NLC guys are just suffering the poor masses... When Emefele introduced useless naira policy and it affected most Nigerians NLC didn't go on strike... Buhari and Tinubu removed fuel subsidy, petrol is close to ₦1000 per litre and things generally increased NLC didn't go on strike. The useless NLC guys are now fighting for unreasonable salary increment... Seh nah everybody be salary earner in Nigeria... Most people in Nigeria depend on daily wages

Same point I've been trying to make... How many organisations even pay according to minimum wage? Na majorly government workers e go favour Na... They should have protested for things that affect all Nigerians

With just your BVN, it's not possible... Your BVN is in many places, it's not as if it's really hidden/secret

Someone already explained about opening an account and collecting loans through it, but there's verification now... Even digital banks like Palmpay now request for verification

So, in very simple answer, No, one cannot steal your money because they have access to your BVN

Education / Re: Nigerian Students In UK Seek Help From Food Charity by Yampotatocarrot(m): 10:55am On Jun 01
LegendHero:
You will never hear this kind of news about USA students.

UK is just another glorified 3rd world country. How student no go fit get some hustle off campus or even tuition assistance to support them? Graduate school for that matter.

No graduate assistantship, no teaching assistantship, no tuition remission, no graduate school funds, no on campus job, no off campus care or gas jobs, no eatery jobs.

So if you’re gonna depend on your parent or family in Nigeria for 2 years tuition of almost 24k pounds, then that means you’re rich in Nigeria before.

How many UK citizens even fit afford that amount out of pocket?

To add on top am, they still won’t allow you to bring dependent easily again to work and support. So why are you blasting almost 40k pounds on UK admission/processing/bank statements/housing/bills/feeding when you’ll eventually end up begging for ordinary food?

As funny as it might sound, your first line is true o... Why always UK? Abi USA does not have Nigerian students? Why is the forex whatever not affecting those ones, or is it that those going to UK are just too loud mouthed?

Politics / Re: Minister Lokpobiri: Kaduna Refinery Can Not Refine Nigeria Crude Oil by Yampotatocarrot(m): 8:35pm On May 30
khattab02:
This thread or the comments made by minister of petroleum for states is misleading.
The Kaduna refinery had 2 distillation units,
One for foreign crude and the other for Nigerians crude.
The foreign crude section has long stopped working for God knows.
The Nigeria section was working until it completely stopped under Buhari (from 2015 till now).
It a fallacy to claim it only foreign crude the Kaduna refinery refine.
Shame on the minister that he doesn't know know this about his refineries.
Warri is also built for both foreign and Nigerian crude

I've been reading through all the comments and wondering, does it mean the Kaduna refinery have never refined any crude since it's establishment? Then, I also remember the noise over the fact it had "stopped working"... Also, if it was for foreign crude, what is the pipeline from Nigerdelta supplying to the refinery?

Thanks for the clarification... It just means this minister is a very dull man to have come out to make such generalised comment (with due apologies)

Hehehe .

.just imagine the type of news we are hearing in Nigeria.

How can you build a refinery is Nigeria and it can't refine our own crude oil but that of Venezuela grin tongue, clowns in power.

All these useless refinery gulp down billions of dollars every year without refining a single drop of crude.

It could also interest you to know that some people are being paid as staffs over there to produce nothing.

Your last line is my MAJOR PROBLEM... Are people actually being paid as staff of the refineries, maybe aside the security men stationed there

Education / Re: ASUU Threatens Strike Over Poor Remuneration by Yampotatocarrot(m): 4:08pm On May 28
Seems ASUU always use strike to get special meeting with any new administration

By the way, the FG needs to order EFCC to start asking universities how they spend the TETFUND... They can't be demanding for more funds everytime when no one is asking how they've spent the ones collected

On a side note, I thought the increase in school fees was to avoid strike happening again?

Politics / Re: FG Sues 36 States At Supreme Court Over Local Government Autonomy by Yampotatocarrot(m): 9:35am On May 27
Mrexcell:

Yes the federal govt should also agree to resource control so that states can get enough funds to run their states. Why the states are tampering with local govts funds is simply because the monthly federal allocations is grossly not enough for them especially those states in the niger delta with very difficult terrains. to develop.

Exactly my point, if resource control is in the constitution, that means the state governments can take the FG to court on that also... I'll love to see the FG's reaction on that

From FAAC.

—FG gets 52.68%
—States get 26.72%
—LG get 20.60%

I personally don’t believe FG should get that much percentage because it just does not make any sense. FG should also give some part of their percentage to the states/LG.

Finally, if the Supreme Court can give judgment that support full LG autonomy, that 20% will go a long way in making dividends reach the grassroot more.

Or the LG chairmen will just become more corrupt... What are many of them doing with their IGR? (Ipaja-Ayobo chairman left the whatsapp group... I guess he's waiting for state government to come and do the disastrous LG roads in his local government, while he builds new building in the LG secretariat)

I don't know how this works, but I think the state government can also take the FG to court over true federalism or whatever they call it...

I agree with you that anyone that'll make dividends get to the grassroot should win
