The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has said those responsible for the drastic loss in value by the national currency, the Naira, will not live to enjoy their illicit gains. Delivering the sermon yesterday at the special Sunday service organised by RCCG Region 11 aka Ikoyi/Victoria Island family at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos, Pastor Adeboye said this was a revelation he received from God early this year but which he was sharing for the first time. ‘’Those who are deliberately destroying the Naira will make the money but will not spend it”, he declared. The Naira has drastically and dramatically nose-dived in value in recent months, exchanging at over N500 to the US dollar before it began to appreciate lately. Adeboye Yesterday’s service was the first of its kind by Region 11, whose appellation was changed from “Ikoyi/Victoria Island Family” by Pastor Adeboye. “On my way here this morning, while I was on the long bridge, God told me to change your name to Blessed Family”, he said. Dwelling on the theme of the programme, which is “Enlarge”, Adeboye said it connotes the presence of the enlarger as well as the one to be enlarged. “God is not interested in addition but in multiplication,” he said, adding that ”God had pleasure in the prosperity of His people.” Pastor Adeboye, however, admonished the congregation to always do the will of God and be ready to pay the price for greatness. Earlier, the Mother-in-Israel, Pastor (Mrs. Folu Adeboye, had declared the programme “the beginning of a new day” while also appreciating all those who grew the Region from a humble beginning at Our Saviour’s School in the 1980s. The service started with the Regional Pastor, Charles Kpandei, leading the congregation to sing the Blessed Family’s special song. He paid glowing tributes to his predecessor, Pastor (Mrs.) Oretayo Adetola, whom he described as the “matriarch” of the Blessed Family. Dignitaries who attended the special Sunday service include the RCCG National Overseer, the National Secretary (represented), National Treasurer, Elders Fola Aboaba, Felix Ohiwerei, Okey Mofunaya, Chief of Defence Staff, Maj Gen Abayomi Olonishakin, provincial pastors, among others. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/04/destroying-naira-wont-spend-loot-adeboye/

China is tempting its citizens to become whistleblowers, but the carrots offered are not as rich as what Nigeria has offered its citizens. While Nigeria has offered between 2.5 and 5 per cent of stolen money reported, the authorities in Beijing, the Chinese capital has offered a flat $72,460 to its whistleblowers. The money is due to anyone who provides useful information on spies. The policy became effective today10 April. Informants can pass information to authorities through calling a hotline, sending letters or visiting the city’s state security bureau. After collating the information, the bureau can offer rewards ranging from 10,000 yuan to 500,000 yuan based on the reports’ usefulness. Personal information of informants will not be disclosed without their consent, and informants can also seek protection from security authorities if they or their close relatives are in danger due to informing. However, informants will be punished if they deliberately slander others, or invent and spread false information. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/04/china-emulates-nigeria-offers-72460-whistleblowers/ |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has advised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission not only to carry out thorough investigation of corruption cases, but also hire the services of ‘Ogbologbo’ lawyers. Olusegun Obasanjo An ‘Ogbologbo’, a Yoruba word means ‘seasoned, experienced person. Obasanjo gave the advice today while reacting President Muhammadu’s Buhari’s charge to the EFCC to stop losing cases. Obasanjo said, “I was reading today when the President (Muhammadu Buhari) said the EFCC should stop losing cases. They lose cases for a number of reasons. “One, they engage more of outside lawyers. I believe that they need staunch, `Ogbologbo'(seasoned) lawyers inside that will do the work. “If I am a lawyer and I want the opponent to win a case, what I will file will be `wishy washy. And if I file a `wishy washy’ case, the opponent will see the loophole and he will get out of it. I believe that it is important. “Secondly, thorough investigation is very important. Now, investigation must be thorough, it must be proper and it must be really taken seriously. “Third, our judges must be committed in fighting corruption. “They must be committed to fighting corruption. Because if the investigation is very sound and you have `ogbologbo’ lawyer to handle the case, if you have Salamigate, you know what the answer will be. “So it is a chain: investigation, prosecution and the judiciary. If there is weakness along this line, chances are that corruption cases will continue to be lost, “he said. Obasanjo made the comments on Sunday while playing host to members of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun Chapter, at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta. He also debunked the allegation that his government plotted to kill former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (rtd ) as claimed by Bamaiyi in his book. The former president explained that his administration only asked Bamaiyi to respond to accusations that he was responsible for some killings, saying that the decision was legitimate. “That I wanted to kill him? What of the people he killed? My government did not plot to kill him. “My government asked him to answer to those that were alleged to have been killed by him and that is legitimate. “That if there is an allegation that you have done something, that you have committed a crime, then you are arrested, you should answer and that is all. “Who the hell is he that I would want to kill him? Kill him for what? To achieve what? No! . “There were allegations, the police and the law enforcement agencies decided to look into the allegations. “They invited him and they asked him to answer as a result of what was found, so they charged him to court. “So, it’s now up to him, the investigators as I said, the prosecutors and the judiciary. That’s all,” Obasanjo said. Bamaiyi had recently alleged that his incarceration for more than eight years was punishment for opposing the choice of Obasanjo as successor to former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar. The allegation was contained in his book, “Vindication of A General” which was unveiled last weekend in Abuja. Bamaiyi also claimed in the book that the incarceration was to keep him away for fear that he would overthrow the Obasanjo government. He wrote that as soon as Obasanjo took over, Gen. Abubakar and some of his people told Obasanjo that if he [Bamaiyi] was left free, he would overthrow the government http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/04/obasanjo-efcc-needs-ogbologbo-lawyers/

happy birthday sir. i tap from your blessings |
On Federal Government’s refusal to release the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu This is a country operated by the rule of law. The whole essence of the rule of law is separation of powers and independence of the judiciary. When the executive does not respect the rulings of the judiciary, we are in a state of anarchy. The courts have, two times, asked for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. I don’t know why he is still being held. I don’t understand the security threat that Nnamdi Kanu poses that he will continue to be incarcerated. I know that Boko Haram is an armed organisation, which has invaded Nigeria with reckless abandon; occupied territories, some of which have been recovered; mounted flags that are not Nigerian flags; and displaced local and traditional authorities. Some of them who were captured have been released. Some of them escaped from detention. Can you imagine a terrorist escaping from detention? Some of them claimed to have renounced Boko Haram and one of them came back with a girl he abducted and they were received in Aso Rock. I do not know of anyone of them on trial in any of our courts today. What has Nnamdi Kanu done in comparison? In the Niger-Delta, there are Avengers, who have blown up oil wells and pipes. Government is going to negotiate with them. There are all kinds of government policies and programmes aimed at addressing their grievances and travails. But if it concerns the Igbo, they even concoct situations in order to terrorise the Igbo. It took the Amnesty International to shout before everybody began to take it seriously that 177 people were killed summarily without trial just because they were demonstrating. LAST week, old members of the Sigma Club of the University of Ibadan, held a dinner in honour of President General of the Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, in Lagos. At the event, some eminent Nigerians such as Elder Statesman and Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark; former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku; Afenifere elder, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; former governor of old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo; and Professor Biyi Afonja, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take immediate steps to restructure Nigeria and prevent the country from disintegrating. According to them, the unity of Nigeria and harmonious co-existence of the various ethnic nationalities will be deepened by fiscal federalism and restructuring of the polity. Speaking at the dinner, Chief EK Clark said: ‘’Nigeria is very sick today. The Nigeria, which our founding fathers like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and Sir Ahmadu Bello bequeathed to us, is no longer what we have. At independence, we had a constitution that said there would be three regions, no one is superior to the other. Every region developed at its own pace using what it produced. We had fiscal federalism. Today, what is produced at my backyard is taken away from me and I am being made to beg for it. This country must be restructured. ‘’There was a conference in this country to restructure Nigeria but after, they jettisoned it for the status quo to remain. Because of the faulty structure and the people ruling have no regard for other people, people are withdrawing into their regions.’’ Urging Chief Nwodo to join hands with other leaders to ensure justice and restructuring of Nigeria, the elder stateman added: ‘’President Buhari said that we must kill corruption or will kill us but I say restructure Nigeria or non-restructuring of Nigeria will kill Nigeria.’’ Also, Chief Adebanjo, who commended Ndigbo for electing Nwodo as Ohanaeze president general, said his election came at a time people like him are needed to move Nigeria forward. The octogenarian and First Republic politician lamented that Nigeria is now a far cry from the country he also fought for its independence. Noting that injustice has become the order of the day and qualified people hardly get into power, he said: ‘’The way forward is restructuring Nigeria now. I hope to be alive when people like John Nwodo will be president of this country as a right not by concession… Good people should get the presidency as a right. You either get it as a right or no Nigeria.’’ To Chief Anyaoku, the value system has collapsed in Nigeria and the development is hugely responsible for the menace of graft in the country. Averring that Sigma Club is a club of gentlemen with values, he said we must strive for the values of integrity, hard work and belief that good character is far above irresponsible personal wealth. ‘’How much of these values are still in place? We complain of corruption in Nigeria; corruption is the result of absence of those values in our society. Children and adults no longer recognise that success comes from hardwork, that good name is of more value than wealth,’’ he said. Anyaoku also praised Nwodo, adding that his election as Ohanaeze leader ‘’has inspired in some of us a new confidnce in the organisation’’ because he is capable of leading Ndigbo well. Former governor of old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo stressed the need for unity and urged: ‘’Let’s begin to see ourselves as agents of unity. Let every Nigerian see other Nigerians as his own.’’ Eldest Sigma Chief, Professor Biyi Afonja said the word ‘restructuring’ is common in Nigeria now because of injustice and marginalisation of various groups. His words: ‘’When will Nigeria be Nigeria again?Any Nigerian of school age in 1950 will not have problems understanding what we mean by restructuring…we need federalism in the true sense of it…However, no geo-political restructuring will save Nigeria without mind restructuring.’’ Responding, Nwodo, who said he is overwhelmed by the honour, stated that what is happening to the Igbo concerns all Nigerians and must be addressed for the good of all. According to him, our electoral system has destroyed democracy, our federalism has been completely jaundiced and there is discrimination. Hammering on the need for restructuring, he said in the First Republic, palm kernel fired the first cement industry in Nkalagu and University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Eastern Nigeria; cocoa fired free education, and first TV station in Africa in Western Nigeria; and groundnut fired the Ahmadu Bello University in Northern Nigeria and queried: ‘’What do agriculture products fire in Nigeria today?’’ Notable Nigerians at the dinner included Chief Jim Nwobodo, Professor Joe Irukwu, Ambassador George Obiozor, Mr. Peter Obi, Rear Admiral Allison Madueke, Chief Guy Ikokwu, Dr Paschal Dozie, Professor Pat Utomi, Mr Jimi Agbaje, Dr Ifeanyi Okechukwu, Mr Emeka Ugwu-Oju and Henry Ajumogobia. Before the dinner, Nwodo spoke to Vanguard on some burning national issues. His take on calls for restructuring of the country, agitations for Biafra Republic and state of the nation. I am already in the public domain on this. My innuagural speech as president general of Ohanaeze made very clear what our views are. I did say in the course of putting across our view that the infrastructure in our political system has precipitated a state of dissatisfaction, anger, impatience especially on the part of the youths in Igboland. If you belong to a country where you are not being treated equally; where your fundamental human rights are abused with reckless abandon; where in spite of constitutional provisions on federal character, representation in government especially appointed representations are denied you; where your zone has the least number of states notwithstanding two constitutional conferences that recommended more states, you cannot but feel unwanted. So, the South-East appears to be between self-determination and restructuring of Nigeria. Essentially, the Igbo are more Nigerian than other Nigerians. There is no part of Nigeria where if you remove the indigenous population, the next largest ethnic group are not the Igbo. I challenge anyone to contradict this. The Igbo live everywhere in Nigeria, feel at home everywhere in Nigeria and also invest where they live. There is no part of Nigeria where Igbo live that they don’t build houses. In Jos, they built Saint John’s College; in Ogun State, they built a university; in Sokoto, they built a tomato puree industry; in Lagos, they built multiplicity of industries not to talk of real estate. They feel at home, they feel it is their country and they can invest there. Igboland as conquered territory However, if you go to Igboland, security forces behave as if it was a captured and conquered territory – people under siege. There is no major town that you enter without an Operation Python Dance military checkpoint. If they were checking for arms and on purely national security assignment, you will applaud them but they are toll gates. Between Onitsha and Enugu, I counted 70 checkpoints. On each checkpoint, commercial vehicle drivers drop money on the floor and you watch policemen pick them up without caring whether the Inspector General of Police is following them. I challenge the media to take a tour of Igboland, assess the military installations and checkpoints, record what they are doing and tell me if you live in such situation whether you won’t feel like a conquered territory. This is about the 20th time I am talking about it but nobody is doing anything. It is like going after Fulani herdsmen. They carry sub-machine guns, kill with reckless abandon but not one of them is on trial. None of the ones caught in Nimbo, Enugu State has been prosecuted. The pictures in the social media inundate us about people carrying Ak-47 rifles. Can’t the intelligence network pick-up those hints in spite of the security threat they pose? And why hasn’t it become a matter of national security that every state government should create a grazing reserve, owned by the state government, which they charge anyone who wants to graze his cow there and confine the cow to the grazing reserve? Why do we need a bill for that? This is a federation for crying out loud. Every state should determine how movement of cattle should affect it. Why is this impossible? Igbo, in certain parts of the North, are confined to where they call Sabon Gari. They carry out their trading in a restricted area for visitors in the community. Why is that of cattle different? I am discussing the issue of national security openly without reservation in the hope that it is only by isolating the critical issues that we can remove the nepotism in them, distill it and face the fact squarely. That is the only way to national reconstruction. Unaddressed injustices fuel restiveness If we keep saying these and nothing keeps happening, it becomes impossible to arrest the restiveness of the youths and their determination for self-determination. The other day, I was reading Chief Mbazulike Amaechi saying that Nigeria is on the brink and that if this continues, it will be difficult to save it as an entity. This should be obvious to everyone. The killings are too many. The other day, it was Benue; it has happened in Nimbo and in Rivers. It is not rocket science to deal with. On Igbo presidency in 2019 It is a non-issue as far as I am concerned as president general of Ohanaeze. I don’t carry membership card of any party. It is an issue for the political parties to deal with. I know that naturally rotation of political offices in the country, states and local governments is ingrained in the constitution through the federal character principle. However, no party has called for nomination and agitation for presidency. It is not the issue now. What Nigerians are asking for is restructuring- for Nigeria to be a true federation. You can’t be a federation in name. What makes people a federation is the independence of the federating units. The moment you have independence of the federating units- be they states or regions and fiscal independence, they own their resources but contribute an agreed proportion to the Federal Government, all these questions of who is the president and where he comes from will die down and the presidency becomes a question of who is competent.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called for a spiritual approach to the anti-corruption crusade in Nigeria, calling on the church to wield its influence against the menace. Olusegun Obasanjo Obasanjo made the call in Abeokuta at the 2017 Convention Lecture of the Victory Life Bible Church International. He spoke on the theme: “The Role of the Church in the Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria.” The former president described the church as an important and influential institution with a pivotal role in curbing and eradicating corruption in Nigeria. He described the anti-corruption war in Nigeria as “a fight for the soul of the nation.’’ Obasanjo said successive governments in Nigeria had tried to contain corruption through enactment of laws and enforcement of integrity systems with a slow pace of success. “Legislations alone are not enough as they are often breached by those who make them and those who should implement them. “Our main problems are moral, ethical, attitudinal failure and disorientation. “The church is an institution that provides the moral and ethical standards for us as believers. “Man alone by himself cannot get rid of corruption from the world, he needs the assistance of God. “Here must come the society and the church with the spirit of God to work together to undo the harm that man has done and continue to do to the perfect work of God on earth,’’ he said. The elder statesman, however, stressed that the anti-corruption crusade must first be fought within the church through ridding itself of the menace before extending it to the larger society. “The church needs to clear its augean stable. “The temple of God must be cleanest to restore the holiness of the church. “Our present day money changers and merchants. Must be chased out of the church. “The pulpit must be used to teach and preach righteous and honest living. “To preach that one can acquire wealth without labour is not only deceitful, but also a call to corruption. “We must be careful in believing and celebrating every testimony of miraculous blessing otherwise we end up celeberating corruption. “The behaviour of some of our men of God leaves much to be desired. “They not only celebrate but venerate those whose sources of wealth are questionable. “They accept gifts (offerings) from just anybody without asking questions giving the impression that anything is acceptable in the house of God,” he said. He called on Christian leaders to sanitise the church for effective anti-corruption crusade. The former president, who recalled that the church played an important role in the development of Nigeria, noted that the nation had come to another historic juncture requiring the church to play a leading role. “The role must be played in praying, preaching and teaching. “This is a period of moral and ethical rebirth and the church as an agent of socialisation must embark on moral re-armament for the church and for the nation. http://m.news24.com/news24/Africa/News/multichoice-forced-to-hike-dstv-prices-in-nigeria-20170406 Cape Town – Nigerians are furious after MultiChoice Africa announced a 5% DStv price hike coming into effect from May in the west African country, with MultiChoice Nigeria saying that with the tanking naira and runaway inflation it is forced to increase prices. While MultiChoice has to pay for channel carriage and entertainment and sport programming costs made available through its DStv and GOtv pay-TV services in dollar, the naira has been on a slide for the past four years since 2013 while rampant inflation is eating into Nigerian buying power. MultiChoice Nigeria made no DStv price increase in 2016. The last price increase was two years ago in April 2015 when the pay-TV provider hiked monthly subscription fees by 20% and blamed the sharp devaluation of Nigeria's weakening local currency. In November 2016 MultiChoice Africa explained that it has actually been absorbing the increasingly expensive programming costs on behalf of Nigerian DStv subscribers. John Ugbe, MultiChoice Nigeria managing director said "We haven't been able to pay our bills for about a year now and have been supported by MultiChoice Africa". Key priority The DStv price increase in Nigeria from May follows the one in South Africa when a price increase came into effect since April. In a statement about the new price hike, Ugbe says it was done after a review of its business operations. "We announced last year that we would do everything possible to hold the price barring any extreme factors." "However all our content is purchased in dollars and although we have done everything possible to hold the prices even with the price of everything else going up, we are now left with no choice but to adjust our subscription prices from 1 May." "Our key priority is to put subscribers' needs at the heart of everything we do and therefore, in determining the price adjustment, we took into account many factors including, the impact on the customer, current inflation which stands at 19%, programming costs and efficiencies within the company." "Please be assured that we have worked really hard to keep this year’s fees manageable". Angry Nigerian DStv subscribers are upset over the announced price hike and are venting on social media, with some who have called for a boycott of the service. Nigeria has around 1.5 million DStv subscribers out of the 11 million pay-TV subscribers MultiChoice had by the end of September 2016 across Africa.

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on the leadership of the Senate to “immediately withdraw the unwarranted and unconstitutional ‘summon’ for Professor Itse Sagay, Chairman Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption to appear before the Senate committee on ethics, privileges and public petitions for reportedly describing the body as ‘childish and irresponsible’ and one ‘filled by people of questionable character’.” Prof Sagay SERAP in a statement Thursday signed by its executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni said that, “the Senate’s decision to summon Professor Sagay simply for exercising his right to freedom of expression is arbitrary, a travesty, mala-fide, and cannot withstand constitutional scrutiny. Suppression of freedom of expression and public discussion is inimical to peace, order, good governance and the rule of law, and patently inconsistent with the Senate’s law-making and oversight functions.” The statement read in part: “The Senate is not immune from constitutional control simply because it’s a law-making body. In fact, the Senate has neither special immunity from the operation of the constitution nor special privilege to invade the constitutionally and internationally guaranteed right to freedom of expression of Professor Sagay or other citizens for that matter.” “The framers of the Constitution of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) would never have contemplated a legislative power without responsibility, and the Senate can’t continue to carry on in a manner that implies its law-making and oversight powers are not open to question. Therefore, its powers under the constitution ought to be exercised reasonably and responsibly, consistent with the fundamental notions of peace, order, good governance and the public interest.” “The human rights of Nigerians are secured against not only executive lawlessness but also legislative excesses. To trample on citizens’ freedom of expression is to thwart the ideals of representative democracy and the rule of law.” “The National Assembly is constitutionally empowered to make laws for the peace, order and good governance of Nigeria but recent events in the Senate would seem to stir the public anger. It seems curious that the Senate will be giving a raw deal to the heads of the two leading anti-corruption bodies in the country—Ibrahim Magu of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Itse Sagay of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption.” “All public institutions and figures are legitimately subject to criticism and political opposition. The Senate in particular and the National Assembly as a whole would do well to respect the inherent rights of Nigerians that are so fundamental to our constitutional structure. Democracy, constitutional supremacy, and the rule of law require no less. Indeed, no principle is more basic to any proper system of law than the maintenance of the rule of law itself” It would be recalled that Professor Sagay’s comment was a reaction to the Senate’s refusal to proceed with confirmation of 27 persons President Muhammadu Buhari nominated as Resident Electoral Commissioners. The lawmakers stopped the confirmation in protest against the refusal of the President to sack Ibrahim Magu as acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission despite his repeated rejection by the Senate. Withdraw your unwarranted unconstitutional ‘summon’, SERAP tells Senate http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/03/withdraw-unwarranted-unconstitutional-summon-serap-tells-senate/

Yes, well said Jagaban of Africa we youth of south west are proud you and all the right thinking Nigerian are proud you |
National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday poured accolades on the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode over his sterling performance in the last 22 months, saying that the Governor has made him proud. Speaking while commissioning network of roads, link bridge and health centre in Alimosho area of the State as part of activities to mark his 65th birthday, Tinubu said the achievements of Ambode in office was a reflection of a Governor who is not only a thinker but a doer, and expressed satisfaction that he was delivering on the promises to the people. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi; wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Sherifat Aregbesola; the celebrant, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; his wife, Senator Oluremi; wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode and Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola during Asiwaju’s 65th Birthday celebration at his Bourdillon residence, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He said: “Akinwunmi Ambode has reflected that clearly here today. I want to say thank you because experience is a great teacher and I am experienced. I am on the spot and I have watched things in Lagos since my tenure ended. “I was worried hell when you (Ambode) took over, not about your credibility, character or capacity, but because however wise or smart a man is, if there is no resources to back the ideas, production would be zero, progress would be zero. “When you (Ambode) took over, I know you inherited a burden of debt. The debt profile of Lagos was high, I was wondering how you will reengineer and face the challenges to make progress. “Today, I can see your report card, you have scored well, and you have shown prudency especially in the judicious use of resources of the State. “You didn’t disappoint us. Ambode is silently achieving, meticulously planning, religiously executing and brilliantly giving results for Lagos State,” the former Lagos governor said. Tinubu said all over Lagos, the results of good governance was being felt by the people, and wished Ambode sound health and wisdom to continue to lead the State. “All over Lagos, we are seeing the results. At Oshodi, on our way down here, you can see what is happening there, that place is a construction site. It used to be a den of robbers but what is going on there now is developmental activities for the benefit of the entire country. “Ambode is very quiet, very peaceful, not a noise maker, but he is delivering on the job. “Today, you (Ambode) have given me a good birthday present. This is a great opportunity for me to be very proud again. Therefore, if we can continue in this direction of infrastructural development in the manner Governor Ambode is moving, Lagos will soon match international states or country anywhere in the world” Tinubu said. In his remarks, Governor Ambode described the event as a historic day in the life of the people of Alimosho and the State in general. He recalled his visit to the Aboru area in March 2016, saying that aside the state of the road which was totally unacceptable, there were reports of series of deaths and fatal accidents caused by the presence of a valley, adding that he immediately directed that work should commence in the area. “Exactly one year after, we are here to keep our promise to the good people of Aboru, Abesan and other communities and reaffirm our commitment that no community or area will be left behind. Every Lagosian counts. We are a government of inclusion,” the Governor said. He said the 480 metres bridge linking Aboru to Abesan, both in the Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council of Alimosho Local Government Area would significantly ease the burden of travel between the two communities by reducing travel time and eliminating the risks associated with its non-existence. Governor Ambode said aside the Bridge, additional adjoining inner roads to create an efficient road network that will aid connectivity permanently were also constructed. He listed the roads to include Church Street, Giwa Street, Victor Fagbemi Road, Ogunfayo Road, Ogundare Street, Salami Kazeem, all totalling 5.5km with drainage, walkways and street lights adding that the road network would ease the pressure on the Abeokuta Expressway and links residents with Iyana Ipaja, LASU-Iba Expressway. Governor Ambode also flagged off the commissioning the construction of a network of roads within the boundaries of Lagos and Ogun States, saying that it was in honour of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as the brain behind the 21st century Lagos. He expressed optimism that the roads which have been identified for immediate construction and rehabilitation would complete the new face of Alimosho constituency, saying that work would commence next week. He listed the roads to include Ikola Road with Odo Obasanjo Bridge – 6.4km (from Ipaja/Command to Ilo River); Ogunseye Road – 1.75km (from Ajasa/Command to Ikola Road);Oko Filling Road – 1.5km (from AIT to Ilo River); Osenatu Ilo road – 620m (from Ibari Road to Ilo River); Amikanle road – 3.1km (from AIT to Ogunseye Road); Aina Aladi road – 1.9km (from AIT to Ilo River) and Aiyetoro Road with a bridge– 1.4km (from New Market/Ishefun Road intersection to Ilo River). He however appealed to the residents of the communities to cooperate with the contractors so as to enable them deliver the network of roads not later than the scheduled completion date. Also, State of Osun Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Senator representing Lagos West at the Senate, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola said it was obvious that Governor Ambode started well and is doing well, and solicited the cooperation of the people to engender further dividends of democracy and good governance. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/03/ambode-made-proud-tinubu/

A colloquium on small scale businesses in honour of the politician will take place in Lagos today.
