CareerRe: Human Resource Professionals: by yemmight(op): 2:11pm On Jul 16, 2012
britee: hello all, i have a pressing career concern. I am a graduate of literature in english and i want to pursue a career in human resource management. I graduated 3 years ago and am still unemployed. In addition to my B.A lit-in-eng, i have a diploma in public administration.
I live in the north and the closest university do not run a hrm course, what they have is : pgd in management studies and pgd in public policy and administration.i also intend to register for cimp exams.
The question is ,with my background am i to do a postgraduate diploma or masters degree;and will the above mention courses help me? Am also sacred of stii not getting a job after all these trouble.
please, your candid advice and opinion will be sooooo appreciated.
With your Lit-in-English, you are good to go as HR person but i think it will help you more if you quickly enroll with CIPM and be certified. Often time we have vacancies for HR Asst and requirement might be either 1-2 years previous experience in HR or Freshers with CIPM background. You should grow with time in HR but if still go ahead for other courses, it may affect your desired career in HR. I am not saying you should not take your PGD's, MBA etc but as a fresher do all that after CIPM. Your chances of securing a job in HR environment with Lit-in-Eng + CIPM are higher than if you have your lit-in-Eng + PGD at entry level.

PoliticsRe: Floods In Ibadan Again by yemmight(m): 1:12pm On Jul 16, 2012
Kobojunkie: Stop with the lame-brained excuses. Yes, inherited a state with no serious drainage system in place but it does not take 10 years to build a functioning drainage system. Any serious government can do that in less than a year. Considering he knew of this problem before resuming office, one would expect he gets to solving it immediately . .. hit the ground running essentially.

And please do not follow this up with more brain-fart about how there is no money . . . many of these states are able to take out loans to get work done, and I see no reason why any new Governor should not have a good plan on how to deal with problems, even like this one, already.
For a long time that i have known you here, you way has always been upside down, so i am used to it. Sometimes i wonder if you walk using your head. Even battling drainage since Tinubu era has not resolved the problem but WIP. So for you, one year is enough to handle drainage in a State like Oyo? i dont even know the planet you presently occupying but if you are close to your homeland, you should be precise in reasoning. I was in Ibadan last weekend and i can clearly see the difference btw Kobojunkle, Akala and Ajimobi. Two weekends ago, I was also in Ogun State and i saw massive construction of road network with good drainage and i can easily compare Kobojunkle, Gbenga Daniel and Amosun.

PoliticsRe: Should Oshiomole Apologise To JEGA & INEC For Crying Wolves When There Were None by yemmight(m): 10:42am On Jul 16, 2012
Apology for what? If he had not complained while the election was on and with reports of fake ballot papers, delays in major pooling boots in Benin, where Comrade has got stronghold, i am sure that election would have been manipulated. Comrade, please don't swallow your pride i beg sir.
PoliticsRe: Mr President The Man Of His Words by yemmight(m): 10:32am On Jul 16, 2012
usmanyaro17: With the widely acclaimed success of th Edo state governorship elections, which was termed as peaceful, credible and reflective of the people's wishes, can it be said, that the President Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is a man of his words, with the promise he made earlier that the process will be hitch free?
His words my foot. The election in Edo is beyond. If he has done anything stupid, the gods of the land would have responded by now.
PoliticsRe: Floods In Ibadan Again by yemmight(m): 10:17am On Jul 16, 2012
Demdem: To be honest, Ajimobi should wake up.
So he brought the flood abi? Or do you want him to perform miracle to stop flood immediately? Have you ever asked what the previously govt have done in the past 8 years in that state? Have u been to that state recently and asked yourself what the previous govt achieved in the past?

PoliticsRe: Enugu Assembly Passes Bill Banning Okada by yemmight(m): 4:47pm On Jul 04, 2012
Piyke: They failed on this one angry More annoying is that the deadline was 3rd july 2012, So a man that fed his children with okada money yesterday should suddenly spring a surprise job today and get paid today and then feed his children SMH

Such laws should have the cushion of time. At least fix a deadline for next year or so, so that all those affected would plan for an alternate stream of income within the grace period.

This may lead to a sudden increase in crime just as many lost their jobs suddenly
Very, very brilliant point there. Our govt, do you think they care about us?
