Dear all, Good evening. Please is it a must that we have the English Language Test Results? Secondly, can it be waived? Many thanks as I look forward to your responses. |
My experience at the Kebbi State Immigration Office located in Birnin Kebbi, is similar with the Op's one. The processes were user-friendly and very fast. Although, I got mine the next day. |
klem93:Please how many Referees does Ptdf request for? |
scarplanet:Yeah, I'm aware. I only gave her a kind advise due to her "desperation". Thanks for your continued support on this thread Sir. |
Ishioma97:Hi Dear, Please, kindly state your discipline and your area of research. In publishing papers, there are specific journals to each research field with different impact factors (I'm not too sure if you know what this means). Further, there are a lot of "useless" and predatory journals online that will receive your paper and publish it with the sole aim of collecting monies from you. If you're really keen on publishing your findings, first seek a mentor (usually your project supervisor or someone who has sufficient knowledge in that field) who has enough experience in academic writing and publication. This will significantly reduce your stress in relation to finding journals to publish in. It's noteworthy to state that some journals are no longer recognized by the NUC and the international academic community consequently publishing in such journals is a total waste of time and money. I've about 6 publications in high-profile national and international peer-reviewed Journals with good impact factors. Please, do not rush to do these things. Publications will come at the right time. Therefore, take your time, write a good manuscript, get a guide or mentor, search for journals and their respective requirements, and publish. All these questions you're asking are totally not necessary. You can contact me (via pm) if you don't mind. Best wishes. |
NerdyMe:What department are you applying to? I think it varies according to the department and/or faculty. I applied to the Public Health Department. Some of my friends who also applied to the department of Biotechnology are yet to receive the outcome of the nomination request. For the Public health department, I was categorically told by email to wait till the first of December. FYI, I've the essays ready, I don't think it's a big deal. Kindly send a pm. |
Jozay:It's very simple to convert. I don't think you need WES or so. If you graduated with a CGPA of 4.78 in a 5.0 scale, you can convert it to a new CGPA in a 4.0 scale. Just do this: 4.78 × 4 all divided by 5. The answer you get is your CGPA using the 4.0 scale. |
NerdyMe:Amen! I'm still waiting for McGill's nomination. Although, they said I should wait till December 1. We'll celebrate by God's Grace. |
Jozay:Get your academic transcript (from your first year to the current year), put your CV together, and then apply if you will. You might want to check out the MasterCard scholarship at the University of British Columbia, Edinburgh and McGill University. There are some courses in Engineering too. Just Google the MasterCard Scholarship at the respective Universities stated above. Best wishes! |
Nerdmccoy:Yes you can. Application is free. For the MasterCard scholarship for undergraduates, look at the University of Edinburgh. |
wip7:Prof!!!! Maximum Respect. You're adding a new touch to engineering. I hope the paper can be accessed on Researchgate? Congratulations to all the authors. |
destinyy23:Kindly proceed. I'll be looking forward to receiving it. |
Dear All, Here is another link to a recent co-authored publication of mine https://www.researchgate.net/publication/328407841_Insecticidal_Activities_of_the_Leaf_Powders_of_Chromolaena_odorata_and_Mimosa_diplotricha_against_the_Common_Bed_Bug_Cimex_lectularius_L. It involves the control of bedbugs using powders from alien plants. It was published in the International Journal of Zoological Research. Regards and a happy Sunday to Y'all |
wip7:Thanks Prof. I'll put all of these into consideration whenever I have the full authority of publishing a manuscript. You're a great influence on this forum. God Bless! |
Dear Prof. wip7 et al. Kindly follow this link https://www.researchgate.net/publication/328282699_Repellent_and_Insecticidal_Activities_of_the_Root_Extracts_of_Chromolaena_odorata_and_Mimosa_diplotricha_Against_Macrotermes_species to gain access to my most recent Co-authored publication titled Repellent and Insecticidal activities of the root extracts of two invasive alien plant, Chromolaena odorata and Mimosa diplotricha against Macrotermes species. It was published in the Journal of Entomology (indexed in Google Scholar, Scopus, SCI amongst other high-profile indexing outlets). It's a great paper. Regards. |
Codedman08:No! Let us keep it this way! Were you not happy when you found us (MCF Scholarship applicants) here? Please note that this thread is not for only those applying to Edinburgh, there are other folks applying to other MCF University Partners such as McGill and UBC. In addition, there are previous MCF Scholars around, that can help us with valuable information. Consequently, I STRONGLY resist your suggestion. Cheers |
Teemenzo:Just be patient Best wishes! |
Teemenzo:After sending the required documents to your department of interest, I think they should send you an acknowledgement mail at most, three to four days (although, this might be different for each department). After sending my transcript and cv to my Department of interest, I got a reply two days after, stating that they'll get back to me by the first week of December. I'll suggest you send them a reminder. However, try to be specific in your mail body and the subject line. In the subject line, make use of "Request for Nomination for Admission and the MasterCard Scholarship. Cheers! |
spiritualmubi:Nope. All MasterCard Foundation Scholarships are for graduate study commencing in 2019. Application and reception of documents for the MCF scholarships (McGill and UBC) will end in the second week of November, 2018. Therefore, if you hope to apply for any, kindly submit the required documents as soon as possible. May God help us all. |
emekaike:Did you indicate that you're applying for a MasterCard scholarship? Have you checked if the course/department is supported by MasterCard? |
Arrowgents:Hi, Kindly shoot the department you're applying to a mail attaching your CV, certificate and transcript. In the mail, request for their recommendation/nomination and indicate that you want to apply for a MasterCard scholarship. |
Officialhow:Oops, apologies. Public Health (Molecular Entomology laboratory). Just beneath your floor (smiles). |
Officialhow:Cool. Yes, I'll be there tomorrow. |
wip7:Fantastic studies I must say! But I want to ask, are these laboratory synthesized nano particles user-and ecologically friendly? If yes, I'll love to know more about the synthesis of these nano-particles as it can be integrated in malaria and other mosquito borne diseases' control and management. How can I get such knowledge/experience Prof.? I'll be glad if you can be of help. Although at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research where I'm currently volunteering as an intern, we are often interested in synthetic insecticides (E.g Pyrethroids). |
wip7:Many thanks for your response. I'll write to you sooner rather than later. I need to peruse some of your publications. Please, can you share the links to your publications? I'll also love to follow you on Researchgate. |
wip7:Many thanks for you kind words and comments. These are my humble responses to your comments cum questions. Q1: I would have loved to do that, however, I don't have the facilities to carry out such studies at my disposal. In addition, we were very much interested in creating a method in which the "common" man finds user-friendly. Q2: A plethora of publications exist on the phytochemical composition of the neem plant, consequently we decided not to conduct phytochemical screenings/studies. Q3: The eggs of Culex quinquefasciatus are quite distinct from that of any Anopheles species. They're usually laid in rafts (you might check the pictures for more clarification), while that of Anopheles species are usually laid singly (I learnt these during my training at the molecular entomology and vector control unit, Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Lagos). Q4: Previous studies have investigated the mosquitocidal activities of different extracts (e.g. ethanol, methanol, acetone, ethyl ether amongst others) of the neem plant against several laboratory reared mosquito species including Cx. quinquefasciatus, however, studies focusing on the aqueous extracts (using water) of the plant against field mosquito species are scarce and uncommon. Thus the reason for the study. Response to Suggestions generally Following the end of my bioassay, I noticed some significant changes in the morphology of the larvae, however, I never took It to heart as I was only interested in their mortality. I'll love to conduct DNA studies too, however, I don't have enough fundings to proceed to that level. In my next study, I'll put in consideration all what you've suggested. Kind regards. PS: Are you open to a collaborative study Prof.? |
Hi All, Trust you're doing great? Please follow this link: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/327121104_Larvicidal_activity_of_the_cold_and_hot_water_leaf_extracts_of_Azadirachta_indica_A_Juss_Meliaceae_against_the_larvae_of_Culex_quinquefasciatus_Say_Diptera_Culicidae to gain access to my most recent publication (August, 2018) at the Animal Research International (Journal) with impact factor of 0.89. A big shout out to Prof. wip7 and other Scholars making this thread a great one. I hope to publish in very high impact factor journals such as Springer, Elsevier amongst others by God's Grace. Regards |
wip7:Many thanks for your kind response. I'll follow up on the suggestions you've given. God Bless You! |
This is a lovely thread! Dear wip7, many thanks for your kind contribution and assistance. Well, I'm a prospective MPhil student at the University of Cape Town (as I have been offered a firm offer to study there come 2019). However, I'm in dire need of fundings (both for research et al). Prof wip7 and other scholars, can you kindly suggest any funding organization(s) I can apply to for support? For your information, I just finished my national service (NYSC) last month (July, 2018). My research interests are nested in Plant-insect interactions and conservation biology. Currently, I have 3 Co-authored publications, 2 currently under review, and 8 published articles in the book of proceedings of several conferences hosted by the Nigerian Young Academy/Nigerian Academy of Science and the Entomological Society of Nigeria. Please Prof wip7 (and others), kindly advise me accordingly. Regards. |
SoworeAllen451:Helloo Sir, Please, how can I get access to OSOPADEC Authorities? |
Adanairaland:Sorry for the late reply, I just saw your post. I'll suggest you go to the high Court at Ikeja (if you're based in Lagos) or you locate the nearest high Court in your vicinity. They know these things, so do not be perturbed. it's easy, and will cost you some monies not up to #1000 I think |
