Nearly every bank out there promises to help business in one way or the other (not necessarily loans) but not all follow through with their promises. People with real life experiences can share with others so we know what to expect. |
I stumbled upon a similar thread https://www.nairaland.com/3026693/best-nigerian-bank-business-account/4#45697872 but it focuses more on banks with reduced monthly charges. I'm interested in a bank that provides a more comprehensive package suitable for small business growth. |
I stumbled upon this thread which is similar to the thread I started a few days ago here https://www.nairaland.com/3106635/business-friendly-banks-nigeria I still expect more business people to share their banking experience here or on the other thread |
Thanks for the feedback @Pyerii |
Any advice would be appreciated. |
Hello readers, I'm in the nascent stage of launching a business - expecting CAC registration any time now. The business will involving importing and selling a niche product to targeted clientele. I intend starting on a small scale and using my savings to fund the business at the early stage. This would enable me test my idea without risking other people's money. I also intend to operate an account with one bank (or two). A bank I will use for all my transactions until my idea is validated, probably after a year or two. At which time I will approach the bank for a workable loan to expand the business. I am thinking it may be better to work with one bank so that transactions over the period can be used to verify income statements, cash flow etc and support loan application. Is there any bank favorably disposed to helping small businesses with established track records without collateral (I don't have landed property to use as collateral)? I'd like entrepreneurs and small business owners to lend their experiences with the various banks in the country and proffer other useful advice. |
DO you know any in Port Harcourt? |
OP, You did well saving people from using their well earned money to buy a substandard ebook. You've been talking about the ebook you are working on which you intend to sell in the not-too-distant future but have you taken into consideration that the author of the ebook you posted (exposed) on this thread could buy yours when it's out and do likewise out of spite. |
Xiaomi redmi note 2 is now available at konga but its for 45k cash on delivery. http:///xiaomi-redmi-note-2-white-1922844 |
The phone is indeed a superb phone but keep your emotions in check before you part with your money. I saw this when I tried to conduct a back ground check on Kulimart. For more info, visit the website http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/kulimart.com

I have been following this thread since the very first post. I was looking to change my phone and while browsing through the phone section, this thread caught my attention. I visited the kulimart store then and saw that the phone was not yet out that you'll have to preorder and receive it at the end of the month said the customer rep when i called. But I decided to wait a little while before taking the plunge, you know this is necessary in naija before making online transactions particularly when the company is not well known. So i waited a week before i checked again and the price have increased from N40k to N41k, not much anyway. I decided to preorder 2 phones yesterday and proceeded to 'checkout'. While I put in the relevant details, I could not shake the feeling that the set up was not right. 1. Contact information only contains phone numbers, BBM pin, Whats up etc. There is no physical address. 2. If you go to 'Our Stores', you 'll only see a map of Miami beach and Hollywood. 3. While filling the form, you are meant to check the box that you UNCONDITIONALLY agree to terms and services. Many people, including myself don't click on terms and services but this time I decided to do so and was directed to an error page 'the information cannot be displayed' 4. Images of paypal, Mastercard, Visacard and the like creates an impression that they accept payments online. You are even asked for a billing address but at the end of it all you will be directed to make payment to GTBank or Firstbank to an account in the name of Young web solutions. It seems Kulimart is a subsidiary of this Young web solution which is registered as a business name but this set up sounds more like a web design company and not truly a marketplace. I mean why promote kulimart then direct someone to pay to another entity. This doesn't sound right to me. I AM NOT saying that Kulimart is a scam but there are too many red flags that a sensible person cannot ignore. Lets say I make payment to the the GTBank account, and the product does not arrive and I have to tell someone that I paid money to a company 1. That was launched 4 months ago 2. That do not have a contact address or contact person 3. To pre order a phone that is not available any where else in the country, in Europe and the US. 4. That has no proven track record. I made these concerns known to them by submitting a form to their customer service yesterday on their 'contact us' page and suggested that I would prefer to pay on delivery (to Port Harcourt) but I have not received their response at the time of writing.....another bad sign if you are not able to reach them on phone. If this is a fledgling business, I would suggest they try to build credibility to gain trust first. You do not launch a website and in 4 months you ask people to pre order an item on the site. It is not done anywhere in the world (as far as I know). Good luck to those who made payment and be sure to let the house know when you receive your goods. I will wait till I am able to purchase the phone through a more reputable channel. |
KuliMart:Kulimart, I just checked your website and the device is going for 40k but you said it would be less than 35k. Is this a mistake? Also, I will like to know when you ship out, is it in a few days or weeks ? Do you ship to Port Harcourt? |
I'm enjoying your story but it is taking long time for you to finish it. Why are you keeping readers in suspense? Are you going to gain anything doing so? I think not, just finish it and be done with it. I must say, if you are the author of this piece, my advise is that you seriously consider taking your work to another level like writing a novel or screenplay etc. You are that good. Good luck ....[that is if you abandon the thread] |
OP, She has been sponsoring your previous outings and the only time it was your turn to take charge, you decided to 'test' her instead. If you wanted to appreciate her, why didn't you just go ahead and appreciate her instead of turning it some kind of test. How would you have felt if she had turned all her previous gestures into 'tests'. And you call her heartless.... let me tell you that you have a decent girl who acted in the most appropriate manner or would you have preferred she had made a fuss or decided then and there that she had had enough and walked out. My advise 1. Whenever you want to take your girl for a nice treat, do just that. 2. Manage your finances and plan ahead. You made 30k and decided to risk it all when you should have set aside 4k for the outing. If you continue 'testing' her to cover up your inadequacies, she will likely leave you for someone who will appreciate her. |

kennykg: "She Haven't Went To School ,should I Continue With Our Love Or Forget About Her"My brother, you have good intentions but do you think your lesson here will make any difference at this stage. This is the problem we are facing today. Nigerians are overly focused on results without working for them. The result - Poor foundation. Let him pursue his Masters because if you tell him to go back to Primary School, he will tell you..forward ever, backward never.Tomorrow, these crop of 'graduates' will complain that they can't secure a decent job. |

golor: a pleasant morning to u all,now let me throw d question to u all,if u ask a girl for a relationship nd she said I'm not saying yes or no for now,let just see as it goes what does dat mean?nd how do I get her to b more attracted to me?Op, the best advice I can give you is not to take advice from a female. As far as I can see, the advices from males are on point, ignore any advice from a female otherwise you will be mislead. |
tlanry: She takes her clothes off and walks towards him...You are asking the wrong question. Assuming the guy is your brother, would you advise him to marry such a lady that is willing to give up her virtue for a man who has not pledged his love for her. This is a classic case of a decent guy about to make the biggest mistake of his life - marrying a sloth. |
kross_01: No one is going to click on the link to your pathetic blog. People lyk you should be shot over and over for seeing every mishap happening to another person as an opportunity to propagate falsehood and an avenue to earn a living. As nasty as your username suggests.I agree. |
@Poster, Try again. |
I'm interested in your service, where are you based? |
Dear Ify (ifybernard..com) I came across this thread curious to see the image of the supposed 55yr old in 29yr old body. I quickly scrolled down, seeing no image, I decided to visit your blog to see what you're offering. I spent about 90 seconds and closed the page, never to return. I sure you'd want to know why, at least as feedback. The 2 reasons are: 1. I was misled to your site in hope of seeing 55yr old gorgeous lady which I didn't see. I'm not sure I'm the only who felt this way. This is a major problem in our society today, I'm talking about gimmickry and taking shortcuts. It seems you've just developed your website and now in the stage of marketing and getting viewers. You registered with Nairaland with the intent of drawing some viewers to your site. Instead, of taking time to establish relationships with others by delivering quality content or thought-provoking comments and materials, you decided the fastest way to gain follower-ship was to resort to deceit, telling lies and using gimmicks. You probably felt that this would produce much needed hits, but you failed to ask yourself if these people would ever return. 2. The first thing I saw on your blog was News, Entertainment, Lifestyle, Fashion, Beauty, Inspiration, Events, and ....Gassipsss yah! IFY IS IN THE HOUSE, now this is very similar to News, Events, Entertainment, Lifestyle, Fashion, Beauty, Inspiration and yes... Gossip! *Wink* from Lindaikeji' blog. Similarities became glaring when I looked again at the name of your blog 'Ifybernard' / 'Lindaikeji' . I realised then that I had come to a 'me too' blog with nothing to offer. Your blog is totally unoriginal (so is your approach to marketing), all your posts have been copied from elsewhere and plastered to your page, without adding your voice. You probably saw how Linda's blog is bringing in a lot of money and decided that you could do exactly that and probably make some money as well. Big mistake. All great websites have something in common, that is originality. Each settles on a niche and conquers that niche. Look at Facebook, even all mighty google plus is trying hard to compete. Another example, Nairaland. God created each and every one of us with unique gifts and abilities. Why don't reflect on your strengths, what you enjoy doing, what you believe you can do better than most and focus on delivering material on that aspect. Please don't do gossip if you are only going to 'copy and paste', too many people are doing so already and the chances are you'll never be successful in that niche cos' it taken. Here's an example of someone who took time to establish relationships and earn trust before providing link to their website and providing quote. https://www.nairaland.com/1234695/easiest-way-get-rich. |
Thanks for taking time to reply my post. I also appreciated info on solar power, very informative. Many business struggle due to inadequate financing, it seems you've got that covered. I'll be following this thread with keen interest. Please let us know your business name and website when they are ready. Goodluck. |
@Barcode I just stumbled upon this thread and I must say I'm very impressed with your vision and eloquence. In my view, the 3 ways any business can be successful are : increasing the size of each transaction, getting more customers and getting them to make more purchases. Therein lies your limitations, increase the size of transaction (price) and you price out most of your customers thereby restricting yourself to the rich and elite of society. Encouraging repeat buys from one is going to be almost impossible, as you say the product is built to last 25years. That leaves seeking new customers as the only way to grow. You claim your product is one of the cheapest in the world, this can be both a good thing or a bad thing. Many products in Nigeria are priced higher than the rest of the world to accommodate the harsh business. My dear country, Nigeria, is (one of) the riskiest place in the world to do business (have you been able to register your business yet?). I do hope your margin is sufficient to sustain your business in the long run. I admire your optimism and drive in providing a solution to Nigeria's epileptic power supply. However, the situation could change in the future as there are concrete plans by state and federal government (Gov Akpabio has just concluded laying gas lines in Akwa Ibom). Also, many private companies have taken keen interest in Nigeria's power situation evident in ongoing privatization scheme. The current situation may appear bleak, but the truth is that government down the line will recognize that providing constant electricity is the single way to appease Nigerians, and they will do just that eventually. When that happens, and declining sales of generators cause many businesses to shut down, what do you think would happen to your company then? I noticed that you tend to rely heavily on numbers from research data. Are these numbers accurate? I suggest you conduct your own market research. Numbers don't lie but can be misleading. For instance, you assume that your product will automatically appeal to the rich, but have you considered what he/she should do with his current 12kVA generator after purchasing your Solar Power. The ultra rich are not as concerned about the price of diesel as you might think. Why change what is not broken? What about security of panels. You can secure a generator house but can you do same for your panels. With spate of kidnapping, solar panels may just be an invitation for robbers and like especially if you first to take initiative. I foresee a situation where you generate a lot of buzz and sales upon inception. This is likely to taper off as time progresses as you cannot really build a lasting relationship with each client you acquire (except your referral program performs well). If this happens, you'll have to rely on your margins to sustain you and I do hope it is sufficient. Don't get me wrong, I am not against what you are trying to do. In fact I intend to follow this thread and maybe buy the product when I can afford. I'm just highlighting some points to be considered. It pays sometimes to be a bit pessimistic when embarking on a venture. I wish you the best of luck. |
Still waiting.... |
naijacutee: I found what you want on 123rf, but it's not free, and so containds a watermark and the image quality is rubbish. Thanks for all your contributions. I have spent hours browsing numerous royalty-free stock photo website but was not impressed with what I've seen so far. I am thinking that it may be better for me to engage the services of a studio or agency to deliver specifically what I need. I'd would like to use Nigerian models like the one displayed by Niajacutee. I'd want them wearing traditional Nigerian attire, to have the look and feel of Nigeria. Does anyone know any professional body or bodies in Nigeria or abroad that can do this? If you have any idea on cost, you could also volunteer this information. Thanks again. |
Please someone should contribute, I really need your help. |
