A survey was conducted by financial website easykobo, below are the results. Do you agree or disagree? If you agree, are you ready to buy financial stocks again? If no, is it because you dont trust the market or you would invest elsewhere? NIGERIAN FINANCIAL SECTOR IN HOT DEMAND BY INVESTORS – SURVEY May 2 (Lagos) - In the middle of the financial crisis, financial website, “easykobo.com” conducted a one year survey that began in April 2011 and concluded on April 30, 2012. The purpose of the survey was to gather an understanding on the direction of the market sentiment at a time when investors were looking away from the capital market in Nigeria. This survey was designed to find out which sectors of the Nigerian economy appeal most to investors. This information would help the stockbrokers and financial advisors to tailor their investment vehicle products on the lines of what appealed to investors. Visitors to easykobo were asked to vote on the following question. “Where would you rather invest on the NSE?” The visitors were asked to select one of the following five options. (1) Banks, (2) Insurance companies, (3) Oil companies, (4) Conglomerates & (5) Others. People who visited easykobo.com over that period were free to vote on every new visit. Almost 400,000 votes were cast in the period. At the conclusion of the survey, we discovered a huge interest in financial sector stocks in Nigeria. Banks led the way with 33.62% of votes and Insurance sector received 13.34%of votes. Therefore the total votes for the financial sector carried away 46.96% of votes cast in the survey. Oil companies received 33.45% of votes as the second most picked option behind the banks. Conglomerates received 14.21% of votes. Lastly the Other sectors received the least amount of votes with 5.37% votes of total votes cast. We hope that this survey helps investment brokerage houses and financial advisors to understand their target market in a better way. While investors can have an idea of which sectors are likely to be in demand now that the stock market is showing signs of a revival. Our aim at easykobo.com is to enable investors in Nigeria with a finance website that provides them independent and accurate information on stock listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, bonds, ETF’s and real estate. Easykobo.com was created in Dec 2010 in the middle of the financial crisis to bring a fresh approach to investing in the Nigeria capital markets where accurate and up to date information is freely made available to investors so they do not blindly invest in companies and lose their money. We have heard the tales of investors who have lost their livelihoods as a result of buying shares without knowing much about the companies or their stock brokers. Now www.easykobo.com is available to fill that gaping hole and we will continue to fill that gap.

well these banks should be worth a lot more because their values have been lost in the stock market crash. we should start buying their shares as they really are at rock bottom. uba is going for less than N 3 remember it used to be N 55? so how much value has been lost? same with diamond bank, zenith, even GT Bank ,these banks have made changes and need to be valued higher. anyway thats my personal take because i follow the stock market closely before investing. you can also do the same and avoid losing money. let me suggest a good website to use to track the financial markets, i will not be leaving a link so just check it out. my advice to you would be to diversify your investments. do some fixed deposits do some stock market investments Think about gold as an asset maybe. but always follow the investment climate in the country which is the most important thing to do before selecting which companies you would like to invest in. I learnt to do this after losing money in the stock market because i was just investing blindly because my stockbroker told me. you need to have knowledge before you even talk to your stockbrokers. now i use this website which really helps me out. it is. E A S Y K O B O .com sorry i did not want to leave a link because i am not advertising for them. i really think its a useful resourse for people like us. |
Naira is currently trading at 162.45 on the interbank and around 170 in the black market. But because of strike, Naira trading was halted. SO all eyes will be on the CBN auction tomorrow as to how much dollars does it offer to the buyers. importers had been creating extra demand for the dollars before the strike because no one knew what will happen in regard to the trading of Naira. Now tomorrow if the cbn can meet the full demand of dollars then the NAIRA may actually strengthen. i have been following all the NAIRA updates and the financial climate of investing in Nigeria at the following website, and i think you will also find it useful. What i usually do is, use their currency convertor to get the interbank rate then add 5% to that to get the black market rate. anyway you can check it out it is. E A S Y K O B O . C O M |

do you really think that these 50 expers are going to change anything??they will collect huge salaries and NSE does not have the money to waste. why not put the money in improving what we already have rather than adding things that are new. we need to deepen the market. if have have options and futures now, its a good thing but is it really going to deepen the market when the whole market segment is so low. do you know the NSE has fallen for the past one week every single day?? and todays news, inflation is up to 12.4% while Naira is down to almost 159, so these problems need more attention thats what i feal. here is a article you should read and understand the complex problems facing us. http://www.easykobo.com/News.aspx?id=449 |
there are so many, i think all are useless |
