Yes he needs a medical insurance with a recognised SA health care provider such as Momentum health. You can google ''Momentum health'' for further info on the procedures and health plan. Medical Insurance is mandatory for Study visa applications and Momentum health is highly recognised and regarded. All the best opsy4real1: bless up bro! Long live nairaland. Ps. Does he need medical insurance aside that? |

For what purpose is he travelling to SA? This will determine the category of visa to apply for. jhydebaba: hello house, I have a brother who intend traveling to South Africa. he needs more than 3 months visa that is he is intending staying there for a longer period.
I will appreciate if anyone can educate me on this or quote a relevant post related to this. I am just lazy to go through all the thread.

I did mine at Gbagada general hospital last month with 3k and got it same day. All you need do is to go with your Int'l passport, the medical and radiological report form (i.e BI-806 and BI-811 form) and it will be duly stamped, signed and dated. The completed form will now be returned to the Embassy with other supporting documents for submission of your visa application. You can hold like 5k just in case. All the best opsy4real1: thanks so much bro,how much is it done?and does he need to go with the BI-806 and BI-811 form? |

Go to any of the general hospitals closest to you (Gbagada or Ikeja if you live in Lagos) and you will get it done without stress. Note that the Embassy does not allow report from private hospitals. opsy4real1: hi peeps, may i ask where is appropriate to do the medical certificate&radiology report for south africa visa? And how much please |

I will advise him to get in touch with the embassy or home affairs office depending on where he submitted his application for renewal, and notify them of the change in status as soon as possible. manikky: hello guys. kudos for all the help and support on this thread. one of our brothers needs urgent advice here ooo.
he was on postgraduate studies at one of the universities here and on completion he applied for masters. by October ending he contacted the sch for letter to for continuing so as to renew his permit that would expire DEC 31st. the international office gave him a letter for renewal for his master's degree and he applied for renewal. the prob now is that 2 week ago the department he applied to now called that they would not be able to take him cos they have a lot of south Africans that applied for the same course and they have to take them first. however, he applied to two other schls before for masters and now the 2 other universities have given him admission but he has already used the letter from the first univ and applied for renewal before the latest development from the department.
please what is the best thing to do now? urgently need ur advice here guys....TYPOP, Samtol4, manager007, chemachie, and others...... |

Thanks for the info bro. I will do just that. samtol4: .Go and submit your application bros.if the school wrote 1year on your letter you will be given 1year study permit and they have written 3years so that embassy can give u @least 2years permit so that if you don't finish within stipulated time(1year)you will not have any reason to visit home affairs to renew permit .What is written on your admission letter does not determine duration of your programme. |

I got in touch with d schl and got a letter today stating 3yrs as course duration instead of 1year full time masters programme that I applied for. You can search for SA schools on google and visit their home page for further info. You can try good schools like University of capetown, university of the witwatersrand, university of pretoria, university of johannesburg and so on, as most SA schools have high academic standard. Just google ''list of universities in south africa'' and from there you can choose your preferred institution and visit their website for more info. All the best cutieme: @yinksob002please how do one apply for a postgraduate course over there please can you link me to a school and direct me on how to go about it?thanks. |

Yeah, the fee I was told to pay by d consular is N8,600. For study visa, you apply directly to d embassy and as such there is no handling charge since VFS is not involved. The reason why d fee for visitors visa stands at N18,000 is because it is handled by VFS and there is a service charge already factored in the visa fee. I hope u get my point now. All d best Shine1177: Thank you for this information. Do you mean to type N18,600 @ the highlighted. |

Just to inform all prospective postgraduate students that repatriation fee is no longer a condition for study visa application. I was at the SA embassy in Lagos today to submit my application and one of d consulars confirmed it and only asked me to pay d visa fee i.e N8,600. However, you must hold your birth cert. with u cos that was d only reason why I was asked to come back on Thursday. All the best guys.. |

If you are given multiple entry, it means you can visit SA as many times as you wish within the duration of your visa. However, you must not exceed the maximum number of days stated on your visa on each visit. Congrats OneNaija: I was given multiple entry. does its means I can go to South Africa whenever I like, Its little confusing, Its my first time going there. |

Thanks. I finally received the fee invoice. However, I noticed that d school accommodation is on the high side. Can i use an alternative form of accommodation for my study permit application (i.e Off campus residence). If yes, i would like the house to help with the e-mail or contact info of any registered housing agents in Jo'burg? Thank you. Cypha8: This is strange. Or maybe they don't know the estimated fees for 2015 yet? But why do you need to pay any fees? Is it a requirement for study permit application? I didn't see anything like that on the checklist. If you have all your supporting documents, go ahead and lodge your study permit application. I did mine two days ago.

SA tourist visa is normally issued for 3 months. However, you may be given a multiple or single entry visa subject to the consular's discretion. Decisions on visitors visa to SA most times are discretionary and as such could go either way. Hi guys,
Pls anyone in Wits University or prospective postgraduate student can help out on this.
I have tried obtaining a fee invoice from d school detailing tuition fees, course fees e.t.c all to no avail. To this end, i have sent mails to both the faculty and Int'l office after being unable to reach them on phone yet i got no response.
I intend submitting my application for study visa next week and it won't make sense if i don't pay any portion of my tuition fees & other related costs before submission.
I will appreciate your contributions. |

Why not try using your debit card instead and go through the homepage of Momentum Health. Ensure you have all d details required and follow the process through. I believe you will get it right. You can send me a mail for further clarifications if need be. Cypha8: Luck you. I tried using credit card today, I got confirmation on the online payment page, but when I switched back to Momentum page, nothing happened. Didn't get a bank notification either. I don't want to do the online payment thing twice. Please any idea of other alternative ways to pay? This is the last bit remaining before applying for study permit...
Thanks. |

Search for Momentum Health on google and it will take you to their web page. Thereafter, you can go to the home page and from there you will get further directions. I paid a little above N65,000.00 and it was charged to my debit card. Aboderinkay: Please How do you go about it? |

All you need do is make the payment with your visa card and you will get a letter same day from the hotel via e-mail confirming your booking. Print it out and attach to other supporting documents for your application and submit. NOTE - Paid hotel booking strengthens your application & chances of being granted SA visa. I flew to Johannesburg on October 8 and I have been having fun here. I have lived in Europe but I am still impressed with the level of development I have seen here. With the quality of infrastructure and standard of living I have seen here, I think the "rebasing" of the GDP of Naija makes no sense to the average man on the street. Even if the GDP of Naija is higher as a result of the "rebasing" the standard of living of the average person is far higher in SA. I have been continously shocked by several stuff I have seen here and I have been crying for Naija since I got here.
I would return to Naija on October 14, I hope the many beautiful girls with big backsides that I have seen here don't make me extend my 5 day trip. |
