Yes you can carry those items since they are non metallic. Orientation programme is important in d sense that you get enlightened about your programme, the school rules and other necessary info that will aid you in settling down at d institution. Kentrasso: Pls I need to know how important orientation program is and an answer to the question of bags for travel. Like Manager007 rightly said, if no condition is stated, it means your brother can visit SA for other purposes asides d conference. However, I would advise him to do a paid hotel booking whenever he is set to leave to avoid being denied entry upon arrival. All the best eluquenson: Thanks for the info. My question is how will he know the condition of the visa as it is not stated on the visa the condition Whether strictly conference or visiting visa. |

I don't know about Abuja but in Lagos, that is what is obtainable up till early this month cos i met someone at the SA embassy in lagos who went through the process recently. He was given an option to choose from viz a viz: i) Wait till the study visa expires and get a repatriation refund or; ii) Process it now but with a condition that the visa will be cancelled as it is yet to expire. The deadline of 28th Feb 2015 is to enable concerned parties to process their request on or before then, otherwise it will be forfeited to the state. chemashie: It seems you are not current with the repatriation refund policy. You have to request for the repatriation refunds on or before 28th of February, 2015. I will be going to Abuja to collect mine before going back to SA. |

If you request for a refund of your repatriation fee before your study permit expires, the permit will be cancelled once the repatriation fee is refunded. Otherwise, you may need to wait for your study permit to expire before requesting for a refund of the repatriation fee. abaeli: Compliment of the season my people! Plz I heard that repatriation fee is being refunded but dont know how true it is, hope it wont affect permit on passport sha, as anyone gotten his/her own? kindly lead me on requirement to get it or details about it. thanks |

There is no point withdrawing your passport after this long wait. Be assured that you will get it before mid January. I am aware the embassy had some technical issues before going on break and that could have possibly caused the delay. As a result, a friend of mine had his study visa delayed as well and was asked to check back on the 9th of January 2015. Exercise more patience and all will be fine. All the best dabigbangishere: Hey nairalanders, I submitted my visa application at VFS, Lagos and today makes it 4weeks with no update from this guys. Not at all. The embassy is currently dealing with a lot of applications but am sure you will get a response from them before they go on xmas break. dabigbangishere: I submitted by visa application on the 26th of November and till now, I've not heard anything or received any text from them. Could this be a problem that I won't be getting the visa since its taking a long time right now. |

Of course they do have records of previous applications just like other embassies. However, since you didn't overstay during your previous visits, you may be lucky to have that part overlooked or they may not even notice it going by the volume of applications they treat on a daily basis. Just relax, i believe it will come out fine. All the best dabigbangishere: I am having a big issue here so I need someone with experience to please respond to my post. I've traveled to SA about 2 times and I never overstay... I applied for a visa sometime last year and I was refused so I tried to visit again so while filling the form, someone convince me to fill that I have never been refused before which I foolishly did. Will this affect my chances of getting a visa? Also, do SA embassy have records for applications ever submitted? I will appreciate experience response and no immature talks. |

You are actually right. However, a minimum balance of N400,000 to N600,000 should be okay. Note that the embassy places more emphasis on your acct turnover rather than your closing balance. Waleabimbola: I think they want 6 months bank statement... I am not really sure. let other people enlighten you on this issue please so as not to be misinformed. |

It means your hotel booking had already been cancelled at the time your application was treated. This may be as a result of the fact that you cancelled your hotel booking before your visa application was processed or the booking was automatically cancelled by the hotel since you failed to turn up on the arrival date which i presume is the date below. Always try to apply early next time. Best of luck. extrovert6: Hello house I applied for visit visa to attend a conference, but the conference ended on d 28 of Nov but my documents was processed on d 1st of December by d embassy. If you live in Lagos, i will advise you to visit their embassy at 24, Molade Okoya Thomas street, Victoria Island, lagos and obtain a checklist of documents required. That will afford you the opportunity to meet with the officials and get proper clarifications on other issues relating to the permit in question. For those documents stated below, the dates will not count against you. However, ensure that your bank statement reflects a current date because embassies now insist that your statement print out date must not exceed ten days prior to submission. Secondly, the medical report/radiological report obtained in nigeria should be issued within the last three months prior to submission of your application. Regards Aboderinkay: The letter of acceptance, medical certificate, letter of introduction from my employer etc already dated and am yet to be true with Med ins -momentum |

The required minimum BTA amount is $1,000. In case you don't have up to that, just tell them at the immigration desk that you have additional funds in your bank acct and would not want to take the risk of carrying such an amount about (Hold your ATM card oh). Being a first time traveller, they may try to intimidate you but make sure you stand your ground and be bold in your response. The cost of flight to SA depends on the airline you intend to use and the period cos a friend of mine just booked a flight yesterday on wakanow.com for N96,000 approximately. You can check wakanow.com or flysaa.com for further details. All the best ay01dot123: Hello. Please I don't know how much SA flight is gonna cost me and like how much I need to hold for my BTA. For study visa, the visa fee is N8,600 but you will pay bank charges of N1,575 bringing the total to N10,175.00 You will need to photocopy your yellow card (Front and Back) and you don't need to pay for the same flight reservation. One your visa comes out, you are free to choose your desired airline HankVoight: Evening, 1. Please in respect to flights booking; do I need to pay for the flight before I submit my visa application? If No, am I to pay for the same flight reservation I submitted to the embassy which has a 72 hour reservation holding since i choose the 'pay later' option OR can i move on and pay for another flight on a later day? 2. how much is the visa processing fee for study permits; is it 8,600 or 18,000? 3. Do I need to photocopy my vaccination card?
Thank you for your help. |

1) it should have a return date cos the embassy presumes that you are coming back to naija on completion of your studies. Also, you don't need to pay as its just a flight reservation not booking 2) To be on a safer side, pls do a full year medical insurance to avoid being turned down at d embassy 3) Repatriation fee has been cancelled so you don't need to pay for it. All the best HankVoight: Ma pple, I need your help. I'm applying for a study permit and I would like you guys to help me answer dis questions please; 1. No he can't. Let him get a letter from d school accommodation office to that effect. Some schools may ask u to pay a token as confirmation fee while others may not. Alternatively, you can check out private accommodation online such as" student digz" to know how to go about it. Personally, I will advise you try out d school option because the idea of hotel reservation cannot work for study visa at all. Sorry for d late response as I haven't been online for sometime.
