My dropbox renewal interview was unsuccessful. I was interviewed in Lagos (Window 4) See transcript below:

Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning, how are you doing today?
Me: I'm fine, thank you.
VO: Your passport and DS160 confirmation please
Me: (Hands it over to him)
VO: I can see you have previously visited the US in 2017, which city did you go to?
Me: New York
VO: How long did you stay during your visit?
Me: 2 weeks
VO: Okay (nods his head affirmatively). Are you married?
Me: Yes
VO: Did your wife travel with you during your last trip to the US
Me: No, she didn't as we were not married then
VO: (looks at the screen and says okay)
VO: Is she travelling with you on this proposed trip
Me: No
VO: Where do you work and what are your roles?
Me: I work at xyz bank as a financial reporting officer and handles financial and management reporting, tax remittances, performance mgt ....
VO: That's cool. So, where do you intend to visit this time and what will you be be doing?
Me: I will be visiting New Jersey and in the course of my visit, go sight seeing and visit some places of attraction
VO: Ok, have you visited any other country(s) apart from the US in the last 5 years?
Me: Yes, I've visited South africa and UAE.
VO: Any recent trip out of the country?
Me: Yes, I was in Dubai, UAE in September
VO: Did you go alone or with your wife?
Me: I went with my wife
VO: How long did you stay?
Me: 8 days
VO: That's good (looks at my passport to confirm the stamp)
VO: Do you have kids yet
Me: No
VO: Ok, I'm sorry to inform you that you do not qualify for a US visa at this time (Hands over the refusal form). You can reapply some other time.
VO: Do enjoy the rest your day
Me: Thank you (Collected the refusal form and left).

Although, I wasn't too optimistic given the trend of events in the last one year, but i'm still shocked that I could be refused as i did not at anytime abuse the terms of my previous visa nor overstayed. What do you guys advise?

You can update your DS 160 number from your profiel and print a new appointment confirmation. This won't change your already booked appointment

Hello guys,

I noticed that the DS 160 confirmation no on my interview appointment sheet differs from the initial one obtained at the point of applying for dropbox renewal but the UID no remains the same. What do i need to do as my interview is less than a month from now.

They didn't specify any document to bring along on my 221g form but i will just go with the likely ones they might request for. All the best

I also picked up today and was asked to schedule an interview. They want me to come with itemized bill and receipts for my childbirth on my first visa. I had renewed that visa and used it only once on a day road trip from Canada (less than 12 hours actually). The annoying thing for me is they had my passport for over 3 months, only to be told to schedule an appointment at the end. And no dates are available right now, the process can be better.

No, it was actually on administrative processing at the time i was informed via email that my pp is ready for collection.

Thanks. I did not travel on the exact date due to some work related constraints but still travelled few months afterwards. Besides, I was single then but married now. Anyways, I hope for the best as i attend the interview.

Did you travel exactly when you filled in your ds160 form? Marital status could also be a factor. All the same fear not, have faith it will be issued

I finally picked up my passport today only to be asked to schedule a follow up interview. Honestly, I do not understand their criteria anymore given that i spent only two weeks out of the 2yrs earlier granted. I guess it's probably due to change in my marital status.

So go and track your at ceac site, but be rest assured all final dropbox applications wld be resolved this week.

I'm in the same shoes oh. In fact, I don tire for these people. I don't understand the rationale behind keeping people's passport for almost three months,.

Would like to give a positive feedback.

So, I submitted my passport for renewal(dropbox) on April 29 and visa was granted July 12. It took a total of 10 weeks

Having read so many recent transcripts about 221g and subsequent denial after birthing in the U.S, I dreaded the trending 221g and Im so happy to have scaled it this time. I got one in 2017, was later refused but re- applied 2 weeks after and got it.

Although, the dropbox has now been cancelled, In my own opinion, I feel you can increase your chances for a successful visa renewal if you also go for vacations in other countries, that way you don't sound like you cannot afford any foreign trips or you are looking to cheat the system.

I paid less than 10k for my last birth. Previous one was even way cheaper and both were through CS. I mean if I want to purchase a good for 100 naira and another person is offering me fifty naira for same quality, why will I for heaven's sake decide to pay 100 naira when I can use the balance for something else. I have never received any public fund or medicaid but I've been able to convince the V.O that I will never in anyway abuse my visa.

I spent 2 months when I went for childbirth in 2017 as stated in my application and have also gone back to the states on 2 other occasions for 2 weeks in 2018 and another again earlier this year.

Also within that 2 year period, I visited the U.k and France.

In all, don't forget the power of prayers. It works wonders as long as you're doing the right thing. Even God wants honesty.

Case Created on March 18(Monday).
Case Updated May 8 - Administrative Processing.
Case Updated May 10 - Issued.
Pick up Mail May 13.
Passport collected May 14.

I've just been informed that Dropbox waiver has been suspended effective today, 14th May 2019. Can anyone confirm this pls?

Nice one. There are so many places you can see within Manhattan. Places like central park, world trade centre, Rockefeller centre, Empire state building and so many more all within the city centre. You will surely have loads of fun visiting these places..

Welldone guys for the good job you are doing. I arrived JFK airport, New York this afternoon and POE was very seamless. The CBP officer only asked me if it was my first time in the US, how long i intend to stay and what i will be doing during my stay. No single doc was requested.

Thereafter, i did the biometrics and he proceeded to stamp me in for 6 mths. Any nairalander currently on vacation in new york can PM me so we could hang out and visit places of attraction together.

Yes, there is., Most online flight bookings are valid for 72 hrs. Just ensure you do the booking on the day of submission as advised earlier. The 72hrs flight booking clause does not affect your application provided it's still valid at the point of submission.

SA embassy places more emphasis on your hotel booking which i will advise you do a paid booking to increase your chances of getting the visa. All the best
