worry 359: People should be aware by now that an "associate degree" or attending comunity college is seen as a waste of time. The piece of paper will not even get you a job washing dishes in a burger bar! You could wipe your bottom with it!
V.O. know all this and look at such applications as people looking for a cheap way in to get job as illegal worker.

Anyone going for F1 visa interview should try to place GOD first (delight in the LORD and he shall give you your heart desires),pray and prepare don't neglect preparation because You ve prayed and fasted well. GboyegaD: If you have it, then it is no crime. Abeg, flaunt am wella and make the VO know say if he denies you, he is denying America the opportunity of having you come contribute your quota.

bigfrancis21: Don't be too desperate to hand over to the VO your extra documents. Just hand over the basic 4 or 5 documents, and keep the rest with you. If necessary, he/she will ask for any extra specific document. Handing over any document when not asked for it puts you off as a desperate person and its not a good impression to give the VO.

jimtosam: What's the company's introduction letter all about? If the letter is about sponsorship, you will present this when you get to sponsor's session of the interview.

JayJsea: Please do not go to the embassy with a wrong address on your SEVIS receipt.

Send an email to fmjfee.SEVIS@DHS.gov stating your problem and it'll be corrected in 24hrs. You won't be able to get the hard-copy but the address in the online print-out will be corrected. Don't forget to include your SEVIS number in your email.

bigfrancis21: Forget the address issue. That is not a problem. Print your online SEVIS receipt and take to the embassy. Shikena! Stop giving yourself unnecessary problems. The embassy also accepts online receipts.

Please for those paying SEVIS and those who have paid, stop worrying about address and hardcopy receipts. The online receipt is also accepted at the embassy. Many members have gone with their online receipts to the interview and all were accepted. The most important thing is that your SEVIS fee payment appears online because at the embassy, your SEVIS fee payment will be verified online before you do the interview.

From July/August this year, SEVIS will stop mailing out hardcopies of receipts. All SEVIS receipts will now be printed online.

annoymous: lolz. just kidding. I didn't see any Chinko lady. interview was in Lagos. appointment was for 10.30. got to the embassy around 8 and immediately joined the queue. after like 30 mins I was bounced as they had not called 10.30 interviewees yet. anyways, eventually got in and overheard a few funny interviews. a couple had stamped fake Turkish visas onto their passports to give the VO the impression that they had travelled out before and were nabbed, and banned from ever entering the USA. this is how my interview went

VO - (with a wide grin) Good afternoon
me - good afternoon
VO - pls pass your documents
VO - why are you going to the US
me - I'm going to study for a masters degree in Public health
VO - why public health
me - most of the diseases that affect us are largely preventable diseases like malaria blah blah
VO - okay. what school
me - Harvard University
VO- why did you choose Harvard?
me - (lyk srzly?) it was a very easy decision for me
VO - (started laughing uncontrollably and gave me thumbs up) I feel you (something like that, can't remember for certain - that was the high point of my interview)
VO - did you do GRE
me - yes (didn't ask for my score)
VO - did you apply to other schools
me - yes
VO - how do u plan to pay for your masters
me - I got a loan from the school and my father will cover the shortfall
VO - what does your father do?
me - told her
VO - what university did you finish from
me - told her
VO - what course
me - told her
VO - what are the other schools you applied to?
me - told her all the other schools. she didn't ask for accepts or rejects
VO - pick up your visa on Thursday blah blah. and good luck at Harvard.
me - thank you

she didn't request to see any documents. and she was even telling a lot of interviewees that she didn't need the documents when they extended dem without her prompting

De Tus: @Yomifowe, don't be silly. Remember you're going to the United States for a non-immigrant visa and you're expected to leave after your studies. In programming language, there's what is called "Information Hiding". My brother and sister are US citizens but i never mentioned that. VOs don't know all about you. Go defend yourself. The visa is already yours.

2. Is she legit? I mean, she is in d school where she claimed she was going. Like her application i20 was ajah but now in ur own school
3. If she is ur blood sister; is ur sponsor still d same?
Why I am asking u these questions is because, once u mention ur sister and she asks for her name, she might just verify her data with yours

bigfrancis21: No, the VO has no way of knowing ordinarily. And they don't usually bother to check. The reason they ask the number of schools you applied to s to know how serious you are about saying. Saying you applied to many schools (eg 3, 4, 5) tells them you're a serious student. And saying you applied only to 1 school tells them you're not serious. Don't ask me why. That's what they've been trained to infer and that's how they apply the rule. So you have to play to their music if you know you want them to grant you visa. If you applied only to one school, don't mention so. Mention 3 or 4. You'll have to come up with your list of imaginary schools, including this one you're going to.

The next question that usually follows is the number of accepts and rejects you have out of the total number of your schools. Make sure you say you had more accepts than reject, say 2 accepts 1 reject. Or 3 accepts 1 reject. Having more accepts means you're academically good and having more rejects than accepts means you're less than average. That's how they see it. So you'll have to play to their music. This is a tip many nlers have used and gotten their visas. Success.
