Politics / President Obama On Attack In Paris! by Yommiefish(m): 11:51am On Nov 14, 2015
"This is an attack not just on Paris, it’s an attack
not just on the people of France, but this is an
attack on all of humanity and the universal
values that we share. We stand prepared and
ready to provide whatever assistance that the
government and the people of France need to
respond. France is our oldest ally. The French
people have stood shoulder to shoulder with
the United States time and again. And we want
to be very clear that we stand together with
them in the fight against terrorism and
extremism. Paris itself represents the timeless
values of human progress. Those who think that
they can terrorize the people of France or the
values that they stand for are wrong. The
American people draw strength from the
French people’s commitment to life, liberty,
the pursuit of happiness. We are reminded in
this time of tragedy that the bonds of liberté
and égalité and fraternité are not only values
that the French people care so deeply about,
but they are values that we share. And those
values are going to endure far beyond any act
of terrorism or the hateful vision of those who
perpetrated the crimes this evening. We’re
going to do whatever it takes to work with the
French people and with nations around the
world to bring these terrorists to justice, and to
go after any terrorist networks that go after
our people." — President Obama on the attacks

Agriculture / Catfish Farmers; Nigeria Spends N100bn On Imported Fish Annually! by Yommiefish(m): 11:03am On Oct 17, 2015
Although the production figure for
catfish in Nigeria has grown from
83,000 metric tons in 2006 to over
900,000 metric tons in 2014, the
Catfish Farmers Association of Nigeria
(CAFAN) insists the figure is still a far
cry from meeting the nation’s
requirements.
National President of the body, Mr.
Tayo Akingbolagun, speaking during
the inauguration of the Edo State
Chapter of the association, Thursday,
in Benin, said the steady growth of
catfish production in Nigeria can be
traced to the activities of the catfish
farmers.
“The potential of aquaculture
production in Nigeria is estimated at
four million metric tons annually,
consumption is about 2.66 million
tons, while the total production is only
900,000 metric tons”, adding about
1.44 million metric tons of fish is
imported which translates to over
N100 billion annually.
He said the farmers have over time
been acting as positive catalyst
through networking, organizing and
execution of trade fairs and capacity
building among others.
He also noted that Nigeria was
blessed with enormous water
resources suitable for any form of
aquaculture, with, “an estimated area
of 1.7 million hectares excluding
marine and brackish water bodies
available for aquaculture”.
Akingbolagun urged the newly
inaugurated body to work together in
harmony in other to surmount the
challenges of the fisheries sector and
promote group spirit and aquaculture
best practices.
In his acceptance speech, the
chairman of CAFAN, Edo chapter, Mr.
Osuzwa Imafidon, thanked the
National President of the association
for accepting to inaugurate the
association in the state.
He said he will help champion efforts
that will make Edo State a leading
player in the aqua-culture industry
while protecting the interest of its
members across the state.

Politics / Why Jonathanians Desperately Want Osinbajo And El-rufai To Fight by Yommiefish(m): 9:16am On Oct 02, 2015
The first malicious tale was cooked up by Jonathan’s Trent blog. (We all knew when Jonathan, Wendell Simlin, aka Reno Omokri, Reuben and co established the online blog for 2015 election campaigns). The lie invented described a so-called clash between Vice president Yemi Osinbajo and Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, with the Vice allegedly storming out during an alleged National Economic Council (NEC) held on 17th September, 2015.
The astonishing truth however as confirmed at the time from those on ground was that not only was there no such clash or walk-out but worse yet, there was no such stated meeting actually held that day. On the very day the Vice President and Kaduna Governor were chatting in the Vice’s office when perhaps having heard the ridiculous rumor invented or perhaps per chance, they tweeted a picture of them together in Osinbajo’s office.
But this evidence did not deter the Jonathanians. They are a very desperate folk. Things are not going nearly how they wish. Funds are running dry and the EFCC is Witch-hunting them.
Before we continue with the cooked-up tales 2 and 3. Let’s state the motive of this rather retarded ploy.
They Want To Paint The CHANGE Government As a Fulani/Northern Empire
Jonathanians are really desperate. They partook in the looting of billions of dollar/ trillions of Naira. The hammer is coming down hard on them. Not only have they lost access to the nation’s wallet, but also they are being globally humiliated and faced with jail. With every passing day they are looking for a way to trigger chaos in Nigeria or to kill Buhari (God will not let). Chaos is always a suitable weapon to disrupt progressive mechanisms and create a pathway for the corrupt.
With Boko Haram having failed to destroy Nigeria as they intended, and coming to an end, sponsoring a Biafran chaotic eruption is their last, desperate resort. This is why you have Radio Biafra suddenly blasting at the top of its voice. It is no accident that the station that used to promote Jonathan, his conference and his army chief-accused of using Boko Haram to loot billions of dollars meant for the army, is suddenly powerfully financed and assisted to broadcast and incite.
The Jonathanians further suggested that Igbos should not accept political positions.
The entire plan is rather infantile:
1. Look for any material or invent it to advertise the Buhari/Osinbajo government as a Fulani empire.
2. Try to get Igbos out of the government and Nigeria’s course to progress, change and redemption.
3. Promote pro-Biafra radical and fanatic groups.
4. Orchestrate and promote Fulani cattle rearer violence across the south.
5. Unleash the dogs, the Femis to write their typical anti-north, anti-Fulani, anti Nigeria disingenuous and falsehood packed tirades.
6. Osinbajo!
Yes, so we get to Pastor Osinbajo.
For them, there is an urgent race to stoke sectarian strife before the full lists of Buhari’s appointees is made and the government is recognized globally for what it is — a government for all Nigeria. The first appointments of a handful of trusted posts which had a northern leaning was the perfect weapon they sought. They have been in a hurry to double down on that and stoke the tension they hope for before the nonsense of a so-called northern agenda is obvious to all as it has been ever since to the enlightened.
But the big problem they believe they have is Pastor Osinbajo.
A well respected and loved Southern Pastor and Attorney of stellate character, loved North, South, East and West and abroad.
Pastor Yemi Osinbajo gives Jonathanians cold chills. How can they promote the Buhari government as a Fulani empire when Pastor Yemi Osinbajo is there as a super powerful Vice president, Minister of the Economy and head of many divisions of the government, perhaps more than Buhari. Reminiscent of the days and memories of Buhari’s former deputy, late General Tunde Idiagbon of beloved memory.
History repeated itself, perhaps due to Buhari’s style. President Buhari always equips himself with a super-human Vice who is presidential in more ways than every. And unlike other many other presidents and countries where the Vice is in the shadows, Buhari enables and empowers his.
Pastor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) is factor 6 but of primary priority. The Jonathanians are desperate to destroy him and diminish him to Nigerians. They are desperate to have him replaced. Thus the concocted tale.
Jonathanians Making Hay Before The Sun Shines
So after a round table discussion they decided that the only way to stoke ethnic tension, to create sentiment against the Buhari-Osinbajo government was if Osinbajo was sidelined. And since the opposite was what was happening, they had to invent the sidelining.
While discussing this with a very sharp individual, he said, “they are trying to make hay before the Sun shines.” Indeed it is so. They decided to use all their media platforms to stubbornly invent, recycle and reinvent a tale of the Vice being sidelined and a “Fulani” northerner being the defacto Vice. Nasir El-Rufai, was the perfect candidate. And so it was.
After the non-meeting of September 17th, the Jonathanian Trents press published the fake story of a fight. Vanguard came up next and recycled the story.
With the story not proving the hoped effect fast enough, they decided to make up the second tale building on tale number 1. The Vanguard cooked up a nice tale about actual tense matters in the APC party and in that tale they silently re-broadcast the cooked-up tale of a so-called fight between Osinbajo and El-Rufai (Roofy!) and they then added that quashing the alleged fight was an agenda of the APC Oyegun summoned meeting.
Next was time for edition and re-broadcast 3. In an October 1st publication, as the list of Buhari’s ministers was being leaked proving Buhari had no northern agenda and was a fair president even if politically compressed, a certain Vanguard author, Ochereome Nnanna released a title “El Rufai ‘insults’ Osinbajo – déjà vu” in which he re-broadcast story 1 of the invented meeting and cooked-up clash; he then re-broadcast cooked-up story 2, of the invented APC meeting agenda to “discuss the conflict,” and there they added plenty more senseless and staccato thoughts about El-Rufai’s so called past political history in Obasanjo’s era. they named everybody, Ribadu, late yar’Adua. Any name to make the tale. They added some more cock and bull stories invented by Jonathan’s Trenst online blog claiming Osinbajo was fenced from a certain National security meeting at the beginning of the Buhari administration, when he was actually setting off for Sudan to proudly represent Nigeria among other African leaders at Bashir’s inauguration, some more cock and bull propaganda about an invented locking of the Aso Chapel and they concluded propaganda step 3.
We can expect more of these juicy tales by moonlight from the Jonathanians. Nigerians are however wiser than them. We wish all the Wendell Simlins Goodluck and success in their endeavor. This corrupt race of “humans” along with their party, is going extinct, soon to join the dinosaurs to be viewed in museums as a bad predatory humanoid product of failed Darwinian evolution.
Make unna carry go if them no sue you, nothin do you!

Health / The Hidden Secret Behind Toothpaste Bottom Color by Yommiefish(m): 4:25pm On Sep 29, 2015
You probably did not know this or ever pay attention to the bottom color of the toothpaste you buy. Well after knowing this,
you will probably consider looking at your toothpaste before buying it next time. They are all differently labeled, with a different color, depending on their composition.

And their meaning is this:
*.Green – All Natural
*.Blue – Natural + Medicines
*.Red – Natural + Chemicals
*.Chemicals Black – All Chemicals
Some try to oppose this label by saying it has nothing to do with the composition and that the composition is written in the ingredients list.
But there are multiple articles showing that this is the truth. And in the end, the decision is yours.

Agriculture / How Painstaking Are You In Managing Catfish Fry! by Yommiefish(m): 11:31am On Sep 23, 2015
How many times have you heard or said, 'I don't just have time'. This isn't an uncommon expression in aquaculture practice. It’s a
common expression and an easy escape
hatch among part time fish farmers who also are involved in hatching or breeding.

But it’s a phrase, and an attitude,
that you’re going to have to change if you
want to achieve success and a record breaking growth in your business. It has often been said that the best fertilizer for any farm is the farmers feet. To achieve a record breaking harvest in catfish production also you must add the fertilizer of DILIGENT CARE and EFFORT all of which requires an amount of time. Most farmers have lost considerable investment to this attitude and blame it on every other things except themselves. I know of a friend that lost over 200,000pcs of fingerlings in few hours because water was not changed on time. It has also happens to me and quite a number of farmers.

The truth—one that many people wish
they could ignore—is that diligent care and effort are the
fertilizer that enriches your farm, particularly when it comes to breeding of catfish. It fuels your observation
efforts and help you initiate appropriate measures on time. It keeps the
lights on. And, hopefully, it rewards handsomely
and guarantees the outcome that you are proud of.

If you stop and think about it, there’s
literally no business or endeavour that doesn’t require time and effort in some way for it to grow
. Getting good result in breeding
requires effort and attention to every details of the practice, it requires you rolling your sleeves and getting to work.

Have you any struggle in getting your fingerlings out. Take some time out to observe, to study and learn. There is always a way out if you will devout the time and effort require. You Are Closer to your breakthrough than you imagine.

Success!

Politics / A Paradigm Shift – The Way Forward For A New Nigeria by Yommiefish(m): 12:15pm On Sep 17, 2015
There has been an avalanche of criticism from some economic commentators regarding what is perceived as “lack of economic policy direction” of the Buhari Government. This is claimed to scare away foreign investors and lead to the lower economic growth, loss of value on the stock market, among other issues.
The argument around the authenticity of the perceived economic growth in the previous dispensation remains an argument for another day. After all, between November 2014, and February 2015, the Nigeria crashed nearly 30%. In 2014, the Nigerian stock market crashed and at the end of the year was rated the one of the worst performing in the world. Blaming PMB for economic crises is quite unfair.
However, the BIG QUESTIONS for today is this: Is there really lack of policy direction? Are the investors and economic players unable to discern nor align with a NEW way of thinking? Are the beneficiaries of past policies which constitute the 1% elite (plus foreign investors) trying to fight against the new paradigm?

Whether deliberately or not, what has been overlooked by most of those complaining is that a major paradigm shift is happening. This was sounded by President Buhari a few days ago. This new thinking clearly indicates Nigeria’s new economic trajectory. While speaking at the Catholic Bishops Conference which held a few days ago at Igwurita near Port Harcourt , President Buhari represented by Vice President Osinbajo made the following comments:

“Our fight against corruption is not just a battle of virtue and righteousness in our land, but it is a fight for the soul and substance of our nation. Corruption in our country is endemic and it constitutes a parallel system, corruption has made a potentially prosperous country struggle to feed and provide jobs for its people.
Hundreds of thousands of infants and maternal mortality statistics, hundreds of thousands deaths from communicable diseases are traceable to the greed and corruption of a few, “Nigerians should think of resuscitating the nation`s economy because two-thirds of Nigerians lived in extreme poverty. Efforts should be made to create an enabling environment for enterprise, plan and make a budget that would cater for poor Nigerians.
They must be helped, first to survive, and then, fully participate in the economy of the nation. Consequently, we must create tenets for the very poor and vulnerable, while ensuring that social spending also resurrects investments in the economy. We must invest substantially in relevant education; teachers training and vocational and entrepreneurial training,”

In this speech, the president indicates that there is need for a paradigm shift from what is today obtainable in Nigeria where economic policy is focused on a few, to economic policy focused on the two thirds majority. He believes developing the people is a major economic policy shift.
This type of thinking is not only unique in Nigeria of recent times, but is Godly. The development of the poor and needy is the heart of God. Individuals, institutions or nations who have such a focus always become greatly blessed.
It is said of John D. Rockefeller, that he considered himself an “angel of mercy “to the poor. This passion drove Mr Rockerfeller to continuously driving the price of fuel lower and lower, taking on opposition and attempting to enable that every person could buy his product. Eventually he controlled over eighty percent of the market at a time. He became very wealthy.
Even after his company was sued and broken up to over thirty separate companies, he retired and spent over forty years in full time philanthropy. The separate entities born out of Rockefeller Company grew to become some of the biggest oil companies globally, thus making the Rockefeller family even richer. Today Mr Rockefeller remains one of the richest men in history.

The greatest assets of a nation are its people. Non-mineral rich nations such as Germany and Japan are on the forefront of wealth because of developing their people. Same is the case of Israel, the least in terms of oil resources in the Middle East, yet the most developed nation in that region.
President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo have repeatedly reiterated the need to look at the masses. In one speech, the Vice President indicated that the school feeding program would inject close to one trillion naira into the economy.

Imagine what will happen in Nigeria if business leaders, Churches, schools, media and others focus on developing products for the masses? Suddenly, there will be much cheaper houses, banks will focus on ways to finance those at the bottom of the pyramid, programs will be put in place to convert their land or their energy to money for purchase of things, a virtuous cycle will be created, more of the poor will be pulled up into the economy, thus enabling more spending power, and the economy will grow in reality, and not just on paper.

It is necessary to support the leadership by emphasizing this new paradigm. This is the way forward for a new Nigeria. A nation that values the importance of all its people.
Nigeria just like other nations loves to celebrate its people. We pick up stories of excellence here and there, where our people do well. Perhaps there are hundreds or a few thousands of such stories both known and unknown. Having had our image battered globally, we quickly celebrate these oasis of good stories.
It is a good thing to celebrate with modesty. However, it is NOT sufficient to have just a few hundred or thousand success stories. Great nations are made up of millions of exceptional people who every day do extra ordinary things to move their nations forward.
Focusing on the two thirds majority as economic thrust will shift Nigeria into a nation where millions of people do extra ordinary things.

Investors are welcome to any country. Policies must be made to enable foreign investors play in Nigeria. This is good business practice. However, Nigeria is fighting systemic corruption from the past. It will be expected that the 1% elite, who have been the center of economic policy over the years will scream, shout and threaten to pull out their investments.

PMB must be supported to maintain a firm footing on establishing the new paradigm centered around the Nigerian masses- the forgotten two thirds.
There is no serious economy that is primarily driven by foreign investors. If the citizens of a nation are well to do, and have money to purchase products, foreign investors will come in. A nations primary investors should be its own people. Foreign investors should be a secondary source of wealth to complement the citizens.

Millions of Nigerians should be rich enough to have the disposable income to buy up stocks and shares when Nigerian companies and parastatals are privatized. Nigerian institutions should mainly be owned by Nigerians.
Nigeria cannot wholly depend on foreign investors to turn its economy around. No body can love our nation better than we. In a time of crises, foreign investors will sell and exit; citizens will weather the storm.
it is strategically unwise for any nation to be over dependant on foreign investors at the detriment of its people.

Where citizens are the economic players, it is also strategically unwise for a handful few people to solely determine the economic destiny of a nation. Wealth should be widespread.
Whereas Rockefeller mentioned above had a heart for the people and grew rich, his company eventually became monopolistic. In that era, a few Americans virtually owned the economy. America was then a fast growing third world country, with a large economy, a few rich people and masses of poor people. This changed when millions of Americans rose up to challenge the status quo through the courts. The people won, the nation changed. A new crop of business men such as Henry Ford emerged. This were men who focused on developing products for the masses. For moved the car from something of a privileged few to one affordable by the masses. The middle class grew, the nation grew and became a developed nation not too many decades later.

Let all Nigerians not only support this new paradigm laid out by the nations leadership, but get all hands on deck to press forward towards the building of a new nation.

Agriculture / Multiple Streams Of Income Through Catfish Farming! by Yommiefish(m): 9:32pm On Sep 05, 2015
It is no longer news that corruption has eaten deep
into the fabric of the society and the
entire nation is suffering from the
effects.

With deep and clear studying of the
situation, you will discover that the
system itself is encouraging this
menace. Or how can you explain the
fact that someone earns less than
500,000 naira per annum and he or she
is expected to pay the school fees of
more tha one child, house rent,
transport, feeding and so on in a city
like FCT or Lagos, or any other city for
that matter?

If we don't want corruption to continue,
we must profer solutions to the income
and earning challenges of the people.
One major way to curb this is by
encouraging individuals to have
multiple sources of income.
Like Nigeria, her people must also do
every possible thing to change their
normal mono-income practice if we
hope to solve the problem of
corruption. Without additional pay,
there's no way people can survive. If
expenses are increasing, income also
must increase, else, the status quo will
remain!

Therefore, multiple streams of income
is the key to Solving financial hardship,
and also corruption in Nigeria.
One major area to get additional
income is in Agribusiness. From this
industry, an individual can create
multiple streams of income for him/
her self if engaged in the value chain
approach.

This means that from one single item,
several products can be gotten along
the value chain. E.g Fish.

From fish, the following are value chain
products :
* Fingerlings / juveniles
* Smoked Fish

* Table size production I.e fish above
1kg size.
* Fillets
* Feed milling
* Feed ingredients supply
* Finished / imported feed sales
* Fish drug/ supplements sales
* Pond construction and management
services
* General Fisheries consultancy
services
* Processed fish export
* Brood stocks production
* e.t.c

We can see that more than 13 different
income lines can be generated from
fisheries alone.

The same applies to all other Agro
items. An individual can create a
multiple stream of income for him/her
self if equipped with the right
knowledge and training.

At BIC Farms Concepts, we help
Africans to identify opportunities in
Agribusiness, tap into it, and also,
become role models for others to
follow and then repeat the same.

Contact us if interested in any area of
Agribusiness value chain need.

To your success.

Politics / An Unbelievable Comment From An Igbo Man On Buhari’s Government!!! by Yommiefish(m): 6:37pm On Sep 05, 2015
Ndigbo’s that are killing themselves about
the appointments made so far by President
Buhari are just funny. Aside the fact that we
Igbos shouldn’t expect sensitive
appointments from him because many of us
hate him without any justifiable reason and
no smart politician will give such positions to his ‘enemies’, what did all our brothers that occupied sensitive positions recently
achieved for our geopolitical zone? Recall
that Igbos recently occupied head positions
in Central Bank and Ministry of Finance.

Also,an Igbo was recently appointed Secretary to Government of the federation, Minister of power, Minister of Solid Minerals, Head of Due Process unit, Minister of Education, Minister of Aviation, Executive Director of Nigerian Communications Commission, Chief
of Army Staff, Inspector General of Police,
Senate President, Deputy Senate President
and Deputy speaker of house of Representatives. Also recently, an Igbo was
appointed the Director General of National
Broadcasting Commission. The question is
what did all those Igbo appointees achieved
for Ndi Igbo? Even Goodluck Jonathan that
you foolishly accepted as your brother during his days in Aso Rock achieved nothing for you when he was the President.
If appointments can dictate how a region
should develop, southeast would have been a paradise by now because our brothers
occupied almost all the sensitive positions
recently. Another thing Igbos should
understand is that the federal character
principle they are quoting as their basis of
argument is the greatest enemy of Nigeria
especially Igbos. This principle champions the promotion of tribal mindsets instead of
meritocracy in Nigeria as Nigerians are
always after the state of origin of every
federal appointee and prospective candidates for admissions instead of their performance.
It is because of same federal character that a provision was made for ‘Education less
developed’ states which always make it
possible for indigenes of those states to be
giving more and cheaper consideration
during admissions and recruitment in order
to promote equity in line with the federal
character. This is Rubbish! Such has caused
situations whereby somebody from Anambra or Imo will score average of about 260 in JAMB UTME and POST- UTME but will be denied admission while somebody from
states like Zamfara, Ebonyi or Bayelsa will
score average of about180 and will be
admitted in order to achieve the so called
equity in intellectual distribution among all
the states in line with same federal
character. Same federal character is the
reason why instead of criticizing the
performance ability of appointees, Nigerians especially Igbos will only be interested in their states of origin.
Federal character is evil. This is the hour of
change and it must be jettisoned! If Nigeria
must progress, we must do away with federal character and state of origin provisions and encourage meritocracy and state of residence. I don’t care where appointees come from, all I want is excellent performance. If the wailing Igbos like they should continue hating Buhari while the Niger-Deltans are busy consolidating their region and supporting his government. At last Igbos will remain the wailing losers. It baffles me the way some of my Igbo brothers are hating Buhari without any justifiable reason. Even the Niger-Deltans that are closer to the failed government of Goodluck Jonathan always acknowledge that he betrayed them, but the Igbos that are not in any way brothers to the failed President are killing themselves and even their conscience with baseless sentiments. Also, I have expected these misguided Igbos to understand that the Niger-Deltans who they foolishly took as their brothers during the elections are not at any point with them.

These Niger-Deltans have understood that
they can’t make any political achievement in
Nigeria without the cooperation of other
tribes, and wisely began to issue their
supports and cooperation to the Buhari led
government while the misguided Igbos are
still enslaving themselves with baseless
sentiments. Believe it or not, political
appointments are catalysed by intelligent
lobbying and not unnecessary hatred. No
smart politician will appoint his haters to
sensitive positions.

I will never blame Buhari if he fails to
appoint any Igbo to key positions. I am proud of Niger- Deltans and they are already reaping the fruits of their wisdom. Igbos should have a rethink!

Agriculture / Re: The Burden Of Low Quality Feed In Catfish Business! by Yommiefish(m): 4:53pm On Sep 01, 2015

You have raised a valid question which probably our government needs to look into. Why do I bring in d govt issue? There are so many adulterated feeds in the market & nobody is controlling them. The other day I bought a fake Artemia from the market & two separate productions were wasted couple with money used to buy the feed. Everything went down the drain. My brother what is the way forward. Everybody cannot compound its feed and besides where is the fund?
Thank you brother for your input. I think the awareness is already mounting and this is one of such avenue.
Agriculture / The Burden Of Low Quality Feed In Catfish Business! by Yommiefish(m): 9:30am On Sep 01, 2015
There is another serious challenge I have seen among catfish farmers. A situation where several amount is spent on feeding of fish only for everything to be lost. With all hard work; changing of water, sorting/grading, ensuring fish are fed to satiation, disease control, plus other operational cost etc, and yet it is like little or nothing is working except for working for the feed manufacturers.

I have even noticed another challenge, at least recently, despite the general consensus among catfish farmers that members should 'hatch' and produce their fingerlings themselves or insist on the 'first set' from a reputable breeders (this is what is making waves among grow-out farmers today); all with an intention of getting the best stock and able to determine the growth of the stock- combined with aggressive feeding with both imported and locally formulated feeds to maximize profit, yet little is still been achieved.

Even more disturbing is the fact that given this same set of fish a 'particular' locally formulated feed the fish suddenly pick up growth(This is a practical experiment carried out in one of the farm I supervise). I know other farmers can really relate with my challenge and can deduce what am driving at. To my mind, this is a very big issue. Having stocked the right fish, given the proper management, a farmer should get a fair share of his labour, a good return on his investment.

Let me state the conclusion of the whole matter here: It is not just the quality of fingerlings stocked as generally believe by farmers(I seriously believe this contribute a lot though) or the failure of management or poor water quality that results in the poor growth of our fish, much more than that is the quality of some of the feeds we have in the market. Feeding alone sweep about 70% percent of farmers operational cost and yet nobody is asking question. How do you explain why some 'big' farms prefer to import their feeds(I would not want to mention names) or why are some brand of feeds reserved for the privileged few and the left-overs for an average farmers. I know a brand of feed that produce different quality of feed for different market. This isn't too good enough.

I challenge our feeds manufacturer to improve on the quality of their feeds. An average feed cost about #4000 and yet farmers aren't getting value for their money. Farmers do not have problem buying, so far we have the right content. Also farmers should be watchful of the quality of feeds they use. There are different nutritional content for different crumbs of feeds for different sizes of fish. Let us endeavour to stick to the right feed for our fish...

All the best.

Phones / Re: Why I Will Never Use Tecno Phones Again (good Reason) by Yommiefish(m): 4:55pm On Aug 30, 2015
EMERITUS85:
have been a fan of tecno since their birth until i discovered that tecno is a scam yes i said it tecno is a scam.

to make the story short i bought a tecno flagship phone the almighty phantom z last year and believe me the phone is superb with a good display but considering the price i bought it 59k it supposed to worth it. fast forward to 2015 the phone still remains a flagship tecno phone because no other tecno beats it's spec but how can such a flagship phone still runs kitkat even when lollipop is now rampant on Chinese brands like infinix gionee etc. considering the amount i bought the phone i think I deserve a lollipop update instead of making customers money valuable to them they are busy producing scrap in the name of phone while their media paid hypers will hype the Useless scrap to the extent of comparing c8 to iPhone (abomination)
well in the end i have to sell my over priced phantom z which i bought 59k not less than 1 year as low as 29k and right now am a proud user of infinix hot note pro updated from 4.4 to 5.1 (that's value of money)

please don't tell me that tecno is cheap thus update are not necessary because infinix gionee are also more cheaper but are churning out updates for their customers that's what I call value of money.

if you want to buy a phone with sure ota update go for

gionee (best when it comes to Ota)

infinix(happy they kept their promise)
Bro, you really succeeded in spoiling Techno market here. Myself for once after this post will never consider Techno. This what the power of a dissatisfied customer can do to a brand. Techno should listen up and attend to customers issues as a matter of importance.

Yommiefish, I appreciate your information but this your 1:1 FCR; I doubt it. I am not a fish breeder but as per the 2nd law of thermodynamics, you cannot have a 100% efficient physical system. how can 1kg of feed produce 1kg of fish. Fish will poop, move around etc
. This is why I added 'all things being equal'. There are some feeds brand that claim such, but other factors are inclusive, management, quality of fish etc.

Whynotthetruth:

1)What's the cost of tarpaulin pond that can raise at least 1000 fingerlings or even juveniles to maturity?...

2)What's the cost implication of raising like 5000 fingerlings or juveniles to maturity both in terms of pond & feeding?...

3)Can earthen ponds be improvised?...As in built outside the normal sea or river or lagoon or swamp side

thanks
T#1 The Cost is between 80k - 90k

#2. In terms of pond - you multiply the cost above by 5. I.e You will need 5 of the pond I mentioned. And on Feeding, Using 1:1 as our FCR- You will need a kg of feed per fish to attain minimum 1kg weight of fish( All things been equal). A bag of feed(imported) is about 4500-5500. This gives you about #300-#350 to produce 1kg fish. To produce 5000 therefore multiply 300 or 350 by 5000 plus your cost of ponds

#3. Depending on your soil texture sir. But even at a dependable texture you will still require steady supply of water to make up for leakages that will arise from time to time. Alternative you can use a semi-earthen(This is d only close substitute for earthen.

@Yommifish,

Who made this request?

"We" here mean Myself & Ihustler who seconded my request and mostly likely many other silent NLers that don't necessarily comment. I was silent for many years before I even signed to NL.
Thanks for your comments. I quite appreciate you.

I have never seen a lady driving danfo in Lagos. So before we conclude on the statement "what a man can do, a woman can do better", make ladies try to drive danfo especially mile2 area side and I am sure you won't be able to share your testimony in the church grin

Agriculture / Re: EU Ban On Nigerian Food Exports by Yommiefish(m): 12:09pm On Jul 31, 2015
This is a really a sad one for our emerging industry. It is a pointer to the fact that we've got a lot to do in our 'quality control' efforts. I hope the fish processing industry quickly retrace their steps and step up efforts at sticking to the global guidelines for food processing, we are a way too young for this ban. God bless Us.
