Politics / Bayo Onanuga: Those Questioning Tinubu’s Academic Qualification Are PDP Agents by YorubaIsGreat(m): 5:22am On Jun 26, 2022
The Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Campaign Organisation on Saturday, decsribed the allegations by Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy against the Presidential Candidate, All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, as untrue.
Mr Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Communications of the organisation, stated this while responding to the allegations levelled against the APC candidate for the 2023 Presidential Election on his academic qualifications.

Onanuga, who spoke in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said the group was only bringing up issues where there was non.

He said the APC presidential candidate was more than qualified to be Nigeria’s president.
NAN reports that the civil right group, in Abuja on Saturday, said it had given the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police a 48- hour ultimatum to arrest and initiate criminal prosecution against Tinubu for allegedly supplying false academic qualifications to secure nomination.

The Legal Adviser of the group, Mr Kalu Agu, threatened that should the I-G fail to act, a court action would be instituted against him (the I-G) for an order of mandamus to compel him to effect the arrest of Tinubu at the end of the ultimatum.

Agu alleged that the former Lagos State governor was not legally qualified to become the next president of Nigeria on account of supplying false information on oath, in his Form EC9 submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He alleged that in 1999, Tinubu claimed to have attended Saint Paul Aroloya Children Home School, Ibadan between 1958 and 1964 and Government College Ibadan, between 1965 and 1969, only to turn around in 2022 that he never attended any primary or secondary school in his EC9 form.

The lawyer claimed that the petition, calling for arrest and prosecution of Tinubu, was submitted to the I-G since June 16.

He, however, lamented that up till now, the police authority had not deemed it fit to effect the arrest of the politician.

Agu explained that the position of his group was not politically motivated but predicated on the need for good governance and transparent leadership Nigeria deserved in the 2023 general elections.

But reacting, Onanuga said in 1999, the former governor did not submit any fake certificate to the electoral umpire.

According to him, the one (certificate) people keep refering to that he submitted was not even filled by him.

He recalled that the Lagos State House of Assembly exonerated Tinubu in its report.
“Asiwaju was exonerated in the House of Assembly’s report because Senator Afikuyomi said he filled the form on his behalf then.

“The same certificate he gave to INEC this year, he used in 2003 and there was no issue then. Why are they raising issues now?

“And what people don’t know is that when he was on exile, his house at Balarabe Musa Crescent in Surulere was burnt by the military and he couldn’t pick out a pin from the razed building.

“This was what happened that time and if in 2022, he (Tinubu) now drew blank on that session, what offence has he committed?

“Those who are making noise are PDP agents who are just trying to raise issues where there is none,” he said.

The campaign spokesman further said that all one needed to have attained to be Nigeria’s president is a school certificate but that the APC candidate had qualification higher than primary school certificate.

“People making noise are PDP agents. They cannot just be coming out to raise issues where there are non-issues.

“He (Tinubu) is more than qualified to be president of Nigeria,” he said.

Politics / Tinubu: Bayo Shittu Thanks Northern Governors, Says Asiwaju Is Next President by YorubaIsGreat(m): 9:00am On Jun 25, 2022
DIRECTOR General, Asiwaju Tinubu Presidential Campaign Organization, ATPCO, Barrister Bayo Shittu, yesterday, said the organization was working assiduously towards the emergence of Tinubu as next president of Nigeria, hence the need to put all resources together to make the exercise impactful and successful.

He, however, revealed that the challenges ahead of Tinubu before 2023 elections may be daunting but he will triumph.

Shittu, who was former Minister of Communications, disclosed this while addressing press conference at the campaign office in Ibadan.

The DG was of the view that the business of marketing Tinubu would be easy because he is a man of immense goodwill. According to him: “This organization, as the name implies, has been setup principally to galvanize support and midwife the electoral process that will culminate into our candidate winning the 2023 presidential election.

“While we were working towards the emergence of Tinubu as the candidate of our great party, it made sense to have so many groups. But now that our leader has become the party’s bonafide presidential candidate, it is best that we put all our resources together to make the exercise impactful and successful. “At this juncture, may I start by expressing profound appreciation and gratitude first to the northern APC governors for their overwhelming and ice-breaking support for our Tinubu before APC’s presidential primary election.

This was at a most-defining game changing moment which substantially galvanized support towards Asiwaju’s eventual triumph.
“Secondly, our gratitude goes to President Buhari for his maturity, selflessness and patriotism in supporting the earlier resolution of the northern APC governors.

This most stabilizing presidential ingenuity contributed, no doubt, in uniting our great party towards a successful presidential primary.

“Last but not the least, is our other presidential aspirants who withdrew from the presidential primary, out of respect for Tinubu as our party progress. They all deserve the applause of all Nigerians for their maturity, patriotism and sincere love for our great party.

“We are ready to take Tinubu’s presidential campaign to every nook and cranny of this nation. We shall get to all the 36 states and the FCT, we shall be in all the 774 local government areas of the country, and we shall visit each of the 8.813 wards in the country.

“We shall get in touch with all eligible voters and reach every Nigerian. This is a very important campaign and we shall give it all that it requires, we shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that Asiwaju emerges as the duly elected president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after the 2023 presidential election.” He assured

Little wonder the fraud would rather save up and tied up capital than deploy it towards infrastructures thereby increasing the poverty rate of Anambra state from 20% to 68%.

Politics / 2023 Presidency: Why Peter Obi Is Overrated – Joe Igbokwe by YorubaIsGreat(m): 7:31pm On Jun 24, 2022
As Nigerians eagerly anticipate the 2023 presidency, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos chapter, Joe Igbokwe, on Friday described the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as “overrated “.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Igbokwe, a top campaigner of Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the ruling APC, berated Obi for a past comment condemning President Muhammadu Buhari’s system of stimulating the economy via erecting and renovating critical infrastructure.
“You can’t use infrastructure to drive economic growth,” Obi said at the time during an interview on Arise TV. “You invest in education and the SME (Small, Medium Enterprises) sector instead to deal with poverty,” he adds.
Making a flashback to the statement, Igbokwe reprimanded the former Anambra State governor, concluding that he is “just a trader”.
“Somebody who wants to be the President of Nigeria is telling you that infrastructure does not drive the economy in the 21st Century and you are taking that person serious. Peter [Obi] is overrated in Nigeria. He is just a trader,” he wrote on his known Facebook page.

Politics / South-South APC Leaders Pledge Support For Tinubu by YorubaIsGreat(m): 12:58pm On Jun 24, 2022
Leaders of the South-South Zone of the All Progressives Congress have thrown their weight behind the presidential flagbearer of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 general election.

While addressing journalists in Abuja, National Chairman of the APC South-South Zone, Victor Giadom, disclosed that they have asked all members of the party from the six states in the geopolitical zone to help Tinubu achieve his presidential ambition next year.
Giadom made the statement after hours of closed-door meeting with a delegation of the South-South leaders, including former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun; Senate Deputy President, Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Lucky Imasuen.

According to him, the APC is determined and will do whatever it takes to ensure that Tinubu successfully takes over the governance of the country from the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), after the 2023 general election.

He said, “We congratulate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for emerging as the presidential candidate of our party and thank him for the steps he has so far taken to unite those who contested that election with him and to assure him that the South-South zone will support his ticket.

“The South-South Zone in that direction has resolved to work with him and the party to ensure victory in the 2023 general election.”

While pledging to work harder to restore the party dominance in the six states of the region by 2023, the leaders of the APC South-South applauded Amaechi for his political maturity and show of sportsmanship after losing the presidential ticket to Tinubu.

“We appreciate Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, our own son and former Minister of Transportation, who came second in the presidential contest, for the party unity he has demonstrated after the presidential primary.

“We, therefore, urge all party members in the South-South zone to embrace the presidential ticket of our party to ensure victory in 2023,” Giadom stated.

He also saluted the president and the APC northern governors for their commitment to the unity of the country and for allowing a level playing field for all the aspirants.

“We congratulate them too for the patriotism for which they demonstrated in ceding the presidential ticket of the APC to the Southern part of the country,” he said.
