What is wrong with Nigerians!! There is no mention of Trump in the statement given by Kanu Family and you guys are already bleeding with a mere fictitious crap. I am a blogger and was one of the first to publish the news. How could the Kanu family accuse Trump of plotting with the FG to kill Kanu and they turn to beg the USA that Trump is the president of, to intervene? We should engage our brains at times na. Haba!! |
It is more necessary and much better we do a critique on the write-up with in-depth understanding than attack persons. |
The current realities that bedevil the so called unity of Nigeria or the one Nigeria spirit are unique and logically connected to the foundation of Nigeria itself. It is of course, a mere rhetoric to assert that the foundation of Nigeria is inequality and division and it is expected, nothing suggestive of unity or togetherness can ever come to be if the basis is not addressed. To justify this fact and possibly make suggest remedies, we shall draw reason from the interview of Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Saduarna of Sokoto and the god of the north with BBC jorunalsit back in 1960. Here is the interview. Question: One thing I have noticed while I have been here is that northerners seem to have the worst form of obsession about the Igbos, could please explain that? Ahmadu Bello: Well, the Igbos are mainly the type of people whose desire is to dominate everybody. If they go to the village or town, they want to monopolise everything in that area. If you put them as a labourer, within a year they will try to emerge as the headman of that camp...and so on...well. We are not alive to their responsibilities because you can see from our modernisation policy that in 1952 when I came here, there weas less Northerners in our service. Then I fought. Now all important posts are being held by Northerners. Question: Is this policy of filling all the posts in the north solely with northerners and no Nigerian a temporary or permanent one? Ahmadu Bello: In actual fact, what it is, is a northerner first. Then if we can't get a northerner, then we take an expatriate like yourself (looking at the interviewer), if we can't then, we can employ another Nigerian, but on contract too. It is not going to be permanent as far as I can foresee, because it will be rather vengeance to see many of our boys are now turning from all institutions without having work to do. Am sure whatever government it will be, it will be rather embarrassing; it might even lead to black-sheep. Question: It might damage the idea of all people in all regions of Nigeria being par citizens of one country. Ahmadu Bello: well it might but...amm...we are known to our reasons...how many northerners are employed in the east and west? The answer is none. And if they are, they may be only ten labourers employed in the two regions. Now Let us reason together: The claim of dominance of the Ndigbo at that time was so baseless. The northern elites failed to establish the connect and disconnect between progress and dominance on the one hand, and dominance and envy of the massive success of Ndigbo all over Nigeria at the time, on the other hand. The Igbo people were even prior to the establishment of the Nigerian state widely known as adventurously industrious people. The Igbo person is condemned naturally to work, because his society does not appreciate and is very hostile to idleness and failure. So you find in him that strong appeal for success which is a natural instinct and sheer spirit that propels him to strive, work hard and, of course, expectedly make progress (hit success). How endangering (or as Ahmadu Bello put it, domineering) the success of the Igbo person is to the host community, could be attributed to either the laziness and inability of the people of the host community to match-up with the pace of achievement the Igbo person sets or, the condemning natural and man-made forces of poverty the people of the community battle with. So, hatred is expected, and when the justification for such hatred seems impossible to reconcile, the foreigner (igbo person) is attacked with some frivolous and gibberish grounds of being domineering. The north if, they had the faintest belief in one Nigeria, would accept the fact that as at then, majority of educated Nigerians were the Igbo people (south east and south south) and the Yorubas (south west) It was self indicting and contradictory that same elites who forced their people to sternly resist education from the missionaries for either fear of being enlightened and turning away from Islam and participating more actively in government or, the fear of the people illumining their minds and questioning the totalitarian systems of government in the north then. And so, dark mind and vague brains were all the Northern elites needed from their people to drive their personal interests. Could same be said in Igboland? Have u even got the Obi to fully accept the decision of the Igwe without having one or two questions to ask, just because he was educated? Neither would the elders dish out self-gratifying judgements that don't appeal to logic and truth without thinking through the accompanying bashing from the younger ones. And that's why they say that "igbo ama eze (the Igbo doesn't know king)"; for everyman is a king in his own house. Ahmed bello postulated that Ndi-igbo for their spirit of achievement and economic adventure are a threat to his northern people, Ladoke Akintola agreed with him in his speech where he claimed Ndi-igbo dominated the law offices in the West and filled the positions in Obafemi Awolowo University which he claimed are Yorubas ‘; majority of Ndi-igbo are abreast of and do agree the fact that Obafemi Awolowo connived with the Hausa-Fulani to suppress Ndi-igbo…division deepened Major Kaduna Nzeogwu felt corrupt politicians from all parts of Nigeria should be killed so we can start a new Nigeria and he carried out a nationalist revolution which was foiled and partially successful, as it saw majority of northerners assassinated and South Eastern elites by sheer luck, escaped the revolution. The consequences were too much of a price to pay. Ndigbo unfortunately earned the recompense as we saw one month of horrifying massacre of Ndi-igbo by Northerners in September, 1966 and the (genocidal)holocaust of 1967-1970, subtly termed Civil War…division deepened In 2012, one of Africa’s Charistmatic and most famous, yet, richest pastors, David Oyedepo sternly spoke amidst shouts and hallelujah sound from his attentive congregation, for the break-up of Nigeria, drawing to reason that to stay together isn’t by force as Nigeria has no basis for unity…division deepened Today, the resurgence of the voice for separation is here. Calls for the break-up of Nigeria are in every quarter. We have held on for too long the unity of a country that refused to be united. Nigeria does not know unity as its existence never predicated on unity. The assertions draw from the politics of the north, defining in its entirety the proposition of the “north first and the north only”, a proposition Ahmed Bello and other past northern leaders held sway…division deepens. Just barely three months, of its flag-off, the multi-million naira dual building project of Legendary Musician Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo (KC) and his money-bag younger brother, Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-money, is fast-rising with intense work ongoing on the site; money is speaking, you may say. The two brothers that are closer than twins, after a long spell of abuse and ridicule from their kingsmen and relatives for not having a single block laid in their father's home, finally decided to silence their attackers with the village-record breaking project. They hail from Amamputu, in Uli, Ihiala Anambra State, a little village with self-made millionaires who are mostly resident outside the country. We can't wait to see the completion of the grand-making project which is the talk of the town in the area. Jesusloveyou:I haven't been irrationally sarcastic on this platform especially, joining issues with intellectually unbalanced elements but I think I should do the needful viz set right your thinking knot. First, disregarding a message, a point, a discourse and attacking the convener is an outright expression of incapacitated brain. Secondly, had you looked up the word "whisked" in the dictionary, you might have probably had a grasp of what is does mean. But to help your sorry self, "Whisk" means to hurriedly or speedily take or move sth or sb. Is it controvertible, the fact that Northern elements have been so unduly perplexed and vexed with the recent milestones Osibanjo has been achieving which Buahri in his 2years never neared, which are attested to by Buhari's wife and top APC officials? Do you also controvert the fact that Osibanjo, in the last one month, has gained more popularity than Buahri. These realities set the northern power-drunk elites on their heels and they hurried flew in the President so he can rule by proxy and the north can hold on to power. I don't know how so illogically subjective your mind is but I would advice that you get your mind devoid of the senseless thought that every truth set out on your politicians is sentiment induced. |
Why are Northern elites so drunk in Power? Buhari was hurriedly whisked into the country just to destabilize the efforts of Osibanjo. One thing they hated so severely was the recent tour of the Acting President in the Niger Delta to reconcile issues of national importance and some moves like the appointment of the CJN which they had vehemently opposed because they wanted to install a Northerner. The President is incapacitated, and go to any length, that is just the fact. To ensure the events of 2010 doesn't repeat itself, they have sent back a man that even the blind can see clearly his frailty. I just weep for this country...we profess one Nigeria but majority of our northern brothers and sisters only think one Nigeria as one north. It will be so intriguing, the drama that will unfold....let us watch and see. Tinubu and Obasanjo will be up to counter their Northern counterparts in a subtle war. |

HOW I STARTED LOVING THE IGBOS. THE MYTH: As a boy growing up on the street of Port Harcourt, I was told so many horrible things about Igbos. I was told that Igbos were planning to push Rivers people to Abia State for the people of Abia to inhabit Rivers State because of our resources. I was told that Igbo people enslaved and ruled over my people in Bori the traditional headquarters of Ogoni Kingdom. I was told that Odumegwu Ojukwu, Onyeka Onwenu and other prominent Igbos brazenly rejoiced over the execution of my uncle Ken Saro Wiwa because of the role he played during the Civil War. I was told that it is better to be slaves to Hausa-Fulani than to be brothers to Igbos because, Igbos are worse than Hausas. THE EFFECTS These things made me to terribly detest Igbos beyond what you can imagine, I was always skeptical, cynical and suspicious while dealing with Igbos. It also affected my friendship with Igbo guys, I was always careful not to be a victim, no matter how they value the friendship, as long as they are Igbos, they were bad eggs to me . It also severely affected my relationship with Igbo girls, 70% of the girls I have seen are Igbos girls but I have never treated any of my Igbo girlfriends fairly because, I programmed my mind not to be interested in anything beyond the fun attached to the chemistry of boys and girls stuff while dealing with an Igbo girl, I didn't want to make the mistake of dating an Igbo girl to the extent of marrying her. THE DISCOVERY. I was posted to Akwa Ibom State for my national youth service in November 2013, there I made so many Igbo friends, almost 60% of Akwa Ibom corps members are from Igbo extraction, mainly from IMSU, FUTO, ABSU, UMUDIKE, ESUT and IMT. There I saw how determined a typical Igbo youth is, there i saw the natural tendency for economic success in a typical Igbo guy, there I saw the reason why Igbos are entrepreneurs allover the globe, there I saw that God specially gave them the metaphysical eyes to see money in things and where you don't even think of smelling money, there I saw that even though the Igbos have had severe political travails and marginalization, they will forever remain the economic salt of Nigeria, even after the restoration of Biafra. While we were serving, those of us who are Port Harcourt breed UNIPORT/RSSUST corps members were always complaining that Akwa Ibom is beautiful but not groovy like Port Harcourt, we were always complaining that the town is dry with no night life like Port Harcourt. But our friends from the Igbo extraction were seeing things differently, they saw Akwa Ibom as a beautiful virgin land highly in need of economic exploration, they saw huge business opportunities in where we saw boredom. We were complaining of the insufficient N19,800 alawi while they were seeing it as potential small scale business capital. We used our alawi to club in one night because, we didn't see it as good enough to help us, while our Igbo friends inject it into their small scale businesses. We were always going to Tropicana to see movies while our Igbo friends are busy going to Lagos to bring wears and jewelries for us to buy. We were always calling home for money but our Igbo friends were sending money home instead. At the end of my service year, I said I was going back to Port Harcourt because I believed Uyo was too dry for me to hustle, but my Igbo friends stayed back because they saw Uyo as a land lacking business and as such, it's good for them to make money through the introduction of different businesses. THE REVERSAL. I came back to Port Harcourt then pondered on my experience with these Igbo brains, I then realised why people hate them, I felt bad seriously for wrongly hating them all these while, I decided to love them because, they have the kind of zeal I'd love to emulate. THE CONVICTION. When I was fully convinced that the Igbos are not only my role models but my blood was when they went against all odds to make Goodluck Jonathan their own, they loved him even more than some us from the South South, they gave him their full support at the poll not minding the consequences. Ever since, I couldn't stop loving Igbos but to love them even more. One who follows the British born writer and columnist, Colin Freeman, will possibly develop some mild shock over his sheer exposition, you may say, of the the exasperated machinations and intrigued drama that have concealed the IPOB-Nigerian case. Freeman takes us through the experience so far, revealing his file of investigative journalism. And don't be suprised, if the IPOB get the favours from his stand point. "Today, Igbo people live everywhere from Canada and Dubai to China. The original Radio Biafra, "which broadcast propaganda" from a jeep-mounted studio to avoid Nigerian warplanes, fell silent. But eight years ago Kanu restarted it from London, and as the 50th anniversary of the conflict looms, it is once more campaigning for self-actualisation. As Kanu once put it, ‘No amount of intimidation, arrest, torture, deprivation will stop Biafra from coming.’ This time, the campaign is also enjoying its very own ‘Brexit boost’. For if Britain doesn’t want to be part of the European superstate, why should Igbos remain part of a disastrous behemoth like Nigeria, with its 250 different ethnicities, 500 tongues and 170 million people? After all, five decades on from the war, the Nigerian state has become a byword for inept, corrupt government, with the world’s 10th biggest oil reserves, yet 60 per cent of people living on less than $1 a day. ‘Brexit asked why Britain should remain in a system that does not fit it,’ says Emma Nmezu, a Radio Biafra DJ and supporter of Kanu’s movement Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). ‘Kanu says it is the same with us and Nigeria.’ Until recently, Kanu was politely ignored by the outside world. To many Igbos, he was at best an expat dreamer. Then, after years in which nobody took him seriously, the Nigerian government did just that. During a visit to Nigeria 15 months ago, he was arrested by its feared Department of State Security at a hotel in Lagos. Ever since, he has languished behind the peeling walls of Kuje Prison, where he is now awaiting trial for ‘treasonable felony’, punishable with life imprisonment. One plank of the case against Kanu, 47, is a recorded speech to the 2015 World Igbo Congress in Los Angeles, in which he allegedly gave a call to (Igbos) to carry arms (to protect themselves from the terror group, Boko Haram). ‘We need guns and we need bullets,’ he declared. ‘We now know that the best way to defend yourself is to be armed, because [Islamist terror group] Boko Haram is everywhere.’ A call Kanu’s lawyers justified by stating that it was just overexcited rhetoric, and that no shiploads of weapons ever crossed the Atlantic. But justified or not, his arrest has turned him from a loudmouth expat into a political prisoner (a leader, one can be re-assured). In his supporters’ eyes, he is now Peckham’s own Nelson Mandela. Since his arrest, there have been pro-Biafran demonstrations in nearly every country with an Igbo presence, and bigger ones in the Igbo homelands of south-east Nigeria. In the city of Onitsha – the scene of heavy fighting during the war – crowds of 20,000 turned out, holding placards of the saviour from south London alongside the Biafran flag, a red, black and green tricolour emblazoned with a rising yellow sun. And the blood has been flowing once again. Since the autumn of 2015, at least 150 IPOB Members have died in clashes with security forces at pro-Biafran rallies, according to a report in November by Amnesty International, which accused the Nigeria government of heavy-handed policing and ‘extrajudicial executions’. Hundreds more have been injured and arrested. Further violence is a near-certainty if Kanu is convicted, a prospect security forces can ill afford while their hands are full with the fight against Boko Haram. Yet the furore over Kanu’s arrest has gone all but unnoticed in Britain, where the 200,000-strong Nigerian community is generally much seen but little heard. In areas like Peckham, though, Nigerians now vie with hipsters for dominance. Continue reading here:http://igbobia.com/?q=the-nigeria-nnamdi-kanu-case-british-columnist-colin-freeman-writes.html

Speaking in Abuja after receiving an award conferred on him by a coalition of over 80 civil society organisations (CSOs), Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff, strongly warned that the army would not tolerate any act that could lead to the disintegration of the country, while promising that insurgency would soon be a thing of the past Of course, of all the groups clamouring for sovereignty, the campaigns of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) are the most pronounced, having in some circumstance, to clash with security agents In his speech, Buratai asserted very sternly: “those individuals and groups that are bent on destablising our country I think they have to wait till may be the next three or four millennia for them to do that. That is, may be the next generation of officers and men will allow them at all,” he said. “Having been given the millennium hero award, I want to call on all the agitators for separation and other acts of destabilisation, they better forget it, not in this era, not in this millennium. “I want to say that we would continue to do our best to maintain security atmosphere that is needed as provided for in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. We have been tasked to defend our country. “We have taken a number of measures to ensure that the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists who are on the run are finally cleared, many have surrendered, many of them have been captured.” http://igbobia.com/?q=forget-biafrait-cant-be-achieved-in-my-generation-buratai-chief-of-army-staff-fires.html CC: Mynd44 Lalasticlala

Court of Economic Community of West African States has just struck out a request by the Nigeria government asking the court to hands-off from entertaining the lawsuit filed by the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu over the gross abuses of his human rights by the Nigeria government. The proceedings at the Ecowas Court sitting in Abuja commenced shortly after the arrival of Ecowas Court judges (Hon Justice Chijioke Nwokoye, Justice Micah Wilkins Wright, Justice Yaya Bairo and Justice Allone Sall) at exactly 10am this morning of March 7, 2017, alongside the two legal counsels, Hon Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor(Prosecuting Counsel) and Hon. Barrister S.I Labaran(Defense Counsel). Following the introduction of the two counsels, Hon Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor representing IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu told the court that his client has been incarcerated for over 16 months despite several court injunctions by Nigerian courts granting him unconditional release. He told the court to uphold the suit filed by his client by granting him bail and imposing the necessary sanctions on the Nigeria government over the gross human rights abuses of his client and his followers as contained in the suit. However, Counsel to the Nigeria government, S.I Labaran objected and told the court that it lacks the jurisdiction to entertain such case, as the case is still being presided over by a Nigerian court. He also told the court that IPOB is not an ECOWAS body and therefore the case should be struck out. Reacting swiftly to the tensed argument between the Counsels, the Ecowas court judge, Justice Chijioke Nwokoye rebuffed the objection of the respondent for lack of merit. The judge explained that both Nnamdi Kanu and the Nigeria government are members of ECOWAS, therefore the court has every jurisdiction to entertain any case brought before it by both parties. The presiding judge however adjourned its ruling on the lawsuit filed by Nnamdi Kanu to April 27, 2017. http://igbobia.com/?q=ecowas-court-strikes-out-fg-suit-to-restrain-the-court-from-handling-the-case-of-nnamdi-kanuadjourns https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGdc-f8W_tU

Our society of course, is replete with domestic violence as people are daily molested and subjected to mindless bashing that most times leads to severe consequences; even death. A woman (she chose to be anonymous), yesterday, wrote to Due Process Advocates exposing the hell she and her children have been passing through in the hands of her husband. The problem was said to have started about 2 years after their marriage and was subsequently fueled after her husband lost his job.
