You can't dictate to anybody how to spell a name. Example, the Turkey that you mentioned. See below

The issue of John, James, Jesus etc are issues of transliteration which happened from many languages down to present day English language.
The English popularized those names in the various countries they colonized which led to their proliferation today. Those names are even used in the English Bible. However, most of those names ended up being changed whenever the Holy Scriptures was translated into any other language.
For example, Jesus in English Bible became Jisos in Igbo Bible and Jesu in Yoruba Bible. Even in the Arabic world, many different countries and cultures spell Mohammed differently as a result of transliteration.
In the case of hateful people like you, spelling Igbo as 'Ibo' isn't a case of transliteration. 'Igbo' as a single word exists in the Yoruba language. You can spell 'Igbo-ora', Igbomina, Ijebu Igbo etc easily but find to spell 'Igbo' (the name of another ethnic group) to be long. It clearly shows how devious you are. I could learn from you and start spelling Yoruba as Yeribad. After all, like you wrote, you can't dictate to everyone how to spell your name.

This now brings me to the Turkiye issue. The UN and US government have accepted to start officially writing Turkiye in formal documents. This is how it should be. Hateful goons like you can persist in referring to them as Turkey.

I'm not talking about intonation here. The pronunciation of 'gb' by MOST Igbos is more explosive than how Yorubas pronounce it. If you listen attentively, you'll pick up the difference.
'Gb' pronunciation can be slightly different not by any specific word but culturally. Exactly the same way the letter 'n' isn't stressed in Yoruba when it ends a word but most Igbos do stress it when pronouncing 'Ibadan' or 'Osun'. As you can see, it's a cultural thing.
This however, isn't the point of my argument on the discussion.

Any Yoruba person who says it's easier to write and pronounce 'Ibo' instead of 'Igbo' is a criminal. The diagraph 'gb' exists in the Yoruba vocabulary which is used daily when speaking Yoruba language. It is inexcusable for a Yoruba person to feign ignorance of the insistence of Ndigbo that our language, people and land be properly spelt as 'Igbo'. Pretending not to know that Igbo is the correct spelling doesn't exonerate you from being called to order.
