PoliticsWhy Sanusi Alleged That 50 Billion Dollars Was Missing by yunfazz(op):
It is a public knowledge that CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido claimed that that about $50 billion went missing or diverted and not being remmitted by NNPC in year 2012 and this has caused so much controversy as the letter purported written by Sanusi to the President was leaked to Gov Amaechi who then capitalised on that to make political stunt and media revelations

The biggest factor here is that Sanusi's CBN Governorship expires in 2014. If you understand position of power, especially one which a CBN governorship position has been made to be in Nigeria, you will realize that leaving the position at this time may make him less relevant in scheme of politics ahead of 2015 election (forget the rhetorics of him retiring to his Kano Village). So writing the letter to the President in private means : To try and use last moment effort to parley with GEJ and show his 'commitment' to his (GEJ) administration in anti-corruption's campaign. The questions here: Why now? Why few months to expiration of his tenure as CBN Governor is he writing this 'private' letter? Why this time? Is it that his eyes have finally opened up to see the looting and massive corruption in the Nigerian system that he decides to write to the President instead of his normal revelation of scandals to the press or expose through public lectures where he is usually 'special guest'? Before some one says otherwise, of course he is entitled to write private message to the President, but the Sanusi we all know that loves public stunts and controversy acting to curry affection from GEJ?

However, even if he alleges that $1 trillion is stolen annually, no one will dispute that because of the massive corruption we Nigerians and the youth know our leaders, politicians and looters to steal public funds and has caused even the urborn generations of this country, but funds being offically collected or remitted into CBN or federation account being stolen under leadership of CBN Governor or Ministers calls for condemnation. The Heads should be held accountable. Imagine, Ukraine, an european country needs $10 billion loan from Europe or Russia to stay afloat and keep it from brinks of collapse (someone might ask if Ukraine is as big as Nigeria)

Moreso, Sanusi's allegation may be spurious - when about $38 Billion was the national budget in 2012, how can $50 Billion dollars officilly collected be amount stolen - not that every one dollar should not be accounted for? Actually, when Sanusi was calculating his calculations, he failed to factor in the 60:40 sharing formula between the FG and the oil coys with attendant sundry expenses from the same earning.
I don't think the problem of an average black man is his inability to read but rather his inability to comprehend what he is reading.....a simple case is this scenario where a budget of $38 billion in a fiscal year suddenly gave birth to a $49 billion 'missing funds'! The question now is, how come?

Not a fan of GEJ especially his manner of speech and funny hats, however, despite the daunting challenging he still one of the most under-appreciated President Nigeria has. If Nigerians are not okay with him, 2015 is by the corner, we all can push him out with our votes

Let Sanusi pls retire from seat so we have less controversial figure who will focus on monetary economics of the nation
Music/Radio8 Reasons Why Artistes Need Managers by yunfazz(op): 5:41pm On Dec 13, 2013
Saw this and i believe it is very educating especially for artistes who need to manage their careers well

All artists need management! When starting out as an artiste, your manager will wear many hats. A manager has to be a cheerleader, psychiatrist, advisor, guide, problem solver, and what can be affectionately referred to as babysitter.

A good manager will guide you protect you from bad business deals, and shady people as if his or her life depends on it.

It is important to note that having a bad manager is worse than having no manager at all.
The more successful you get, the bigger your team gets. Eventually your team will consist of a manager, an agent, a lawyer, concert promoters, your Artist Development Rep, road manager, a business manager, and others but you must start from somewhere

1. Career Guidance - It's often extremely difficult for artists to step back from the day-to-day activities and see the big picture. A knowledgeable manager can see how everything in the big picture fits together, and can help the artist navigate through the often-confusing maze of activities that seem unrelated yet are all part of a massive jigsaw puzzle. The manager provides career guidance and helps to set the overall game plan for the artist and the artists' team to follow. For example in the case of Olamide, after Tony Payne disengaged him from her outfit and seems to be having his career going south after the monster hit, “Eni Duro”, he contracted a manager (name withheld) who was able to help guide his budding career and within a year or more, Olamide was beckoning a force in the industry and now dining with “the kings”

2. Cheerleading - Even though fans are the main cheerleaders for an artist, someone has to communicate the same enthusiasm to the music business community. An artist manager will trumpet the artists' message to record labels, booking agents, promoters, media personnel, club bookers, independent retail accounts, etc., in order to keep them all engaged and enthusiastic. A vivid example here is the case of Wizkid after being a studio rat since he was 11, was introduced to Banky W’s co-led EME Records by a female manager some years back and aside the Record Label taking up the mantle of grooming Wizkid, the manager able to “Cheerlead” wizkid to the record label and corporate/general public

3. Prestige - According to most record industry professionals, there is something to be said about an artist that has a manager. The logic is that if an artist is good enough to attract management, there must be something of value present. In fact, most major labels (not the mushroom “record labels” that dot the entertainment scene in Nigeria) refuse to sign an artist unless they have solid team (manager, booking agent, attorney and publicist) in place. An artist without management is just too much drama! Labels would rather deal with someone who knows how the music business works and can make decisions on a non-emotional basis. Imagine everyone who want to have D’banj as a performing artiste for their event calling him directly to book him, of course they could even ‘price’ his performance fee to N10,000 whereas if you call his manager, you could end up paying as high as N8 million (depend on the clients)

4. Buffer - A manager can act as an effective screening buffer between the artist and people that want to do business with the artist. This buffer tends to attract legitimate industry players while at the same time scaring away scam artists. There are no scarier words to a scam artist than "please talk to my manager". Example here could be as the same way explained in No. 3 - Prestige

5. Time management - There simply is not enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done in order to further the career of an artist. In between writing songs, conducting interviews, designing artwork for CD's and merchandise, managing a mailing list, filling out copyright paperwork, rehearsing with the band, hiring and firing producers, updating artistes websites and social media profiles, getting pictures taken, shooting and editing DVD's and YouTube videos, sending out packages and/or updating EPK's, researching, repairing and purchasing equipment, liaising with media outfits etc., there isn't time to also craft a master game plan, solicit potential sponsorship partners, reach out to industry gatekeepers, attend industry networking events, harass labels for tour support, and so on. Some tasks can be delegated to the project while others can be handled by the manager who still coordinate them and then regularly update the artiste whose career depends on everything. Few artistes in Nigeria such as D-banj, P-square can afford to have strong management team of Business Manager, PR Manager, Tour manager and so on in their management team but they all started from somewhere!

6. Accountability - Part of a manager's job is to hold people accountable. What happens when the financial tour support that was promised by the label fails to materialize? Or the check from the booking agent bounces? Or the Radio station and TV stations are not playing the artiste song? Or the licensee fails to sign and return the contract but is using the artist's songs anyway? Somebody has to keep people honest, and that is most appropriately the manager's job.

7. Good Cop/Bad Cop - Need to fire the bass player or team member not performing optimally but don't want to create an enemy? Let the manager play bad cop and do the firing. Need to re-negotiate your contract and request more of a promotion budget? Let the manager play good cop and keep a positive spin on the proceedings. There are plenty of occasions when the artist and manager can trade off playing good cop/ bad cop.

8. Sounding board - A manager, even though basically an "honorary member of the band", is frequently on the outside looking in. Managers usually see things differently than the artist, and can often provide different perspectives, insights and solutions to problems the artist is encountering. Running ideas by a knowledgeable manager prior to making decisions often allows for good ideas to become better and bad ideas to be removed altogether from the to-do list.
If you want that record deal, you need to bring yourself to a certain marketable level before approaching record labels. That means making an investment of time and money. You need professional music production, exciting pictures and a serious internet presence! Bring your music directly to the people and build up your fans! If you're successful enough on your own, record labels will start approaching you, and then you can dictate the terms!!

BELOW ARE SOME OF THE IMPORTANCE OF A MANAGER:

• A good manager can expand an artiste’s career to it’s maximum potential
• A manager helps you with major career decisions, such as deciding which record company to sign with, whether to make a publishing deal and how to negotiate
• They help an artist decide on which songs to record, which image to go for and source endorsement deals (GLO, MTN, and other brands)
• A manager promotes your career by hyping you to everyone they meet & coordinate publicity campaigns
• They help you assemble a legal team and select booking agents
• Managers coordinate an artist’s concert/performance tours by negotiating deals with promoters, making sure payments are processed and booking contracts are signed and agreed upon
• They’re responsible for putting pressure on the artist’s record label to maximise marketing campaigns for albums, making sure the artist is treated as a priority
• A good manager takes the rap for tough decisions an artist has to make

PoliticsMUST READ: How Life And Death Of Mandela Has Affected Me As A Nigerian by yunfazz(op):
Yes, he is a South African and am a Nigerian yet this man has made me proud as an African. Many would ask, when so so and so Nigeria popular celebrities or figures died, how many South African condoled with us Nigerian. But I ask, how many have been like this enigma callled Madiba? How many would go to prison for 27 years for fighting for his people and come back from incarceration and live without any bitterness against
his oppressors and their race and yet be at peace with the world? Incarcerated when you are supposed to be with wife, children, family and enjoying life of family to the fullest? Yet appealed to the psyche of his fellow black south African to forgo and forget the ill-treatment meted to them by their white countrymen for centuries and went ahead to empowered hitherto helpless citizens and chose to lead them on the path of forgiveness and reconciliation. How many figures in recent times has shaken the world all over with his death? Check social media timelines, PMs, DPs, TV, Radio stations and so on since the announcement of his death hours ago. An African shaking the world over!

If Obasanjo, Buhari, Babangida, Tinubu, Jonathan, Amaechi, etc die today, how many will be celebrated like this; in fact, there would be relief, joy and happiness among millions of people over the death of some of them! Even if Obama, Cameron, Putin, Merkel of Germany die today, surely they will grieved over but I tell u, they would never EVER have the impact that this black African enigma has had in few hours or days of his death

This man's live and death has shaken the world over. His person, struggle, live and death has got me questioning: where is the love...love among us as human, love among us Africans, love among religious and ethnic people of Nigeria to provide equality among various ethnic people of Nigeria? Can our "dear" leaders learn from the live and death of this man and have change of heart even if they have worst of leadership past and correct mistakes of the past to make a change! You don't need to be imprisoned for 27 years or be a political leader to make change like Madiba but how can you and I change our local environment to make the world a better place

This man has made me proud as an African and as a black, i to want to make a change in every little way I can! The Greatest human leader in recent times!

PoliticsFact To Show That Nigerian Mainstream Press Has Been Bought Over by yunfazz(op): 9:25am On Nov 29, 2013
it is so pathetic that this singular act of wickedness by a serving Governor meant to protect the rights, welfare, lives, businesses and conditions of the people he was elected to serve as their "Chief Servant" (please disregard the other governor that is just carrying the tag) but has turned to "Dictator in Chief" (DiC). If you missed the story, click https://www.nairaland.com/1534719/go-die-oshiomole-tells-widow

Going online this morning, apart from Sahara reporter, Nairaland, blogs, social media networks, no single mainstream or traditional media outfits carry this story to expose this act of wickedness to the common man on the street who does not have access to internet. Cant find on local TV stations either!

Assuming it is Oduah-gate, election rigging, GEJ scandals, or any other stories that is all about PDP, everywhere will be screaming with "tantalising" headlines, "investigative journalism" etc that the whole nation and even foreign media would be bought over and brainwashed!

When a lot of people thought APC is the better alternative to the PDP that have held us hostage for years, it is obvious that the country is in deep deep deep deep trouble (yes, i intentionally mention the word "deep" several times) with all the old generation parading themselves as "progressives", PDP Chieftains and political leaders

imagine the story of a Canadian mayor who was accused of smoking pot (not even caught red-handed), the whole media including CNN went berserk! As leaders, they are not supposed to be emperors but

Admitted that the woman maybe selling on the road or contravening laws to feed her family (most Nigerians use this as excuses to get sympathy) , but as true leader, there are ways Oshiomhole could have handled the situation without exposing his wickedness, cruelty and silliness (it is good anyway so we know the kind of leadership we have been voting for!).

Nigerian youths especially those who come on social media and forums to make ill-informed comments with the kind of cosmetic economies and edited propaganda these thieving leaders are selling us just for their selfish interest, We better watch it. Showing us hospitals, schools etc they have built, roads and toll-gates they are constructing, power generating stations they are commisioning or planning to do and so on all on media stations so that they tell the world how they are performing and we buying these hook, line and sinker.....Gosh!

How many times have you seen London mayor, California Governor, or Paris mayor showcasing all the spoons, cups, beverages, indomies or pizzas they bought for hospitals or schools in their constituents all over media outfits and stations.......yet, the same leaders will say that we should not compare Nigeria to develop countries but will only do so when it favour their selfish political interest by saying "thats is what is acceptable as global practice"

As a man, watching the video, didnt know when tears started rolling from my eyes.

Am sad!
Music/RadioHow Don Jazzy's Twitter Rants Exposed His Business Foolishness And Selfishness by yunfazz(op):
As written by Ms. Uduak Oduok who is an Entertainment Attorney

I began writing, yesterday, about the recent potential legal drama between Don Jazzy and Wande Coal to discuss the alleged claim of Intellectual Property theft and legal issues present, which I will still do, albeit on a different post. However, while writing, I just got tired, like really tired of the state of the industry and the foolishness being served of late.

Eyin Nigerian artists eti su mi, really (you Nigerian artists make me weary, really). Sheesh. Y’all can be off the hook, many times. You’ve got a grown man and so called boss for that matter such as Don Jazzy displaying foolish behavior of the highest order on twitter; and crying about a problem he created in the first place.

What are we supposed to do Don Jazzy? You are the business man, you also should have some scars to show from the epic Mo’Hits fallout/ dissolution that you “get it.” Didn’t you at least learn something from that? What’s good? I really tiyah, for real.

ON A DAY THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALL ABOUT TIWA SAVAGE’S RELEASE OF HER SONG ‘EMINADO’(Goodluck charm) featuring Don Jazzy, Don Jazzy totally pooped on that parade and brought the bad luck charm by undermining Tiwa Savage’s shine with his silly cries on twitter about an alleged theft by his former artist.

Are Wande Coal and Don Jazzy mates? What rubbish?! Why is Don Jazzy, the egbon (older one and adult) and most importantly the boss getting on twitter and stooping down to this kind of level as a business owner and leader in the industry? It is embarrassing and unacceptable. It also is ridiculous because from the facts, HE CREATED THE PROBLEM.

How can you not have your split sheets in place as a producer? I don’t care if the artist is your mother, father, sister, brother, girlfriend, wife, gay partner or what have you. You get that in place!

How, at this point in your career, do you get into a studio with your artist and not delineate the lines on who owns what? If you made music under Mavin Records, the music belongs to Mavin, if you signed the proper legal documents evidencing this basic arrangement. You’ve got the sound recording belonging to Mavin. The lyrics and composition also probably belong to Mavin, at least a large portion, given the kinds of agreement I see artists sign with labels in Nigeria with certain aspects in music publishing that differs from us here in the States, so why are we even here?

You clearly did not do this because Wande Coal can produce the original demo song of which he co-authored with you; with no delineation of those rights spelt out. Are we suppose to cry or be sad for you? Why?

As Wande Coal correctly indicated in his tweet, Jazzy has Coal’s phone number and contacts and could have easily contacted him to resolve the dispute, privately. He did not do so. Instead, he chose to follow an impulsive, selfish and egotistical act on twitter that instantly shifted the attention from the release of Tiwa Savage’s beautiful ‘Eminado’ video, all in less than twenty four hours, to a showing to the world that Nigeria’s music industry and its leaders have no focus, no direction and is a big joke.

When was the last time you saw any of the label heads in the USA, including Jimmy Lovine, Diddy and even Kanye West get on twitter to fight artists who allegedly steal their work?

Okay. Hold up. Wait a minute. Don Jazzy, if you are invoking the law and claiming infringement of your “intellectual property” what exactly are we doing on twitter? That’s all legal speak which means lawyers get involved to either help work things out and get you compensated on some licensing deal, for the sampling or explicit copying of your work, or we get into the courtroom. What are we doing on twitter?

I am truthfully exhausted with the frequency/rate of foolishness coming out of the industry from leaders and industry professionals at large. It is alarming and you should be worried about the state of this music ecosystem, if you care both about your country and music, in general. This is unacceptable.

Don Jazzy owns Mavin Records. Tiwa co-owns 323 with T-Billz. Shouldn’t Don Jazzy at this point in his career know that he undermines the marketing and selling of Tiwa Savage’s song with this foolishness? What’s the brand partnership agreement they signed? Anyone have a copy because there should be a clause preventing this kind of behavior. Yes, I am really tired with the foolishness.

Our industry is just looking a big mess and very stupid to me right about now. We look foolish both locally and internationally. We act stupid with our business ventures, we are very reactionary on social media, we let egos get in the way, from the likes of Jason Njoku to his ex-CEO Michael Ugwu. Y’all didn’t think that I thought Ugwu came with clean hands did you? He was one of the first shouting on AML, right here, when I questioned the rapid jump and growth of IROKO into the music market under IROKING, about how I was dead wrong and all the m/billion page views IROKO received blah, blah.

Well, what happened? Ugwu was the CEO of IROKING, and he did not deliver. That was his terrain. Granted Jason Njoku’s egotistical self got in the way and he released the foolish press release that created what has to be the worse PR and disgraceful employer/employee and pr fail ever for a new brand; but nevertheless, what the heck? IROKING is being scrapped under Ugwu’s watch as CEO. What happened to all the “b/million” views et al. Ugwu had a responsibility to also deliver.

Have y’all heard of Chinedu Echeruo? The Nigerian-American who created HotStop in New York and this year allegedly sold the company to Apple for $1Billion? For all the years Echeruo helped build and operate his company, you never heard the fella display the kind of ego that he should arguably display. As he said, he checked it at the door, and today, we all point to him as a shinning example of what a successful Nigerian owned business and entrepreneur should look like.

Can we all take a page from Echeruo i.e. have a healthy dose of humility, get your entertainment business in order and have even more humility? Who said it would be easy? Practice!

Our industry was exciting, fun, young and filled with so much hope but in less than two years, it looks a shamble. From 9ice, Mo’Hits, Knight House, Storm 360 to eLDee (I am unsure why everyone keeps leaving Trybes Records, including Sarz, of late), EME, to Chocolate City and so many other labels in between, you gotta ask, what the heck is going on? Our creativity is at an all time low and we spew nonsense both on our airways and in our music videos thinking we can sustain this industry with the mess. Industry, what’s really good? Is this it? Like are we for real? Many of you who read AML are industry leaders. What’s really good, leaders? Seriously?

Artists walking out on label and management deals like they are visiting red light districts for one night stands, labels with no basic music business skills promising artists heaven and earth and getting screwed, plus left with heavy debts to deal with, diarrhea on twitter from industry heads and professionals who should know better as a means to resolve their legal issues and the list goes on. Common folks, give me a freaking break!

We want to be like the West, yet we lack the common sense to set the legal precedent and have our Nigerian courts determine legal issues that can move our society forward; to ensure the sustainability and success of our industry. Jesus, what’s with this foolishness? Really? Why do we as a community of business owners and industry professionals keep choosing to display juvenile behavior on social media platforms that really undermine the industry; and also affect our sister industries like fashion and film?

We are now at an age where the young ones look up to us and WE MUST respect ourselves with our dealings in front of them and with them. The baton has passed on to us and we are doing a terrible job as it stands with how we carry on with the business of music and resolving our issues. If we have issues with our young ones, then sort them out privately because if we can’t respect those behind us, guess what, they won’t respect us either and what lies ahead will not be pretty for us.

I, for the life of me, have no idea why we are even here. Can anyone tell me? Oh! Don Jazzy says Wande Coal stole his song from him. Don Jazzy at every step of this particular brouhaha clearly failed to protect the alleged rights stolen, which is unacceptable from a seasoned businessman, artist and music producer WHO WAS THE LABEL BOSS FOR A YOUNG MAN THAT HAS WORKED WITH AND LOOKED UP TO HIM FOR HIS ENTIRE CAREER! But, oh! We are suppose to cry with him on twitter. Because why?

Oh! And don’t get me started on COSON, MCSN and all the other entities adding to the current foolishness in the industry.

*Sigh* I’m tired from all the foolishness. Sheesh.

-Uduak

FamilyStrange Food Combinations Some Nigerians Eat by yunfazz(op): 9:18pm On Oct 26, 2013
When it comes to food, trust me some Nigerians do know how to combine but some food combinations marvel me and i begin to wonder how some enjoy eating such combinations. Some strange combinations i have come across include the following (if you have been a student of tertiary institutions, you would also agree with some):-

1. Rice and Yam with Okro Soup: Rice is highly rich in carbohydrates so also is yam and adding the 'draw' feel of Okra; known in many English-speaking countries as 'lady's fingers' is a "balanced diet" combination for those who eat such. Please don't puke if the mere picturing this food combination irritate you

2.Indomie and yam: Just pass by most mallam food sellers at night especially in parts of Lagos and you see some northern and Niger folks eating this combination after a tedious work day. Like P-sqaure would say, 'haba habactically!'

3. Ewedu, Egusi, Efo Riro, Bitterleaf Soup Combination: I know some may argue this but it's definitely true. Some even do worse combination and you wonder how they wouldn't have stomach 'earthquake or diarrhea.

4. Pounded Yam/Amala/Eba/Fufu with fried egg: We are used to eating meat, fish or other protein with these staple food but in the absence of the mentioned protein, some would eat fried egg to 'balance it'. At least, protein na protein

5. Concotion rice with Garri: This usually is the practice in students' campuses - especially during exams time when 'owu don blow person' - during which money and food are scarce and everyone seem to be in examination mood. During this period, most are even thankful for something to eat!

6. Garri and maltina: Since Garri (processed cassava flour) which is almost entirely carbohydrate, it is then good to step it down with very rich multivitamin drink, isnt it?

7. Bread and Plantain: Since people eat hot-dog, preparing and eating customized African hot-dog is not bad after all!

Kindly share yours too

FashionThe $10 Million Most Expensive Bra, Comes With Two Bodyguards (PHOTOS) by yunfazz(op):
When a bra (some might wonder, 'common bra'!) cost 10 million dollars, then you wonder what more can one say?

Supermodel Candice Swanepoel (she came in 10th on the Forbes top-earning models list last year) will carry $10m (£6.2m) worth of bling around her bust at annual Victoria’s Secret show which is watched by millions of people worldwide and is already being
considered the greatest honour in lingerie modelling.

The 23-year-old will take to the catwalk wearing the iconic Royal Fantasy Bra and Belt designed exclusively for Victoria's Secret by world-renowned jeweller, Mouawad.

‘They had to make a mold of my body to be able to make [the bra], I was really excited,’ Swanepoel told People magazine. ‘I tried to imagine after they’d done the mold, how would they make it, how it would look. My imagination didn’t do it justice. My favourite part is this beautiful 52-carat pear-shaped ruby. Every part of it is exquisite.'

The Royal Fantasy Bra and matching belt are adorned with over 4,200 precious gems from around the world including rubies, diamonds, and yellow sapphires.

Hand set in 18 carat gold, the bra also features a 52 carat, pear shaped centre ruby.

As well as wearing the luxurious lingerie in the show in December, the blonde bombshell - who hails from South Africa - will also don the design in the 2013 Victoria's Secret Dreams & Fantasies Catalogue.

This is the first time Candice has been given the honour of wearing a Victoria's Secret Fantasy Bra and she follows in the footsteps of the likes of industry heavyweights Miranda Kerr, Tyra Banks, Gisele Bündchen, Heidi Klum, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima and Claudia Schiffer.

‘I’ve never worn anything this pricey, and we have to put gloves on when we put it on. It’s kind of a big ordeal. The bra comes with two bodyguards and we have to handle it with a lot of care!’ she added.
As the blonde bombshell prepped for the show, she tweeted to her followers: 'So excited to be wearing the fantasy bra this year in the @victoriassecret fashion show!'

Like Omawunmi will say, 'this is a serious matter' and definitely of fabulous wealth!

Foreign AffairsMan Sets Himself On Fire In The U.S by yunfazz(op): 8:46am On Oct 06, 2013
This is not a scene from movie neither is it from Borno or Iraq but the 'wealthiest nation on earth!'

The man reportedly (and as seen from the pictures) sat down on the lawn, then sprinkled gasoline all over his body, and quietly set himself on fire. He didn't flinch or move from where he was sitting as the fire consumed him (yes, real fire and not a magic!)

It happened at the National Mall Park where tourists from around the world usually come to with flames and smoke from the self-immolating man were visible from the Capitol, where some staffers watched the scene from west facing windows, just a day after a car chase that ended with the shooting death of a woman just outside the Hart Senate Office Building.

The incident reportedly happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday in between the Air and Space Museum and the National Gallery. Passing joggers rushed to the man's aid, several ripping off their shirts to help beat out the flames that burned 80% of his body

"I'm not aware of any signage or any articulation of any causes," said Lt. Pamela Smith of the U.S. Park Police, which has teamed up with the D.C. police department.
Tommy Hess, a tourist visiting his brother, said he was on the Mall, "milling around, because everything is closed due to the shutdown."
"I never expected to see anything like that," Hess said. "It's crazy."

Katy Scheflen, a furloughed civil rights attorney in the Justice Department, said she stopped because she saw "a guy with a tripod set up."

"At that point we didn't know what was going, maybe it was some sort of stage protest," Scheflen said. "And then he set himself on fire and went up in flames," she said. "Whoosh."

The self-immolation left the man with burns on 80% of his body. Witnesses said his body was charred and his arms and face were white.

"It's very shocking," she said. "It's horrifying. Literally watching this guy go up in flames. There was not really anything anybody could do."

Scheflen said the presence of a mounted camera gave her the impression "he was aware something was about to happen. Otherwise he was filming nothing but a guy standing there."

"It was obviously an intentional act," she said. "Somebody has a video of the whole thing."

Scheflen said the man may have said something beforehand “but it was nothing intelligible.”

FamilyVideo Of Girl Aged Seven Steals Iphone In Public Under Approving Eye Of Mother by yunfazz(op): 9:07am On Oct 02, 2013

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h60AgKKdsAE

Can it be described as poverty when a mother train her own child to be a petty thief? And the way and manner the girl stole the mobile phone as seen in the video, you would know that she was an 'expert'

The disturbing video surfaced on YouTube of a young girl stealing a mobile phone out of a
woman's handbag with the consent of a woman presumed to be her mother at a restaurant in Johannesburg, South Africa

In the video posted on YouTube a pair of white women are seen dining in the center of the restaurant and two women and the young girl walked in to the restaurant pretending to come in to dine when one of the thieves then speaks to the young 'expert' girl who then gets up from the table and walks around the back of the diner's chair who was oblivious of the young girl rummaging her bag (you know with children you rarely take notice of their moving around as they are usually doing so innocently)

It only took She takes a few seconds to rummage the bag before withdrawing a white phone

The trio quickly get up from the table and leave the restaurant as the diners continue their dinner unaware that they had just been the victims of theft.

The women featured in the video have not yet been identified.

PoliticsSHOCKING: Sickening Moment A Man Punches Woman Over Peanut (VISUALS) by yunfazz(op): 5:27pm On Sep 30, 2013

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3j4C_0o0DI

This is incredibly shocking especially in a society as US where laying hand women is usually met with jail term or civil punishment. Not only did man punch the female assistant, he just calmly strolled out of the shop as if nothing happened. Punching over only 41 cents!

The customer was trying to pay for a $1.41 cigar at a Lakewood, CA., Conoco gas station
earlier this month with just a $1 bill when he became enraged after being told he needed the other 41 cents, causing him to bash the 23-year-old clerk in her face.
Police still have yet to find the suspect and are asking for the public’s help identifying him.

Identified under the pseudonym ‘Yadira,’ the helpless young woman fought back tears as she told of the incident.

‘There’s cowards out there willing to do stupid stuff,’ the emotional girl told the station.

Explaining that he tried to short-change her by 41 cents while buying a Swisher Sweets cigar, Yadira told KCBS that he said ‘ this is all I have… b***h whatever.’
Yadira then asked the man to leave the store and he tried to snatch it from her.

‘It just happened so fast… I didn’t think he was going to hit me,’ Yadira said, adding [then] he just socks me.’
Security footage of the incident shows the suspect trying to grab the cigar from the young clerk before leaning forward, then winding up and smashing her in the face.

Perhaps shocked by what they had just seen, customers in line behind the violent man stood still as he angrily stormed out of the Conoco.

The punch threw her glasses off her face and injured her eye

Over 41 cents? Imagine if it was over $1000, imagine what else would have happened?’

PoliticsPhoto Of Nigerian Woman Found Dead In Her London Home; Son Charged For Murder! by yunfazz(op): 7:48pm On Sep 28, 2013
This is so sad as the 44-year old accountant and mother, Tolu Kalejaiye was found dead in her London home on Thursday. She was found lying on her back, in her kitchen, with a large laceration to the left side of her neck. Her 21-year old son, Oludotun Emmanual Kalejaiye, who lives with her has been charged with murder after being held in custody and questioned overnight by the police.

The neighbors however described her as a gentle, pleasant and hardworking woman.

What's baffling is whether the son is involved or not and if he indeed is confirmed to be involved, then what could be his motivation because only total insanity could make a man murder his mother in cold-blood

SportsTrue Story That Touch: Arm-less Body Builder Inspires World (photos) by yunfazz(op): 8:37am On Sep 19, 2013
Her name is Barbie Thomas and she lost both her arms at the age of 2 which happened when she was playing outside her Texas apartment complex and climbed onto a transformer, grabbling on to the wires. The electric current traveled through her little body, from her hands out her feet, burning her arms to the bone.

"They were like charcoal," she writes in her biography on her website, Fitness Unarmed
"They were completely dead and had to be amputated at the shoulders."

No one expected Thomas to live. But today, at 37, she has accomplished what was once regarded as the impossible: Thomas is a competitive body builder and model.
"I thank God I am alive," said Thomas, who now lives in Phoenix with her two sons, aged 13 and 17. She uses her shoulders as arms, which her children call her "nubs."

"I was not allowed to be negative and say I can't do something I was always taught to focus on what I can do, not what I can't do," she said. "It probably has a lot to do with my personality -- I can't imagine being a negative Nancy all the time."

The National Physique Committee (NPC), which is the amateur division of the International Federation of Body Builders, was so impressed with her performance in their fitness division last year, they gave Thomas their first-ever Inspiration Award.
"She chose the most difficult division of all," said Miles Nuessle, Arizona chairman of the NPC.

"We were thinking, 'How can she do that routine?' but she blew our minds," he said. "She was absolutely beautiful. She was on the floor jumping up and doing splits. I don't know what half the moves were called. She was rolling all over the place and shaking it -- sexy, athletic, fun and emotional. The crowd went nuts.

"You can't use the word handicapped with her or she may punch you in the face," he said. "Barbie is not handicapped."
After the childhood accident, doctors said Thomas might live like a vegetable for the rest of her life. But her mother prayed that if that were the case, "God would just take me," Thomas writes. "She also made a promise to God that day -- if he let me live, she would make sure that I became 'somebody.'"

She makes full use of her feet in both dance competitions and at home, using them to open doors, plug in her music and grab her bags. She uses her mouth to fasten the Velcro snaps on her dance shoes.

Thomas raised her first son with the help of a husband, though she is now divorced.

Thomas said fitness had been part of her life "forever." Growing up, she played soccer, danced and did aerobic running. When her first child was born she got into aerobic lifting with weights and later became an instructor.

"I'd go to the gym doing aerobic lifting with weights after the oldest son was born," she said. "I read about [fitness competition] in athletes' magazines and thought it was cool. Finally, I was encouraged by a friend and decided to go for it."
She began competing in 2003, and she faced some odd stares.

The sport is grueling, demanding weight training five days a week, and cardio work every day. Athletes like Thomas must pay attention to the nutrition in their diet and stay focused.
But Thomas thrives on the challenge, especially because it sends a strong message to others.

"I realize it inspires many people, and not just those with physical challenges," she said. "Follow your dreams and keep pushing and where there is a will, there is a way. We all have our own stuff to deal with and our own limitations and handicaps. Mine are just more visible. There's always someone else out there who has it worse."

What an incredible real-life story, am so touched!

Foreign AffairsRe: Entire River Covered With 220,000 Pounds Of Dead Fishes From Pollution (PHOTOS) by yunfazz(op): 6:46am On Sep 05, 2013
pathetic
Foreign AffairsEntire River Covered With 220,000 Pounds Of Dead Fishes From Pollution (PHOTOS) by yunfazz(op):
This is effect of serious environmental pollution as uthorities in China have scooped up around 220,000 pounds of dead fish today that they say were poisoned by ammonia from a chemical plant with dead fish covered the surface of the Fuhe River in central China and stretched for about several kilometers

Officials said sampling of its drain outlet showed that ammonia density far exceeded the national standard.
The company said it was not going to immediately comment.

More devastating pictures after the cut

The local environmental protection in China blamed local company Hubei Shuanghuan Science and Technology Stock Co for the disaster as it was reported that about 1,600 residents in nearby Huanghualao make a living from fishing where the village has 150 fishing boats and fishermen could lose up to 70,000 yuan ($11,400) per day and therefore warned the public not to eat the dead fish, but said drinking water was not affected.

It said it ordered the company to suspend operations and fix the pollution problem.

The official Xinhua News Agency in China said about 220,000 pounds of dead fish had been cleared from 25 miles of the river, but did not cite a figure for the number of fish.
The environmental department said that 'a great number of fish' had been recovered.

Inadequate controls on industry and lax enforcement of existing standards have worsened China's pollution problem, stemming from three decades of breakneck economic growth.

High-profile incidents this year involving dead animals in rivers - not only deaths attributed to pollution but also carcasses dumped by farmers after die-offs at farms - have added to public disgust and suspicions about the safety of drinking water.

I hope that by importing most of our products and goods from China, we wont be importing all these pollution along with them
