Peerielass: I think you should be eligible for a refund of the unused portion of your IHS on PSW. Apply and see what happens.
Regarding question 3, I would advise you go through an accountant. You would need one any way if you are going to be outside IR 35. For a small fee, most accountants/agents would allow clients to use their office as a holding address for companies house and HMRC correspondences. Alternatively you can use your home address as the registered address of your business. Thank you for your feedback. Please, if I want to go through accountant. Can you recommend any for me? Can you please check this https://www.1stformations.co.uk/ if they have the option there. I want to assume that the accountant's duty is to help calculate the tax and file it monthly or annually and also provide business address for me.? |

Hello everyone, Recently, I was endorsed by Tech Nation for the Global Talent Visa (GTV). I switched from PSW to GTV, but I still had 1 year+ on PSW before I switched. I have a few questions, help and clarification on certain things. 1) Am I entitled to the IHS refund on my previous visa? I have been seeing different posts that only people in care work visas are eligible. I do not know how true it is. 2) Are there any platform I can use for contract work (Outside IR35) ONLY? as I am no longer interested in a fulltime/permanent role. Please recommend apart from the normal one indeed, reed, etc. 3) I am trying to setup a business later this year (still in development mode), but can I register the company directly ( https://www.gov.uk/set-up-business) or use of agent such as ( https://www.1stformations.co.uk/) is better because I do not have physical/online address that I can use to register my business for now Thank you 🙂 |

Leebido: Hey guys I’ve been thinking lately . If we arrive Uk and open a Uk bank account How do we transfer our funds from our Nigerian bank account to d Uk bank account ? Considering we can no longer use form A You can create Payoneer Account and buy funds ($) from exchangers (cheaper than aboki rate). Payoneer will give you 4 different accounts (dollar, pounds, euro and yen). In your Payoneer, you can manage (convert) currency from a dollar to pounds, from pounds to euro, in fact, you can manage funds on all the 4 accounts Payoneer has given you. If you have a domiciliary account, you can add it and withdraw your money from Payoneer to your bank account. You can also add your UK account to your Payoneer and withdraw as long you have converted your funds in Payoneer. You can add up to 3 different bank accounts you want to use to withdraw. You can check their website for more. I have attached a few screenshots to show you what I am trying to explain. PS: Processing withdrawal fee is 2% of funds you are withdrawing i.e $2 for $100

Cyberknight: If you can get a sterling card, then convert your money to sterling, take the hit, get a sterling card, and move on.
Fact: the banks will make money off you because this is what they are set up to do once you move money through them. All you can do is limit how much they hit you for, not eliminate it entirely. OH, okay. Thanks |

biggiyke: Possible? Definitely. Wise? No. First of all, the USD/GBP exchange rate that will be used will be against you. Your USD will lose heavy against the GBP. Secondly, GTB would still charge you $3 (I think) for every ATM withdrawal. 2 options, go ahead with the above OR sell your USD while in Nigeria and then buy GBP. When you arrive here, you open a bank account and deposit.
Either way, you will definitely lose money exchanging USD for GBP. But you can choose your poison. Thank you So, is it possible to convert the $$ to GBP and put it in my £ dorm account and when I get to UK, I can transfer it to any bank I open? Because I don't want to go with plenty cash at hand. |

mattfeuter: Think twice before doing this. You’re better off bringing pounds here. Please, is it possible to withdraw cash from the atm over there using your Gtbank dollar Master card without any restriction? PS: I already have the dollar master card and I don't want to collect pounds master card because of the maintenance fee I'll be paying for the two. |

mimilyrics: You shouldn't work as a freelancer as it falls under self-employment which is prohibited for student visa holders. @mimilyrics,please I want to understand you very well. Are you saying someone can't continue working as a freelancer even if he has a client he's working for around the world (through LinkedIn, slack or other platforms) in Naija before he travels to UK that once he gets there, he needs to terminate those contracts. Or are you saying someone can't freelance for UK companies only as a student |

I have tried paying the IHS surcharge of 1680 dollars using paga verve and paga linking my GTB to my paga account but it takes me back to the UK site saying "Error, we are having technical problems" Is this a problem from the IHS site or is it the paga transaction? Please, 1) who has used Zenith bank to process the form A. How long does it take for the school to see the funds. 2) if a course is 16 months. Is it £470 x2 that I'm going to pay for IHS? 3) if your required funds are already met (over 28 days). Can you pay your school fees (deposit) from it as long as the remaining funds in your account are more than the required amount? |

TheGuyFromHR: Are you asking whether you should leave your money behind in naira in Nigeria while you travel to the UK without converting it to sterling? If so, the answer is no. Open a domiciliary account, convert to sterling and wire most or all of it as you prefer to TransferWise. Please, is $100 spending limit doesn't affect DORM ACCOUNT? Hi guys, I don't know whether this question has been asked before but I'll like to know if it's possible because what I saw online isn't clear to me.
Please, is it allowed to work as a freelancer/remote/online job platforms in UK. I'm currently working on two online platforms here in Nigeria but there are some platforms that reject Nigeria/find it difficult to get jobs because of being in Nigeria. So, I guess when someone reaches UK, it will be very easy to create account on those platforms and earn cool cash. For me, I'll prefer to work online because I can earn X3 or more than doing student jobs in UK. We Nigerians have been rejected on different occasions and it's all because of our location such as Amazon affiliate, stripe, upwork (currently you can't create an account if your location is Nigeria) etc. Please, if we're not allowed to work online, when will we be allowed? After study or during holiday? If we do, how would they know? Does that mean they track everything we do online.
PS: I'm not trying to bypass any system that's why I'm asking.
Below is also the screenshot of the problem we Nigerians are facing.
