Lolz. Mamacita, for real, Kpolli didn't tell me anything about coming to Houston. He knowingly avoided me.
How many days did you stay here? ... but I'm pretty disappointed you didn't tell me angry Would have met you if you had free time.

Kpolli: I finally got that Lenovo yoga laptop yesterday. I love it. The only con is that when it flips to a tablet, it feels wierd touching the keyboard. I may need a case to keep it scratch-free (picture deleted).

Wow! I've learned so much from this thread. I called my FI to come read all the comments and he said "Frugality is in. Nobody wants to be people-pleasers no more". Seems like most people regret quite a lot. Well, garnered here is that {venue, food, music and decor} are top priorities, and we can go cheap on all others. Our budget was a lil much. It's so hard to pull off a wedding in Nigeria with a definite list of the exact number of people I want. Started a budget re-calculating/eliminating process...

@ Baby4u2: Nicely written. Read your comment over & over. We need to be smart with this.
EventsRe: Please Sponsor Our Wedding... by Yvete(f):
I wish you success with your wedding plans. Give thanks and manage whatever y'all can afford. My Mum says, "as long as the couple is present, wedding must hold" and its true.

I heard tuale again!! Lolz. Why was he coughing at the beginning? I think it's radio worthy with "music is my way, it's my life". Overall, nice lyrics, but lost me at the second verse. lipsrsealed

nice4life: Another tornado in okhlahoma, I have a couple of friends there need to call them.Just tired of all this bad news everyday. about 53 people already dead.so sad.
The Dallas/Oklahoma area is vulnerable to tornadoes, and the likes. Hope your friends are safe. Thinking aloud - Isn't it strange how we almost never hear of natural diasaters in Africa? ... crazy things like wildfires, hurricanes, tornado, etc?
FamilyRe: Dilemma - Candid And Honest Advice Needed by Yvete(f):
@ Pslm23

Your cousin can actually back out of this messy situation. Baby mama, married or not, the other woman has a strong presence in that house and would only get stronger as her kids get older. Who knows if all these stories about the other woman are true?

My late gorgeous aunt got married to a family friend at 34. I remember when the man came to ask my aunt's hand in marriage, my mum furiously screamed 'over my dead body', but my aunt won't listen. There were so many spritual accusations here and there concerning the Ex-wife with 2 kids. The man was always in an accident, escaping death, falling sick, etc. Well, after multiple miscarriages, I lost my aunt during child birth in 2010. Where is the man now? hmnnn ... peace restored! This won't be your cuz portion anyways, just feel the need to share a smiliar story.

You've got homework!

How do you think most people on that thread would know a thing about foreign service? Take a short vacation to see how you like it. When they get there, they'll weigh their options. EDITED

rokiatu: Anything female in charge is a disaster..
Vehemently disagree!
Shocked that its coming from a woman shocked

However, female bosses often bring personal palava to the workplace. I've been on the receiving end of a female boss with marital issues. Its so clear that being a meanie stems from a bad marriage, but what would I do? Just avoid their space if you can. I overhead her say "there nothing pretty about her (me)" and I laughed to myself. HATERRRR!

FoodRe: Healthy, Low-calorie Substitutes For Common Nigerian Meals by Yvete(f):
I substitute Oatfufu for all kinds of "fufu". Blend 2-3 containers of raw oats in a dry blender and set aside. When I'm ready to eat, sometimes I mix a little 100% wheat semolina or dry pounded yam or nothing with the blended oats and stir. It's way healthier and less caloric than eating a bowl of "fufu". Pounded yam leaves me tired and sleepy! Haha.

Another substitute for red oil is tatashe. Palm Oils contain crazy calories. I learned from my Ex-boss's wife that she uses red bell pepper to make brown beans, okro and egusi without oil. I tried it and found it manageable too especially forthose on a strict diet.
FoodRe: Please How Can 'ofe Akwu' Be Prepared? What Are The Ingredients? by Yvete(f): 6:54am On May 14, 2013
Quick question!

How do I make ofe akwu/banga with this concentrated kernel in a jar? Lately, my appetite has been flying through the roof so my cravings are wild. (Can I do without ogiri, dawadawa & okpe? Because my sense of smell is crazy too).

I also need recipes for Ji mmiri oku (yam pepper soup). Thanks.
