You need to chill and think critically before hopping on a plane. If you know deep down in your heart that you're coming over here to 'hustle', be open about it and maybe you can get few heads up on what to do. You're not the first Nigerian to abscond anyways, no biggie!

It's obvious you're not coming to school here (well, for now) so stay back over there. Even if you're present in the US, schools will request proof of funding/sponsorship before releasing your I-20. Why are you in such a rush? Get skilled - barber, tailor, mechanic($$ ).. before coming over. Your girlfriend would have to wait at least 5+ years before she joins you.

ATCC is a good CC outside Houston. Its better to apply to a Community College than an unknown private university IMO. First, read successful interviews for CCs. (Read: I-Joan's interview in part 3. She had an excellent reason for choosing a CC).

Most 4-yr universities have articulation agreements/ Joint Admission programs with CCs in TX. Check if colleges like UH/UHD/TSU/Prairie View A&M has one with ATCC and apply. Take the letter to the Embassy.

If you have no family in Alvin, apply to other CCs in the US because public transportation is a mess around there unless you plan to get a car to get around. You'll find it easier in bigger cities like SA, DAL or HOU.

Aiight .... I don't want to encourage you to work illegally, but I don't know what you're going through over there.

The only advice has been stated above already - You need to visit any city with lots of Nigerian businesses that are willing to hire you (restaurants, African stores, beauty supplies, day care, etc). Be ready to be treated like crap for $6-7/hour and they owe like crazy! Trust me, you're going to find it real challenging because you're ineligible for any form of ID card. Burger King won't even hire you.

Would you like to stay back in Nigeria for a while and save some more since you're employed at the moment instead of coming over here to struggle this much? Esp. where you have no family?

I learned that dark underarms is as a result of aluminium in some deodorants. I tried an aluminium-free deodorant and it made me sweaty!

Nowhere did I mention that the lady cannot sit for TX board exams. What I suggested is totally different from what you suggested. Advise her and let other people say what they know as well. Her ONLY option for RN-BSN is to enroll at a CC for pre-reqs while she prepares/sit for NCLEX exams. Mind you, each state in the US has its own board exams. From the schools' requirement for admission (TSI ie freshman courses, SAT and TX licensure), she would spend at least a year at a CC before gaining admission to nursing school.

Nowhere did I write that she cannot sit for NCLEX....and if she has a BS, the RN-BSN route is not "faster".

How do you even get a "menial job" with a visitor visa. If you plan to reside in the US for a while, that's the worst visa to come in with. You cannot even get a State ID or Driver's license, so how do you expect a get a job?
