jtech17: So all those care jobs people are talking about isn't as much as we think there, but what about jobs at other cities, is it possible to commute to other cities where jobs are from hull? And I saw something about it being a large concentration for engineering jobs on their website... so even after graduation sef person no go fit get better work for the city?, I'm an engineer too thats y I dey ask... thanks
What about Middlesbrough, Teesside University @ zeecos I studied Chemical Engineering there. In my class, everybody who got jobs got them in other cities in England. 2 of my friends who insisted on staying back in Hull are still unemployed till date. Mind you, they are British and they both graduated with First Class. As for Middlesbrough, I don’t know anything about it. I’ve never been there. |

atyadz1: Right. How do I get the accommodation contract, please? From the agents/agency? Yes or from the landlord if you’re renting directly from him/her. After viewing, you’ll put in an application for the house and if all your documentation is in order, a contract will be drawn up between you (tenant) and the landlord. When I wanted to open a bank account, it was my tenancy agreement that I used as proof of address |

contra: You need utility bill to register for many things like bank account, council tax, applying for credit card etc which you won't have if you take a bill inclusive house. But if the bill inclusive ones are cheaper you may want to consider those and find another way to create your utility bill, like take a ohone contract etc.
On inspection, most restrictions are relaxed now and you can have physical inspection, otherwise online inspections are also available. You can use your accommodation contract as proof of address instead of a utility bill. When renting, I insisted that my partner and I be named on the contract so that we can both use it as proof of address. |

atyadz1: Hello guys, when getting an apartment, is it better to consider one with all bills inclusive in the package or go for one without such options. Also, how easy is it to do inspection with agents (giving the whole covid-issue) Please gurus your advice is needed. Thanks I personally would prefer a bills inclusive package because it simplifies cost for you. You just pay your rent and that’s it. And most times, it works out cheaper than renting a house and paying the bills yourself. As for the inspection process, it depends on the agents. Some will insist on a physical viewing while others are more accommodating. So just keep searching until you find a reasonable agent |

Ticha: It is not legally allowed. They can request a holding fee but that has to discounted off the first's month rent if they rent to you or refunded in full if they don't rent to you. No other upfront costs is allowed - although with the shortage of rentals, agents can do and undo if no one reports them.
From 1 June 2019, the only payments that landlords or letting agents can charge to tenants in relation to new contracts are:
rent a refundable tenancy deposit capped at no more than 5 weeks’ rent where the total annual rent is less than £50,000, or 6 weeks’ rent where the total annual rent is £50,000 or above a refundable holding deposit (to reserve a property) capped at no more than 1 week’s rent payments associated with early termination of the tenancy, when requested by the tenant payments capped at £50 (or reasonably incurred costs, if higher) for the variation, assignment or novation of a tenancy payments in respect of utilities, communication services, TV licence and Council Tax
https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/tenant-fees-act Thanks for the reply. I’ve seen the law and I forwarded the document to the agency that’s asking for the fee. Hopefully, they’ll have a rethink. |

Ticha: No. It only covers when a tenant stops paying and there are quite stringent conditions to be able to make a claim. Tenant has to pass referencing and credit checks by specific organisations Tenant must also earn 4 times rent or have a guarantor (certain consolations around that as well)
I usually time tenant changeovers to have just 1 week max in between. It means I or the agent actively starts working with the tenant in the last month to remedy any damages. Luckily we have had very little in the way of actual damages in the 9 years or so we've been having tenants. Hello Ticha. I’ve been house hunting for the past month. Some of the agencies I’ve been in touch with are asking for an application fee. Is this allowed or legal? Thank you |

ayosco2008: Hello House.
Please for those that got admission into University of Hull for September? Did u have to request your school to send your official transcript to University of Hull? or you used your student copy of transcript all through the process?? When I applied in 2018, they accepted my student copy. My school didn’t need to send it to them. When I arrived in Hull, I went to the administrative office and they photocopied the transcript for their records |

Marshall008: What do you mean ?
Is there course content poor or what, can I’ve an idea Student support was poor but the main challenge I had was when I had to do my dissertation. Chemical Engineering just had two labs in the chemistry building. Had to beg chemistry to use their apparatus. Another issue was lack of lab partner, which delayed my experiment for a month. At the end of the day, it didn’t even work because modifications and cut corners to the original method were too much |

Please share more information I can’t say. I was told they are good in law and related courses. The medicine and nursing courses are good too. |

Marshall008: Both of the same are the same course. Advanced Chemical Engineering
I’m looking at teeside because of the number of months, I believe it will give more time to settle and have more time before they could ask for tuition balance. My thought tho, I don’t know if it works like that. Better run from Hull. I did Chemical Engineering there and the course was rubbish. |
