we have Christians in this country sad.

This is for your information Mr man and your alike that says APC is a muslim party and that are citing and passing around a long list of newly-appointed muslim interim officers as evidence of this are either being mischevous or are just plain ignorant. The APC has 37 interim national officers on its interim National Executive Comittee. 18 of those officers are muslims and 17 are christian.

Those that are publishing and spreading the all muslim list in the media and the social websites and networks should be advised to go and publish the full list of ALL the national officers of the APC and not just the list of muslim ones.

Good Bless Nigeria & APC.... United we stand.

I assumed you know that words of John Iliffe are not gospel. Both in South Africa and Biafra, people struggled for freedom and homeland. It does not surprise me that John Iliffe is a British historian. Only deluded fool willbelieve in any letter from the idiotic conjecture known as “NO VICTOR, NO VANQUISHED”.

Sir, I will give you a case study of northen Sudan and southern Sudan and how they break up as Single country comparing that of Biafra.

Since its independence in 1956, Sudan was a country of diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. The cultural, ethnic and political diversity of the country was not managed for the benefit of all and the failure to do so led to outbreaks of civil wars twice. There is no doubt that cultural and ethnic diversities, which existed in Sudan, are also found in many African countries which never experienced civil wars or breakups. Everywhere in Africa, one can find Muslims, Christians and Animists living side by side without having to break up the country. Although the case of Biafra in Nigeria could be brought up as an example of secessionism, it could be argued that Biafra war was fueled more by political grievances than ethnic and cultural differences. If ethnicity and religion were the reasons, the non-Muslim groups like Yoruba, Ijaw and many others could have joined the war against the Nigerian state that was dominated by the Muslims at the time of independence.

The case of Sudan is totally different from that of Nigeria and the root causes of the breakup of Sudan in 2011 could be attributed to mismanagement of diversity and the attempt of the Sudanese state to impose Arabism and Islamism at the expense of African indigenous cultures. Ethnic and cultural diversities are not the real causes of separatism. If countries could experience civil wars and secessionism because of diversity, many countries in Africa would experience separation. However, the mismanagement of diversity by the state is what determines the fate of a diverse country. The failure to manage diversity is what led to breakup of the Africa’s largest country.

Thank you.

I do not if the John Iliffe is an African or Nigerian however if he is either African or Nigerian, it is unfortunate that Cambridge University education did dent his inferior mentality. In the first paragraph of this unfortunate thread, the author raised two distinctive issues as he praised Obasanjo an opponent of Apartheid and opponent of Biafra who helped secured victory for Nigeria in the civil war.

It is very ironic the so-called Cambridge University scholar did not notice the parallel between the struggles against Apartheid and for homeland by Biafrans. The only difference in both struggles is the absence of Europeans. I have already noticed that it takes Europeans in any cadre for an African to validate his/her humanity. It really sucks.

Sir, Prof John Iliffe (born 1 May 1939) is a British historian, specialising in the History of Africa. Iliffe is professor at St John's College, Cambridge. He was awarded the 1988 Herskovits Prize for The African Poor. He is one of the best african historian in the world.

OBJ fought for the unity of and succession of this country not contrary Sir, which is a credit for all soldiers that fought for the same thing during the civil war.

Power, communication, banking and agriculture. The problem is implementation which I will fault his leadership qualities for.

On your 2nd question you and I know that a lot of things being done in this regime like his wife snatching mic from a governor and engaging a Governor in power tussle, ministers making frivolous expenses and damning whatever consequences, individuals faking importation of petroleum products and collecting non-existent subsidy Etc. would have been suicide under Obasanjo. The fear of his reactions would have been there.

Please Sir, look at how corruption is skyrocketing in his administartion and him been silence and hiding those looters on his shed is a clear indication that he is not ready to fight it which is the greatest fact that is making our country backward in all aspects of the economy.

But a great leader suppose to stands on his feet and push away any person/or a group of people that are doing things contrary to his mission and vission but GEJ is silence on this.

GEJ did not destroy Obasanjo's legacy but rather continued with it at a slower pace. GEJ is trying his best but he was not created to be a leader and people take him for a ride. Most people around him do what pleases them and not what pleases GEJ including his own wife.

My Bro will you tell me some of the OBJ policies that GEJ continued with? please lets talk with high sense of reasoning. Do you really mean that GEJ cabinet take him for ride? can you expantiate what you excatly mean by that?

For me a leader must be competence which goes beyond words, it is the leaders ability to say it, plan it, and do it in such a way that others know that you know how and also a leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others.

Cambridge University scholar of African history, John Iliffe, has this to say about Obj: ” Obasanjo having been an active opponent of apartheid and an architect of the African Union. THE MOST IMPORTANT AFRICAN LEADER OF THIS GENERATION , Obasanjo has had an extraordinarily diverse career as soldier, politician, statesman, farmer, author, political prisoner, Baptist preacher, and family patriarch. As a soldier, he secured the victory in Nigeria’s civil war” . In a nutshell , even in his life time his history is being written favorably

He has been at fore front of African affairs.
His leadership has been felt much more than in Africa continent . Obj was the leader of G77, comprising most developing countries of the world . When he was president of G77 he started the campaign for global debt relief arguing that the so call debt was another form of enslavement . Later the western world agreed to debt relief , but only to poorest countries in the world, excluding Nigeria but Obj fought on for Nigeria.

Now back to Nigeria . I know those of you who don’t like the man for whatever reason , I know some just hate him because he does not belong to their political or ethnic side but that is the reality of human beings .

Here is a man who met external reserve of Nigeria at $2 billion and within 8 years left it at $68 billion .Even though the price of oil , in real terms , was the lowest in the history of petroleum when he came in . A barrel of oil was sold $9 per barrel .

He met external debt at $ 35 billion and left it at none .
He met 200 thousand functioning fones left it at over 70 million.
He met Stock Market Capitalisation @ 400bn left it 13 trillion naira...As at when he left office Nigeria stock market was best performing in d world.
We know the Story today..6yrs after all his legacies were destroyed.

May God help Nigeria.

Politics / Asari Dokubo Arrested In Benin Rebublic by zeennurei(m): 9:26pm On Nov 26, 2013
The leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was today arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
A statement by his lawyer, Festus Keyamo, said Dokubo was picked up by the police between 1:00pm and 2:00pm around the Lubeleyi roundabout, and taken to an unknown destination.
The wealthy former militant reportedly opened a private university in the Benin Republic, the King Amachree African University that is preparing to start degree-awarding programmes in 2014.
“We want to emphasise that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now,” Keyamo said in his statement.  “In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched as at this evening and nothing incriminating was found.”
He suggested that Dokubo’s arrest and detention may be a ploy by “certain forces in Nigeria in unholy alliance with the Beninoise government” to keep his client away as 2015 approaches.
“We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria,” he said.
Dokubo has in recent times vowed that unless Mr. President Jonathan retains the presidency in 2015, Nigeria would break up.
