11 practical tips for Muslim youths on how to handle pornography

The pornography industry- a multimillion dollar investment- is one of Shaytan’s greatest weapons today. It’s also one of the greatest challenges that Muslims, (particularly Muslim youths) face because of its negative effects manifested physically, mentally and spiritually. Undoubtedly, it is rather a difficult task for one to avoid pornography while it is found everywhere. However, Islam provides guidelines and solutions for every test; depending on how sincerely we wish to change our bad ways. Here are some ideas;

1.Admit that it is a sin

It is very important that you understand what is halal (permissible) and what is haram (sinful). There is absolutely no doubt that pornography is haram. Knowing that, and admitting that, is a start.

2.Repent and Quit today

When you know that what you are doing is sinful, then you must waste no time but to repent. Remember that Allah is watching you, and you are not guaranteed tomorrow. That is why repentance must never be procrastinated.

“Indeed Allah loves those who repent and purify themselves.” [Quran 2:222]

3.Engage in Voluntary fasting

Fasting was prescribed by the Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) as a means to decrease sexual urges. The hadith narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:

“O young men, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding one’s chastity. And whoever cannot afford it should fast, for it will be a shield for him.”

4.Engage in more voluntary prayers

Salat (prayers) is the strongest bond a Muslim can have to Allah. It is a direct communication between the Creator and us. Salat helps to purify a person, and make them more focused. Allah says in the Quran:

“……indeed prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and remembrance of Allah is greater……” Surah 29:45.

5.Keep yourself busy with productive activities

Watching pornography is a total waste of time. Use your time more wisely. Keep yourself busy with other halal activities such as

sports, physical exercise, reading (both Islamic and non-Islamic books);
school activities that do not involve immorality like debate club;
join an Islamic association and be very active; go to the masjid (mosque) more often and meet more Muslims.;
You should also keep yourself busy around the house by helping your parents with chores, running errands, visiting your relatives, helping your siblings with homework, taking them to school or playing with them;
Join a Quran recitation class and learn the Quran. If you can’t join a class, get a sheikh who will be teaching you the Quran at least twice every week.
6.Beware who your friends are

It is a common saying that “Show me your friend and I’ll tell you who you are”. The Prophet (pbuh) also advised us to keep good friends because “a man follows the religion of his friend”. When a person is trying to be a better Muslim, the advisable thing is to change your group if they are not going to be a positive force. Although it is sometimes difficult to change our friends, you can start with little steps. For instance, get up and leave whenever your friends start talking about immodest thins or watching immorality. Just leave. You can also try talking to them about the effects and perhaps you can make them change too. Don’t try to impress your friends by sinning against Allah. Remember that one day all of you will die and you will be in separate graves.

7.Tie your sins to a voluntary act of worship

The idea behind this is to do more good deeds every time you commit a sin. For instance, depending on the gravity of your sin, do an equally big good deed like giving charity. Of course, this has to be in addition to the obligatory pillars. That means you cannot decide to wake up for Fajr salat because you watched a bad video last night. Waking up for Fajr prayers is compulsory so that does not count. Make a self-promise that the next time you watch a pornographic video, you will give out 50-dollar charity. Keeping in mind that you could become broke can help you stay away from the bad habit.

“Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder for the mindful (those who accept advice).” [Quran 11:114]

8.Know your triggers

Most addictive things we engage in have a trigger factor- the thing that makes you want to do that bad thing again and again. For some, just watching a movie with a kissing scene makes them want to watch a pornographic video. Know your trigger. That way, you can avoid it and decrease the chances of committing this sin.

9.Learn to lower your gaze

Allah has commanded us- both men and women to lower our gaze and guard our modesty. The beginning of evil deeds is looking. If you truly want to fight the urge to watch pornography, learn to lower your eyes. It takes practice but trust me the moment you get used to it, it would become instinctive. Start today. Whenever girls or ladies pass, don’t stare. Whenever you see an immoral billboard, lower your eyes and keep walking. Whenever something haram comes up on the TV screen, change it immediately. “Fake it till you make it”.

10.Replace music audios with Islamic audios

Music is haram, that’s a fact. It also encourages immorality and arouses sexual urges. It is therefore important in the fight against immorality to throw away your music videos and audios and surround yourself with Quranic recitations, islamic lectures by prominent scholars and Islamic videos. There are so many of these online and they are life changers. All you have to do is go online and type something like ‘Anwar’s lectures about death’, or ‘Islamic videos about heaven’. Choose whatever topic you are interested in and you will see the difference in sha Allah. The trick is, instead of the usual music tracks you listen to on your way to school, you now listen to audios about Allah.

11.Never give up hope

No matter how many times you have sinned, and no matter how great the sin, always remember that Allah’s mercy is greater. Do not ever give up hope. Repent again and again- as many times as you sin, repent. Allah says in Surah 39 verse 53:

“Say: O My slaves who have transgressed against themselves (because of sins), do not despair from the mercy of Allah. Verily, Allah forgives all sins. Verily, He is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

InshaAllah by following these 11 guides may Allah make it easy for you to leave the habibit completely... Thanks for reading may Allah protect you all and keep you intact.

How can a commercial carrier be mistook for a military jet how??
Except you need aviation 101 to be explained to you,
There's just no way a military jet can be mistook for a commercial carrier or vice versa...
Iran just goofed big time and funny enough they are denying it still.
Let's just assume the plane crashed normally because shooting a public carrier down gives a different picture entirely.
my thoughts exactly why would iran shoot down an airplane when it knows that most of the passengers are Iranians? Why target thier own citizens and other countries citizens just to spite the US when they know that Americans were not on the plane? Just imagine the kinda hate that goes on in Nigeria online thank God that it only occur online and not offline if not this country would have been gone

what are u saying? So because it's not thier home soil they have to sit back and watch thier facilities being destroyed? So if I as a Nigerian decides to build a house in Ghana so any country can just destroy it bcus I didn't build it on my own soil but on foreign soil?

Truth is, Islam uses Taqqiya to play the victim in any given space only to turn around and spring a surprise on the unsuspecting taking over and clamping Sharia on the society in the process. Truth is, Islam takes no prisoners. Islam is an either or proposition. It does not know freedom to worship what you please. The Saudi Arabian society where no other belief system is tolerated is the template of Islam for every society and that is the goal of Islam- to Islamise the world! That cannot be on the table! We must live and let live! That indeed is religious tolerance!

As far as I am concerned I have chosen to believe in Jesus and Jehovah...if I die and find out that they are scam I will have nothing to lose and nothing to gain but if on the contrary, I will have nothing to lose but everything to gain.

Happy New year

Nice question,...before Jesus came, humans were judged simply based on their believe in GOD ALMIGHTY...(Jehovah)... but after Jesus came to die it shifted to our believe in the sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross.

Bro or sis lemme shock you...do you know why you came to this thread and why you are asking these questions..? It is because your soul yearns for salvation and that is a typical sign of every potential follower of Christ.

You can liberate yourself this minute by accepting Jesus as your Lord and saviour and after you do that, you will experience a kind of peace that surpasses all human understanding.

Just say these simple words out where ever you are..

"LORD JESUS , I BELIEVE I AM A DINNER AND THAT YOU CAME TO DIE FOR ME THAT I CAN BE SAVED. I ACCEPT YOU THIS MOMENT AS MY LORD AND SQVIOUR...THANK YOU JESUS FOR SAVING ME."

As simple and as strangely as it may sound, this proclamation is all YOU need TO BE SAVED forever.

so what u are saying is that God shifted the responsibility from himself to Jesus right ? And you are sounding like a pastor behind my house who always tells his congregation that last year 2019 was thier year of success I wonder what he is going to tell them this year now
Education / Re: Adeleke University Suspends Muslim Student For Not Attending School Chapel by zeeprince(m): 11:18pm On Jan 06

A Description in Islam, Taqiya or Taqiyya is a precautionary dissimulation or denial of religious belief and practice in the face of persecution. A related term is, Kitmān, which has a more specific meaning of dissimulation by silence or omission. Wikipedia

In simple terms it is perfectly legitimate in Islam for a Muslim to lie, be deceitful or deny being a Muslim to gain an advantage for.e.g. Sign a University Handbook to abide by the Rules and Regulations of the Institution so as to gain admission only to turn around and scream blue murder to say one is being persecuted for being a Muslim! That exactly is what the guy has done. Ladies who marry Muslims on the promise of the Bridegroom to not force his Bride to be a Muslimat and to allow her worship she will are on their own since Islam permits the Bridegroom to later go back on his word on the ground that it was taqqiya! All are forewarned that when a Muslim appears to be tolerant of your freedom to worship what you will and still be your friend he plays taqqiya with you - he is deceiving you till he has an opportunity to show his true colour! That explains the story of many who have survived Islamic terrorist attacks when they say that close and friends and neighbours 99% of the time will be the ones to lead the attackers to them and participate in the slaughter of the simple! Beware! Check this thread and you’ll find a Muslim who accused me of persecuting him just because I pointed out the obvious that is, the taqqiya strategy of the said university student! That again is classic taqqiya! Beware! You do not hate a Muslim for that- only ensure you are circumspect in your relationship with a Muslim simply because Islam permits him to deceive you so long as it is for a perceive gain for Islam!
ur definition which you got from Wikipedia says in the face of persecution but u tried changing the meaning to suit ur whims which is ok by me , I can work with that now let's see whether Christianity is free from taqiyya as y you define it.

Christians will gladly point out these to anyone who cares to listen :

“Muslims do taqiyyah. Never believe them!”. Do Christians never lie? “No, real Christians will not lie!” answers the deluded cultic Christian. The more edified ones will concede saying, “yes, Christians do lie as well, but the difference between Islam and Christianity is that the Bible does not teach or promote lying in any way while the Qur’an and Sunnah do.” Really? Even a “white lie” is sinful according to the Bible? “Yes, even a white lie is wrong. No such thing as a white lie!” says the confident Christian.

It is sufficient to mention here that most Muslims have never heard of the term in their entire life even I only heard of it last year December precisely in nairaland here before I researched it so don't go around boasting that all Muslim to taqiyya using ur own meaning.

Well is the Bible free from taqiyya as u define it? Well let's check it out.

subjects are Shiphrah and Puah, the midwives of Exodus 1. Who were these fine women exactly? Let us turn to Exodus 1:15-22.

The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah,“When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth on the delivery stool, if you see that the baby is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.”The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?”

The midwives answered Pharaoh, “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive.”

So God was kind to the midwives and the people increased and became even more numerous. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.

Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.” (Exodus 1:15-22)

In summary, Pharoah instructed Shiphrah and Puah to murder newborn Hebrew male babies. They did not follow through with the order as they feared God. They let the boys live. The Phraoah found out that they did not complete their task and summoned them to answer for their failure. They feigned innocence and ignorance by deceiving the king that they could not reach the women on time when they gave birth. Their lives were clearly spared by their deception and God rewarded them for their deed without reproaching their lie in any way. Is this not a clear example of dissimulation?

It is clear then that Exodus 1:15-20 portray two women who saved children through deception. But does that mean that lying is permitted simply because those two women did it? Why would God favour those who commit a heinous sin if indeed lying is in every case without exception a heinous sin? In Exodus 1:15-20 it is clear that not every kind of deception is dishonourable and condemned by God. There can be exceptions especially when life is at stake.

Conservative Jewish scholar and rabbi Reuven Hammer writes:

“Shiphrah and Puah, the Hebrew midwives who resist Pharaoh’s command to kill male babies, are the very symbol of righteous conduct (Exod. 1:17). They are given the highest compliment when the Torah says that “they revered God.

Even the conservative apologist Norman Geisler acknowledges the deed of the midwives as a lie:

“Some would prefer calling this not a “lie” but an “intentional falsification.” Call it what we will, it does not change the fact that it would be morally wrong —unless, of course, one is obeying a higher moral law in so doing. I prefer calling it a “lie” so that it is clearly understood that lying as such (without a higher conflicting law) is wrong.

What Geisler is saying is that in a case where there is a higher moral law at stake the law on lying is superseded hence making it permissible. In the case at hand the sanctity of life and mercy supersede the general unlawfulness of lying. It is through the deception or manipulation of the midwives that God’s plan came to fulfillment as noted by The IVP Women’s Bible Commentary:

“Masters and mistresses of the art of manipulation abound in the biblical story. In some instances manipulation is condemned within the narrative —David’s attempt to manipulate Uriah after impregnating his wife or Jezebel’s orchestration of Naboth’s murder—but some manipulative measures enable the fulfillment of the promises to Abraham. This is true particularly of manipulative actions by women.

In almost all of these stories the character and role of the women as women enables their manipulation to succeed and God’s purposes to be fulfilled…Shiphrah and Puah are by virtue of their midwifery able to save Israelite baby boys…

Did God approve of their manipulation, dissimulation, lying, deception? According to the Christian and Jewish biblical scholars He certainly did. Elizabeth Cady Stanton in her The Woman’s Bible writes:

“The children of Israel multiplied so rapidly that Pharaoh became alarmed, lest the nation should become mightier than the Egyptians, so he ordered all the males at birth to be slain. To this end he had a private interview with the midwives, two women, Shiphrah and Puah, and laid his commands upon them. But they did not obey his orders, and excused themselves on the ground that the Jewish women seldom needed their services. Here we have another example of women who “feared God,” and yet used deception to accomplish what they deemed right.

The Hebrew God seemed well pleased with the deception, and gave them each a house for their fidelity in saving the lives of his chosen children.

Christian theologian and apologist Paul Copan writes:

“The Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah in Egypt (Exod. 1:15-21) engaged in deception. Because they “feared God,” they resisted Pharaoh, who wanted to put innocent Hebrew male babies to death. These women “did not do as the king of Egypt had commanded them, but let the boys live” (v. 17). When confronted by Pharaoh, they used deception: “Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the widwife can get to them.” The divine response? “God was good to the midwives”; and “because the midwives feared God, He established households for them” (vv. 20,21). Note the close connection between fearing God, resisting Pharaoh (including using deception), and receiving God’s approval” [11] (emphasis added)

Paul Copan agrees with the other Christian commentators and scholars that the reason why God blessed the two women is because they saved the Hebrew children through deception.

Commenting on the verses The Applied Old Testament Commentary states:

“Lying is almost always wrong in God’s sight, but there are rare exceptions. The Egyptian midwives deceived Pharaoh, but God honored them for it (Exodus 1:19-21)…” (emphasis added)

You see bro u should research first before posting you were shouting taqiyya and you went to Wikipedia do bring out a definition and was even using an example which is not related to the topic at hand without doing research on it on ur Bible

Pure nonsense.

How can you bribe millions with free lunch? If free food is provided in a funeral, Iran does that during the annual Ashura mourning commemoration for ten days. They provide free food for people narking Ashura. It is a cultural practice to provide food during mourning ceremonies.

Free grades? Lol

Free bus rides? Why not? Its a national mourning and a state funeral. If I hate someone, free ride won't make me mourn for him or participate in a procession.

Millions went to the streets. I doubt there is that much poverty that people would participate for lunch. I was expecting to see $1,000 for each person. And that itself Iran can't provide because its sanction hit economy won't be able to spend that much.

Understand that writings of the Judaeo-christian world were recorded as Testaments(We have the Old Testament and the New Testament). These testaments talks about how God established a series of covenants between Himself and Man, transgenerationally; beginning from the Fall of Adam spanning through to the time of Christ and after. Between the book of Genesis down to Revelation, these came to be identified (by theologians) as the 7 dispensations of God's Covenant(I don't want to burden you with lengthy details on this part, but if you want me to explain further I can indulge you).

But my point is,God communed with the Patriarchs of the Bible (Adam,Abraham,Isaac etc) based on a particular dispensation they were in. Thus, standards of righteousness or morality were valid based on adherence to the laid-down requirements of a said covenant.
believe me I read, read, and read your comments but I couldn't make sense of it, just answer my question.. who was the way truth and life during Abraham, Isaac, jocob, Solomon, David and others...and if salvation comes from believing that Jesus is God then where the the followers of those prophet end up?

Jesus brought salvation, not religion. Christianity as an institutionalized body was created by man. All you need do is accept Jesus as your messiah and you are good. When we get to heaven GOD won't ask anyone if you are a Christian or Muslim but the only qualification is when you have accepted Jesus as your savior.

bro you just nailed the final nail on the coffin. Since Jesus as u said lost his powers because he supposedly came in the form of human... Is changing of water to wine natural? Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven,
strengthening Him.

King James Bible
And there appeared an angel unto him from
heaven, strengthening him.

Who is lying is it Luke or Jesus since angels don't visit humans like you say

And as much as I would like to keep quiet about the verse it looks like a God needing the assistance of his own creation I mean an angel coming to strengthen a Jesus who was supposed to be God or did he lose is powers then?

If the quran believes it then who are u not to believe. Listen to ur Quran and not ur imams. The name Isa (JESUS CHRIST) was mention in the quran more than prophet Mohammed. That should tell u something.
yeah it should tell me that the qur'an does not belong to prophet Muhammed but Allah owns it and he speaks about who ever he wishes.

How do you know the devil didn't add his own to the Quran?

Who was there with the prophet (saww) in the cave when he received the revelation

How can you call Quran a worthy guide to God when you have no idea where the revelation came from?
that's where u are wrong bro because unlike the Bible the qur'an speaks for itself but u can't even find the word Bible in the Bible. .. and y you were saying something about me not knowing where the revelation came from? Is that a joke or what? U want to compare a sample to a masterpiece?

bro pls when ever you want to lie against Islam you should at least get your fact straight..

Taqiyyah, in Islam, is the practice of concealing one’s belief and foregoing ordinary religious duties when under threat of death or injury. Derived from the Arabic word waqa (“to shield oneself”), taqiyyah defies easy translation. English renderings such as “precautionary dissimulation” or “prudent fear” partly convey the term’s meaning of self-protection in the face of danger to oneself or, by extension and depending upon the circumstances, to one’s fellow Muslims. Thus, taqiyyah may be used for either the protection of an individual or the protection of a community.

taqīyah
Taqiyyah, in Islam, the practice of concealing one’s belief and foregoing ordinary religious duties when under threat of death or injury. Thus, taqiyyah may be used for either the protection of an individual or the protection of a community... That is the meaning of taqiyya except you want to believe otherwise which am not ready to convince you..but since u brought up this matter let's check whether the Bible is truly immune from promoting dissimulation or deception. Our first subjects are Shiphrah and Puah, the midwives of Exodus 1.

Is this not a clear example of dissimulation and lies?

Where are they now?..bcus I certainly can't find then in any Christian book shop here in Nigeria or are u hiding it?
ezo4fta:
God Sent Other Scriptures Prior to the Qur’an
In numerous places the Qur’an testifies that God gave the Jews and the Christians revelations in the past: “He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind” (3:3-4); “Say, ‘We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you’” (29:46; cf. 6:89; 2:136; 5:46-47; 7:157).

These Revelations Existed During Muhammad’s Time
In other passages the Qur’an is clear that these Scriptures existed during Muhammad’s lifetime: “Say ‘O People of the Book! Ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord’” (5:68; cf. 4:136; 10:94 3:93; 5:46, 59, 68-69).

It would be impossible for Christians and Jews (the People of the Book) to “stand fast” by these revelations unless they were still in their possession at that time. Many ancient copies exist of both the Torah and the Gospel that are dated centuries before Muhammad. These are entirely consistent with the books known in the Bible as the Old and New Testament.

Luke 3:23–38 (KJV 1900)

: 23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, 24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph, 25 Which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Amos, which was the son of Naum, which was the son of Esli, which was the son of Nagge, 26 Which was the son of Maath, which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Semei, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Juda, 27 Which was the son of Joanna, which was the son of Rhesa, which was the son of Zorobabel, which was the son of Salathiel, which was the son of Neri, 28 Which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Addi, which was the son of Cosam, which was the son of Elmodam, which was the son of Er, 29 Which was the son of Jose, which was the son of Eliezer, which was the son of Jorim, which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, 30 Which was the son of Simeon, which was the son of Juda, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Jonan, which was the son of Eliakim, 31 Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David, 32 Which was the son of Jesse, which was the son of Obed, which was the son of Booz, which was the son of Salmon, which was the son of Naasson, 33 Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda, 34 Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor, 35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala, 36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech, 37 Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan, 38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

In these two lists consisting of sixty-six names, there is only one name which is common to both and that is of Joseph the carpenter, and he should never have been mentioned since he was never responsible for the conception of Jesus (pbuh).

That's is what we call contradiction

Olamilekxy:

okay

but yet u can compare it to Christmas that some Christian group condemn it, cos the Sunni and Shia do celebrate but different time and the interval of the day always be between one or two days, and for Mawlid if any Muslim group celebrate it is not a sin and if some group didn't celebrate it also they didn't commit a sin. though some people condemn it cos prophet didn't celebrate it during his life time .
why waste ur time explaining to him it's not like the maulud is a central figure in Islam so why compare it to Christmas
