hayjayfeez: ... Thanks Zeezahbee, I appreciate ur advice but a friend said I should show up to my schl 1st then get admission from another schl( CC ) n transfer there. He said its easy to get admission in CC.
you must have been admitted to the CC before you leave nigeria or probably you do a semester at the uni and transfer the next semester to CC
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by zeezahbee(f): 1:11pm On Jul 20, 2014
elektra: @hayjayfeez, please note that if you intend to defer your admission like Zeezahbee advised and you do not show up for the fall semester, your school may terminate your SEVIS and render your visa INVALID. You should contact the school's international office and ask the necessary questions.
if he defer his admission, his school will send him an updated i2o for spring and thats all, his visa is gonna still be valid. he can only run out of status if he gets to the usa and fails to enroll.

domex007: Bro, thanks for your input but I don't mean I am gonna arrive in the US 30days before resumption lemmi give a better example.
Just assuming I Applied to TSU for fall and they resume 25th aug and got my visa for TSU 2 week of July, got to the US first week of aug(which is normal) stay @ a friend's place.
Defer my admission with TSU just to buy time to apply to another school (HCC).
When TSU issue my new i-20 for spring 2015 without the knowledge that I am already in the US I can send my friend to go pick the i-20 for me and also help me in picking up the i-20 for HCC too.
Can I now go to TSU to request for transfer to HCC??
I hope you understand my question now?
you will run outta status. sorry
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by zeezahbee(f): 11:15pm On Jul 19, 2014
domex007: How about doing it this way?
Get admission from one particular school, get visa with the school, defer your admission with that school and enter the US with your valid visa, apply to another school and once they accept the student you can request for transfer from the initial school..
Is this method even possible and hope its legal and also safe?
dont you understand, you ,must have both i2o before you leave nigeria.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by zeezahbee(f): 9:25pm On Jul 19, 2014
Theflint1: but u had an i20 already from this school u transferred to right? or did I just walk up to 'em and say "I wanna transfer here"?
you must have i20 of both schools before you leave naija or the school must have accepted you already, you cant just walk in. the process is called transfer in/transfer out. its legal. all they do is transfer your record shikena

Theflint1: her post kinda cleared a lotta doubts on d issue, as I think there was even an earlier argument on this thread as to if transfer was possible without having any credits.
its possible, thats why i advice people to take like 3days and read the whole thread. am not the first to do instant transfer, like 4 people i know on this thread did it and they are doing fine.

Theflint1: u transferred? without credits? how did u go about it?
hehehehehhe, explanation for another day. but realy you can transfer without taking classes yet. all you need to do is before you leave nigeria, you must have been admitted to the school you wanna go and dont inform both schools about your plans and when you land, go to the school of your choice and the school on your visa will transfer your sevis record and thats all. its legal. All they want is you must resume in a school, thats all, if you dont, you run outta status. am in my new school now and have enrolled

domex007: Am not bothered about housing, cos I booked for 1room apartment in the school's campus..
If I have to take additional funds for living expenses should in case the school will not provide foods for me, how much will be enough for 1 semester?
Thanks for you input.
that depends on your stomach and your pocket. food is kinda cheap, if you can cook but i doubt since you are gonna stay off campus. if you eat outside, you can spend like $600 in a month.

bigfrancis21: The visa interview is an official interview where one's appearance can play part in the visa officer's decision process. It properly follows that as a man with beard, you would want to keep the beard well-shaven or shave it completely. In corporate america(government or white-collar jobs), men are not even permitted to have beard at all. Even when going for job interviews and career fairs, you're required to shave your beard too make the most impression on your prospective employer. Na here em pain me pass. Losing my dear way beard. embarassed
the guy at the enrollment center in my school gat beard and have seen several people with beard in america with beards. america need your brain not your beards. even at the mosque yesteday, saw plenty people with beards and they all gat job. once you can kept it clean and frosh and you know what doing, you will be fine

domex007: Hello friends,
I need information and advice about this;
In my i-20 it states that my tuition is $20,950 including housing, tuition and fees, living expenses, miscellenous fees included.
Now the school requests that I bring $8k upon enrollment the remaining balance to be remitted to the 2nd semester, also in my admission letter, they said I should bring additional funds for living expenses as my living expenses is not included in the $8k.
Now my questions are;
Will the school provide meals for me after the deposit of $8k?
What exactly is the $8k for since the school won't feed me?
Do I choose campus housing or off campus?
do you wanna stay on campus? if yes, then add the 8k join, its for the living expenses. living expenses might be food inclusive or not. some schools add it while some will give you list of the number of time youi want to eat their food per day, maybe 3times or just once. check you school website or probably email them but for me, i think off campus housing is cheaper and you also got privaCY

juntod: Well, Americans don't think like Nigerians. Dread, long beard, earrings, etc will only look weird to a Nigerian interviewer. Dress in whatever is smart and comfortable for you. On the day of my interview, a clergy on suit and pastor's white collar was denied while another yoruba man dressed in native attire (agbada) with his hair weaved and his ears pierced was approved.
america no send you oo, i went to my school and was walking around, if you see dressing you go fear and me i was looking to official, some p[eople wear bathroom slipper, one girl had a black shower cap on her head and she came to the enrollment centre and like ewwww. they dont care, all the want is come to class, do your assignment and dont disturb anyone. if you like wear underwear, them no send but i will never trade my decent clothes for anything.
