President Buhari says that stricter laws are needed to prevent girls from being abused in our schools.

In his reaction to the recent high profile revelation of sexual abuse cases in institutions of higher learning in the country, President Buhari said he is glad that the incident, exposed through under-cover news reporting at the University of Lagos, has spurred an amendment to our laws regarding the issue in the National Assembly.

President Buhari said such proposed amendments passed by the Legislature will get his support as long as they conform to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The country must do more to address incidents of sexual violence, sexual abuses in our schools, discrimination, human trafficking and cultural practices that violate women’s rights,” said the President.

He urged law enforcement agencies and school administrators to take up such cases with every seriousness and ensure that perpetrators face the consequences of their actions.

“Survivors and their families must avoid cover up. They should be encouraged to come forth and report cases of abuses wherever and whenever they occur,” the President demanded.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is currently winning the war against fraudsters as Justice Patricia Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Ibadan on Friday, October 11, 2019, convicted two internet fraudsters (Yahoo Yahoo) and sentenced them to six months in prison each.

The convict, Idris Adedigba and Bola Seun Badejo, were found guilty of separate one-count charges bordering on fraudulent impersonation preferred against them by the Commission's Ibadan office.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has advised motorists and other petroleum products consumers not to engage in panic buying, saying there is enough petroleum products stock in 55 depots across the country.

Listing the depots that have adequate petroleum products stock, NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, in a release today in Abuja, stated that 23 depots in Lagos, seven in Port Harcourt, 11 in Warri, six in Calabar and eight in Kaduna were fully stocked with white products.

He explained that two vessels of 50million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise called petrol, would arrive the shores of Nigeria every day from tomorrow.

The release assured Nigerians of an eventful Easter period just as the just ended Yuletide, even as it cautioned depot owners or terminal operators not to sell petrol above the official ex-depot price of N133.28k per litre.

The corporation also advised petroleum products marketers not to sell the product above N145 per litre.

The release said the subsisting ex-depot petrol price of N133.28k per litre was consistent with the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency’s (PPPRA) template and should be adhered to.

He advised Nigerians to remain vigilant and volunteer information to the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), the Industry regulator or to any law enforcement agency around them, on any station which sells petrol beyond N145 per litre.

There were series of rumours of Visa banned on Nigerians, over the arrest of five Nigerians in connection with a robbery incident at Bureau De Exchange in Dubai, UAE.

CP Lagos paid condolence visit to the family of Kolade Johnson…We have full assurances that Justice will prevail - Family

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu mni today paid a condolence visit to the family of Kolade Johnson.

The CP was accompanied by the DCP in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Ayuba Elkanah, DCP in charge of the Department of Operations, DCP Mohammed Ali, the DCP in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Yetunde Longe and other Senior Police Officers from the Command. The Commissioner of Police was received by the Head of the deceased’s family Alh Remi Lukman in their residence at No. 1 Beco Street, Onipetesi, Mangoro Bus stop.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police condemned the action of the members of the Anti Cultism team suspected to have carried out the shooting and reiterated his commitment in ensuring that justice is done in the matter.

He stated that the men suspected to have carried out the shooting have been apprehended and subjected to internal disciplinary procedures. He revealed their names as (1) Insp Ogunyemi Olalekan and (2) Sgt Godwin Orji attached to Anti Cultism Squad

The CP prayed for the repose of the soul of Kolade Johnson and also prayed that the Almighty God will grant the family, friends and well wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

In his reaction, the Head of Kolade Johnson’s family expressed his gratitude to the CP for honoring the family with his presence and his resolve in ensuring that justice prevails in the case. He commended the CP for the bold steps taken in exposing those behind the shootings.

He added that “I thought it is going to be a one man’s fight but seeing the Police high Command joining our family in this fight has shown that Justice will not only be done to Kolade but to the entire Nigerian youths.

I am glad that we have a new police force which believes in Justice” He described his late son as a peace loving person and called on well wishers to remain calm and allow the law to take its cause.

Pastor Sam Adeyemi’s Daystar Christian Centre, has presented a 10 million Naira cheque donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees UNHCR. The UNHCR disclosed the donation through a tweet.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU says it will abide by the contents of the 2019 Memorandum of Action (MoA) agreed upon by the union and the Federal Government.


ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, gave this assurance yesterday in Abuja.

He was reacting to a statement circulating on the social media regarding ASUU’s plan to embark on another strike.

Mr Ogunyemi, however, said if the government failed to fulfill its part of the agreement as reflected in the 2019 MoA ASUU would resume its suspended strike as the union deemed fit.


“Some of the agreements are already coming up, but some are still pending with respect to our Memorandum of Action and we will continue to do that and there is no continuation of any strike action for now".

Governor Okowa of Delta State, has paid condolence visit to the families of those who were killed at the just concluded Presidential election in Sapale, Delta State on the 23rd February, 2019.
