Adolite: Just one question, so everyone can be informed.... from the time you were first denied (plus the 3 consecutive denials), till the day you eventually got it.. How long did it take? |

imperiouxx: Imperriouxx, I know your case and I know of a friend that wanted to follow your footstep and got denied 4 record times in 2012. Well, as far as i know anyone applying to the US embassy in a year, he had the highest count. He arrived Australia this month for studies and we all know how hard it is securing an Australian visa. It took him 4 months, but he did. Anyway, my advice to any applicant is, to increase your chances, do not re-apply immediately you are denied. |

Adolite: I don't know if they changed the rule, but the US visa denial letter I know about, usually states that you allow 6 months and make sure your circumstances have changed before re-applying. Even if they have stopped including that clause in their letter now (maybe to increase number of applicants and indirectly amount of money they garner from applicants), but it is always advisable to really make your circumstance change before re-applying. Desperation and re-applying ASAP for another interview will only spell doom and you will be seen as an INTENDING IMMIGRANT. Anything can happen though, and you might be lucky and be approved, but giving them that notion that you are an intending IMMIGRANT and not a NON-IMMIGRANT (F-1 Visa applicant) usually annoy them, and an example is re-applying as soon as you are denied. Check this out. Nobody knows everything but with right information, you have the power to conquer a whole lot in life. I am a blogger and read a lot of things, (some juice and some crap) and I make use of the information I have to empower myself intellectually and tactically. Ignorance is a disease, my friend #2Reasons: Why Nigerians get their visa applications denied – US Consulate |

shoggie: That woman issuing so many visas was just a case of luck, mood and God on that day. That same woman can deny every student applicant on another particular day. The guy who interviewed you, is just how a typical US consular officer in Nigeria behaves. You sit down there before your interview and everybody before your turn get denied, except maybe a lucky few. |

shoggie: Glory be to God in the highest place. I was denied an F1 Visa today. The bolded might have changed his mind to approve your visa. Thing is, when they start typing, they are typing the reason why you can't be issued already, even before they officially verbally tell you that you have been denied. He just used that question to buttress his point on their database for the reason he denied you, and having no travel experience was part of it, so the next VO to interview you, will know what and what to look out for and ask. The assistant consular general of the US embassy in Nigeria, said the same thing in a media chat late last year that most Nigerians are denied solely based on the fact that they don't have any travel experience. Wait a while before re-applying ..possibly a year or two.. make your circumstances change, try to travel to a country during that period, SA, UAE or UK.. blah blah..and re-apply, you will definitely be issued, except you bleep it up yourself again. |

Since you have written a very nice prose condemning Nigerians in the diaspora, and say you are managing life in America... why don't you come back to Nigeria to "manage life"? |
Politics / Re: Nigeria Is Truly Useless by zerocool(m): 2:54am On Jan 04, 2013 |
MegaMan2020: Who makes $150,000 per year? Even a first year entry salary for an American doctor is $60,000 average per year. The Nigerian Naira is in Millions, and valueless, so you are comparing with $150,000. That is so not right, you have to factor in the purchasing power of each country's currency. |

braine: People who aren't even in Nigeria cannot just make that conclusion. I don't think Nigeria is that bad. Mind you, people who aren't in Nigeria and make these conclusions, once lived in Nigeria and visit Nigeria regularly. "You think" Nigeria is not that bad? With all the vast resources and wealth? why not travel to other countries and see for yourself before you make such self proclamation that it is not bad. |
Politics / Re: Nigeria Is Truly Useless by zerocool(m): 2:10am On Jan 04, 2013 |
babyosisi: , Very few Nigerians want to live and die abroad. All these things that you mentioned above still brings us back to the OP's topic that - Nigeria is Truly Useless. So, what is the point here? If the country functions properly, why live like a dog in Europe and America, when you can live like a king or prince in Nigeria. |

Nigeria was actually named the "Worst Country To Be Born in Year 2013". A commendable feat. Trust me, a Nigerian baby will never grasp the finger of a doctor, instance of the news that just made Nairaland front-page. |
Politics / Re: Nigeria Is Truly Useless by zerocool(m): 1:39am On Jan 04, 2013 |
We understand Nigeria is so bad, even from the number of applicants lined up in all the various embassies in the country. Right here, I visited the UK consulate and lo, and behold!.. I was the only applicant at 9am. Whereas in Nigeria my motherland, visa applicants will be there from 4am. Damn!!! The number of visa lottery entries is also alarming.. Lol. Nigeria oh Nigeria!! The second highest number of foreign trained medical doctors who were removed from the UK General Medical Register about 2 days ago were NIGERIAN DOCTORS trained in NIGERIA! Haha!! That explains the standard of education. Country where a Governor gets sick, there is no good hospital to treat him in, except he is transferred abroad. Country that spends 60 BILLION NAIRA for mobile phones for FARMERS!!! HA!! Country that announced even before the Year 2013 started that 178 BILLION NAIRA will be BORROWED in 2013 to effectively run the economy....that is even 1 year after SUBSIDY REMOVAL. SMH Nigeria.. |

Celebrities / How Did Kim Kardashian Make All That Cash? by zerocool(m): 1:17am On Jan 04, 2013 |
Kim Kardashian has never exactly had it tough. Her father was Robert Kardashian, a top lawyer who represented American football star OJ Simpson in his 1995 murder trial. When he died in 2003 he left Kim, her sisters Kourtney and Khloé, and brother Robert, a multi-million pound trust fund. But the 32-year-old American hasn’t rested on her inheritance, in fact, she’s massively increased it while also becoming one of the most famous faces on the planet. From (modest) fortune to fame There’s no getting around it, the first time Kim came to the public consciousness was when an intimate tape made with ex-boyfriend hip-hop singer Ray J became an internet sensation. Soon Kim’s face was recognisable worldwide. Production company Vivid Entertainment bought the rights to the footage for $1 million and released the film as ‘Kim Kardashian: Superstar’ in 2007. Kardashian sued Vivid for ownership of the tape, later settling out of court for $5 million. But her rise up the celebrity rankings truly took off with reality TV show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, which arrived on our TV screens, courtesy of E!, in October 2007. By 2010 Kim was the world’s highest-earning reality star – raking in $6 million (£3.7 million) that year alone, according to International Business Times in Australia. The show follows the lives of Kim, her sisters, mother and ex-athlete stepfather Bruce Jenner. The show’s been running ever since and in April 2012 E! signed a new three-year deal worth $50 million with the Kardashian family that will keep them on the air through to a ninth season. It’s money well spent, Kim’s wedding became the most-watched show the channel has ever aired. Then there’s the spin-offs – and Kim’s been in all of them: ‘Kourtney and Kim Take New York’, ‘Khloé & Lamar’ and ‘Kourtney and Kim Take Miami’. She’s also collected pay cheques for a variety of appearances as herself, on as a judge on ‘America’s Next Top Model’, as a contestant on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ (America’s version of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’) and hosted countless award ceremonies. Beyond reality TV But the TV shows only make up a small proportion of Kim’s earnings these days. Between May 2011 and May 2012 alone she is estimated to have made $18 million (£11 million). Other business interests include the DASH boutique where Kim and her sisters are co-owners, a clothing line for the retail store Bebe and her own jewellery range. There’s also an impressive list of product endorsements and advertising deals including Cakes Va-Va-Va-Nilla cupcake mix, Sketchers Shape-ups trainers, Kotex Pantyliners, weight-loss product Quick Trim, Beach Bunny Swimwear and K Dash for QVC clothing. Inevitably, she also has a workout video: ‘Fit in your Jeans By Friday’. And that’s not counting advertising on her website – which is read by millions each month – and sponsored tweets sent to her 17 million followers on Twitter. Not all successful Kim’s name doesn’t quite have the Midas touch, however. In November 2010 she and her sisters put their name to a prepaid Mastercard – the Kardashian Kard – which they claimed would teach youngsters about money management. But the card came with some high fees and Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal described the card as “predatory”. The Kardashians decided this was publicity they didn’t need and withdrew their support. A judge subsequently threw out a $75 million lawsuit against the sisters for backing out of the endorsement. A wedding that actually made money Kim’s short-lived marriage to MBA player Kris Humphries was also a big earner, at least at first. She began dating the basketball player in October 2010, got engaged in May 2011 and married in August the same year. The wedding in Montecito, California generated $18 million in revenue, ‘Celebrity Net Worth’ magazine calculated. This included $500,000 for holding her hen night at Tao nightclub in Las Vegas; between $15 and 17 million from TV channel E! to have the exclusive deal to cover her wedding; and between $500,000 and $1 million from ‘People Magazine’ for the wedding pictures. But 72 days later it was all over; Kardashian filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce is still being thrashed out now, more than a year later. That hasn’t slowed her down though, she’s since formed a celebrity super-couple with rapper Kanye West and on New Year’s Eve announced she is pregnant with their first child – and just for good measure, she later attended a star-studded party – which papers report she was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to host. Nice work if you can get it. http://forumcitizens.com/featured/how-did-kim-kardashian-make-all-that-cash/ |
