This has little to do with genuine concern over the conditions of the mosque and markets in Lagos, and more to do with government trying to gentrify Lagos by pushing out all of the poor people.
Where the mosques, markets, and houses for the poor once were will be newly built infrastructure and properties, all too expensive for the poor who once inhabited that area to afford.

Exactly. As a 'Black British' (Jamaican background) person, I find these 'jokes' disgusting. Being at the receiving end of racism, and seeing how some white people view, portray, and talk about African countries/Black majority countries and African/Black people, these tweets disgust me. I was genuinely personally offended by some of them, because I've seen racist white people (or racist non-Blacks in general) say things like this, so it cuts deep. Smh. I know they're joking, but it honestly does them no favours. They made me cringe and grit my teeth, especially when they were making fun of the poverty in either countries, and making mean jabs at each other's complexion.

They're lucky. If the flood water was half a meter higher, if would've flooded that building, and it possibly could've seeped into the cars.

It's very unusual for fires to break out in one home, and then to spread to another three. Either, the people inside the houses were out for hours while their houses were burning, assuming the houses are secluded, and they have no other neighbours, which I doubt. Or the houses were built in a dangerous way, with highly flammable materials, and they didn't have fire alarms, meaning the fire spread very quickly, which I believe sounds more plausible. Maybe I'm wrong, perhaps the fire services were just slow? I don't know. But, it's a shame, regardless.

Who are you to tell him his experience wasn't racism? And why was he the only one to be checked, and just so happened to be black? Furthermore, this clearly isn't an isolated incident, as others have said they've had similar experiences.
