A 46- year old man who was apprehended by the Badarwa/ Malali Concerned Forum, aka Ojimeme, for defiling an 11-year old girl in Kaduna has confessed to committing the act.

The suspect, Baba Mohammed, however, said the purpose for which he committed the rape offense was purely for rituals in order to make money.

Mohammed, an electrical engineer was caught on Tuesday having carnal knowledge of the girl in her father’s house at Badarawa festac road by her elder sister.

The suspect who is married and has a child confessed to committing the crime, adding that his action was highly regreted.

He confessed that he was given a charm by an herbalist in Maiduguri said to be potent for creating wealth upon sleeping with a minor.

“I was given the charm from one man in Maiduguri, Borno State, the man said I should rub it on any girl of between 10 and 11 years of age and then sleep with her after which I will have a lot of wealth ,” the suspect said.

Narrating her experience to our correspondent at the Badarawa/Malali Concerned Forum’s office where the suspect was being held to be handed over to the police, the girl (names withheld) said the suspect had forcefully slept with her over three times now at different places.

She told the forum that the suspect who always gave her fifty naira after sleeping with her would warn her not to reveal what transpired between them to any person,

The father of the girl, Usman Adamu, who reported the case, insisted that the demands of justice must met while also narrating how the suspect was caught in his room defiling his daughter.

A Nigerian preacher has been robbed and racially abused by two men as he walked to his church in north Glasgow.

The 46-year-old was on his way to a church in Ashfield Street when he was attacked on Bardowie Street by two men.

He was hit with a glass bottle and punched before the men ran off with his rucksack at about 23:35 on Friday.

Police Scotland are treating the attack as a hate crime. The preacher sustained only minor injuries but was "very shaken", officers said.

The suspects were white and in their late teens. One is described as medium to heavy build, with a short dark crew cut hairstyle and wearing a grey hooded top, black tracksuit trousers and white trainers.

The second man has a slim build with short light brown hair, wearing a black hooded top and red tracksuit bottoms.

The preacher had just got off a bus on Saracen Street before the attack. The two men stole his rucksack which had a Bible and other possessions inside.

Det Con Alan Watt said: "On checking CCTV we can see the two suspects hanging about in Saracen Street a short time before the attack. I would appeal to anyone who recognises their description or who has information that will help officers with their enquiries to contact the Community Investigation Unit at Pollok via 101."
DC Watt said he was keen to hear from the driver of a grey Hackney taxi who was seen on CCTV just before the attack.
