The earlier we Igbos accept the fact that Buhari is the President of this country, the better for us. A lotta folks on this thread have been heaping insults on Obiano cos of his perceived friendship with the govt at the centre, that's foolish in my opinion. Whether we like it or not, Gej lost the elections and he has since moved on. Obi and Obiano maintained a cordial relationship with the Gej govt to the betterment of Anambra state. Any failure to maintain the same cordial relationship with the present fed govt will only be childish and foolish on the part of the state govt. I'm not suggesting that Obiano should be Buhari's puppet, but rather act mature and do things for the general good of the state.
From the way a lot of us sound here, it's obvious that we can't be leaders even in the smallest capacity. Politics of hate and bitterness can't do anybody any good. Imagine someone blaming Obiano for going to the Airport to welcome the vice President who was on a condolence visit to Anambra over the disaster that happened some weeks back. Some peeps are just emotional cry babies! |

AnambraDota: To be sincere Anambra state is no longer in a safe hand, I can authoritaviely tell you this having concluded my investigation so far.
Am not a scaremonger but the open disdain shown by Obiano on Obi has shown all is not going well with Light of the Nation.
The Onitsha Hotel, three Malls will suffer the fate of ICC in Enugu because of rancour between Nnamani and Sullivan. Obiano have abandoned every projects in Anambra but he working day n night on all the projects without economic importance to Anambra State which are located in his hometown of Aguleri.
My take is that Onitsha and Nnewi are gradually returning to their old filthy ways, pass through Iweka Road and see mountain of refuse heaps, I was in Moore Street on Wednesday night when I looked through the window I saw Pigs roaming the streets scavenging on dirts heaped in the middle of the roads adjoining Okwei Street.
Obiano has completely lost touch with reality, he has lost focus because he is playing politics of pull him down.
Am sad to say this but its factual, Anambra State have to applied shock absorber because the present government is far cry from what we expected.
~Buddah. Though i'm not in support of governors concentrating projects in their community of origin, but you've got to cut obiano some slack. It's generally known that the least developed areas of Anambra are mostly the riverine areas and their neighboring communities of which Obiano's town is one. If the gov fails to open up the area now, who will? Ngige did same at alor during his short span as gov. Your patron saint, peter obi also constructed a lot of roads in Agulu and kick started the lake resort before he left office. If you must criticize Obiano then do it constructively. At first, your gross was with mrs obiano but now you've transfered hate to the gov. Give it a break abeg. |

investnow2013: PRESS STATEMENT BY GOVERNMENT OF ANAMBRA STATE ON THE PLANNED RELOCATION OF BOKO HARAM CONVICTS TO ANAMBRA PRISONS: SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT
28 Jun 2015 The attention of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has been drawn to the mischievous speculations on the social media that the planned relocation of some Boko Haram convicts to some prisons in Anambra State was done with his tacit approval and endorsement. I wish to categorically dismiss these speculations, hearsay and beer parlour banters as fundamentally untrue and should be disregarded by Nigerians.
Hard Facts
The fact is that when governor Obiano got wind of the planned relocation of these high risk prisoners to Anambra State, he quickly swung into action and contacted the relevant authorities to seek clarifications on the matter after which he raised several objections to the plan.
Among Governor Obiano’s many objections are - 1. That Anambra has been one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria in the past one year under his watch and that the arrival of these radical elements in any part of the state would disrupt this peace and lead to a new regime of a different kind of fear in the state. 2. That Ekwulobia Prisons is not a Maximum Security Prison. It is therefore not suitable as holding place for convicted terrorists. Global experiences show that terrorists and terror suspects are kept in strongly fortified and isolated places. A good example is the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp where the US keeps high-risk terror suspects and convicts which is a military facility, located away from the people. Ekwulobia Prisons does not fit into this category of detention facilities. 3. That Ekwulobia Prisons has a capacity to hold 85 inmates. At the moment, there are 135 inmates in the prison. Therefore, there is no space for new prisoners. The acute shortage of space presents a high possibility for the radicalization of other inmates by the Boko Haram convicts. 4. That unlike other locations where the terror-convicts are held in sparsely populated areas which makes their isolation from the people easy, Ekwulobiais a densely populated town. There is a very high risk of contact between theseradical prisoners and the civilian population with an avoidable danger. 5. That the relocation of these prisoners to Anambra may not have paid adequate attention to the sensibilities of the country, especially the fact that some ethnic populations have suffered the most from the activities of these convicts across the North.
Governor Obiano’s efforts to establish this understanding and achieve a speedy and peaceful resolution of the matter went to the highest authorities. He was given assurances that the matter would be looked into with a view to resolving it with dispatch.
With these assurances he worked assiduously to ensure that there was no breakdown of law and order during the peaceful demonstration staged by traders across the state on Saturday, June 27, 2015 against the relocation of the inmates. Since the demonstration, Governor Obiano has continued to engage the relevant authorities on behalf of NdiAnambra to ensure an amicable resolution of the issue.
He therefore urges Ndi Anambra and Ndigbo in general to remain calm and avoid anything that might lead to a breach of the peace as the matter is being resolved at the highest level.
Thank you
James Eze

OreMI22: In a normal society , a state governement can say they don't want terrorists and the FG will obey, but not Nigeria.
Your reference about the so called "ordinary man's daily bread:", they know if they don't take care of this issue right now, they will have no daily bread to work for. It will only take a few bomb blasts in Onitsha main market and their customers will stop coming. Hopefully, in the next few days we'll know the truth of what is happening. |
Politics › Re: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by Zonacom(m): 3:37pm On Jun 27, 2015 |
OreMI22: The worst thing we can complacently tolerate now that Boko haram has resurrected themselves under Buhari is to allow their movement en-mass into our region. What happened to the massive prisons in Abuja and other northern states to accommodate these terrorists?
Boko Haram is known to always "break jail" and escape, only to surface a few weeks after the "jail break" to bomb everywhere. This plot is the first stage to destroy Igboland by bringing bombing and insurgency attacks to the Main market, Onitsha and other places. The same people have chased Igbo from the north, now they want to chase us away from our own land.
We should simply say NO to bringing Boko haram terrorists into Onitsha and make sure if they dare to bring those terrorists, we shall attack Onitsha prisons and kill those murderers ourselves and burn the place down. I understand your concern bro. But shouldn't the work of resisting the prisoner transfer (if true), rest solely with the anambra legislature and executives? Why is the ordinary man in the street forced to abandon his source of daily bread because of something the state elected officials should handle? Let me just leave it here sha, but i believe there is something fishy going on other than the rumour flying around. May God help us! |

SpaceTour: Igbos should resist such attempt on the great city of Onitsha. They just want to set the city of Onitsha as a Boko Haram target. If Boko can lay their hands on this all important economic city then Igbos will have themselves to blame. But how are we sure that the purported prisoner transfer is true in the first place. Secondly, is that enough reason to shut down the whole markets all of a sudden? I believe something fishy is going on. The govt should better issue a reasonable explanation for these. The tension created by this funny rumour is just uncalled for |
