Scoop: Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to Name Tina Flournoy as Chief of Staff

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is set to name Tina Flournoy, who currently serves as chief of staff to former President Bill Clinton, as her chief of staff, according to two sources involved in transition planning.

Flournoy, a graduate of Georgetown Law, previously served as assistant to the president for public policy at the American Federation of Teachers and performed various high-level roles in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Democratic presidential campaigns, including serving as vice presidential nominee Joe Lieberman’s traveling chief of staff in 2000.

Flournoy also served as chief counsel in Clinton’s White House Office of Presidential Personnel.


Donna Brazile, Tina Flournoy, Minyon Moore, Yolanda Caraway, and Leah Daughtry, a group of powerful Black women in Democratic politics who refer to themselves as “the Colored Girls”
Flournoy is a member of a group of friends and former colleagues who refer to themselves as “the Colored Girls,” Black women who have worked at the highest levels of Democratic politics. The group includes Donna Brazile, Yolanda Caraway, Leah Daughtry and Minyon Moore. In 2018, Brazile, Caraway, Daughtry, and Moore published a book entitled “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Politics,” which detailed some of their shared experiences in politics.

Earlier this month, Politico reported that Harris had tapped Moore to help vet candidates for key positions in her office, including chief of staff.

On Sunday, President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team announced that Ashley Etienne was named Harris’ White House communications director, and Symone Sanders was tapped to become the vice president’s senior adviser and chief spokesperson.

Co-host and network legal analyst Sunny Hostin said on Monday’s broadcast of ABC’s “The View” that President Donald Trump is “really in a psychosis right now” in how he is reacting to the 2020 election.

Whoopi Goldberg said, “Yesterday you-know-who gave his first post-election loss interview to Maria Bartiromo where he continued his claims of a rigged election and even threw his own intelligence agencies under the bus. Now take a look.”

In a Fox News clip, Trump said, “There’s no way Joe Biden beat Barack Obama in the black communities of various cities, and then he did very badly compared to Obama in other cities throughout the United States. There’s no way it happened. This election was a fraud. It was a rigged election.”

Hostin said, “I mean, some of the claims he made in the interview yesterday were so outrageous. It’s, you know, especially when he talked about black voters, Whoopi. It just seems to me that he is surprised that all the attempts at voter suppression, all the attempts at gerrymandering, all the attempts at screwing around with the U.S. Postal Service, those attempts were ineffective, and our, you know, our institutions held. I think that is what is surprising this president and his supporters because we know that that’s what was at play, especially in a place like Georgia. That was certainly at play in Michigan and Detroit. They really attacked black constituents, black voters. That was the plan, and it just didn’t work. Probably because of people like LaTosha Brown and Stacey Abrams, right? I think that’s where the surprise is coming from.”

She continued, “What’s also fascinating, he just needs to go to losers anonymous, and he is really in a psychosis right now. I’m surprised that the people around him like his daughter, like Jared Kushner, who somehow is on his way to the Middle East. I don’t understand why he has to go to the Middle East today or this week. I think they need to stage some sort of intervention at this point because he is now damaging the Republican Party even further with all of this rhetoric.”

Greater Manchester homeless scheme receives £300k boost

Forty more beds are to be made available for homeless people in Greater Manchester this winter.

Mayor Andy Burnham said providing the extra capacity under the Bed Every Night scheme would cost £300,000 and come from his Mayoral Priorities Fund.

It means the total number of beds available to homeless people in the region will increase to 520.

A homelessness charity recently warned that demand for its services had soared during the coronavirus pandemic.

More than £660,000 has also been pledged to support young people identified as being at high risk of homelessness.

The one-year pilot scheme will work with 250 to 300 men and women aged under 35.

A Bed Every Night, which began in 2018, provides a bed, hot meal and support for anyone at risk of sleeping rough.

Mr Burnham said it had been "an incredibly tough year" for Greater Manchester and warned of a "very challenging winter ahead".

He said about 115 people were currently sleeping rough across the region.

"That's 115 too many, particularly in the middle of a pandemic. It's a really challenging situation."

'Economic Crisis'
Jo Walby, of homelessness prevention charity Mustard Tree, said there had been a huge increase in demand for its services in recent months.

Before the pandemic, she said her charity would typically help about 500 people each month.

Now that's soared to more than 1,000 per week.

"What is clear is that the pandemic, as well as being a health issue, is also an economic crisis," said Ms Walby.

"The reality is if people lose their job they can't pay their rent, they will lose their tenancies, and that's what we've seen."

There are currently 3,600 individuals and families currently in temporary accommodation across Greater Manchester and 4,500 currently living in emergency accommodation.

Mr Burnham, who said his commitment to ending homelessness was "unshakeable", said this winter "promises to be one of the most difficult we've experienced, possibly in our lifetimes".

When you want everything to be perfect, you will miss out on the beauty of love. Love is seen in the flaws, storms and struggles. Love is an opportunity to grow. Growth means the two still have areas to improve. Love is not for the perfect but those willing to grow.

2. “You are letting third parties interfere”
If you allow third parties to run and direct your love life you will struggle in your relationship/marriage. Don’t let your parents, siblings and friends micro manage you and your partner/spouse.

3. “You want to copy others”
As long as you want to be like other couples or compete against them, your love life will be empty. No fulfillment comes out of being a copy cat.

4. “You keep shifting goal posts”
When you and your partner/spouse agree on something, don’t keep changing your mind lest you find yourselves going round and round without making progress. If you fail to give your relationship/marriage progress it will make you feel stuck and bored.

Wanting everything to go your way will make your partner/spouse tolerate you rather than celebrate you. It also will lead to frustration as life has ups and downs. God is not just interested in your spiritual life. God cares about your social life, your sexual life, your emotions, the food you eat; everything about you. God wants you to be more than a vessel serving, God wants you to enjoy life. God wants you to enjoy the wife of your youth. Because sex has brought a lot of pain to many when abused or misused, many tend to have a negative view towards sex, they see sex as evil, dirty, unGodly. These people in marriage are the ones who are rigid when making love. They have sex as an obligation, not for intimacy. They detest different sexual positions claiming sexual curiosity in marriage is wrong. They miss out on the beauty of intimacy.

There are many who hide secrets from their partner/spouse. They hide who they truly are. They always want to show their good side. And so, they are not vulnerable. They hide their tears, battles and fears from their partner/spouse thereby denying their partner/spouse an opportunity to be there for them. Stop acting you are happy and in charge yet deep down you are hurting, broken and lost. Open up to your partner/spouse so that you can be loved. Stop standing in the way of love by hiding your weaknesses. Relax. Be loved.

14. “You are insecure”
Insecurity will make you dethrone yourself even when your position in your partner/spouse’s life is not under threat. It will make you falsely accuse your partner/spouse for no reason, make you paranoid, make you jealous when you shouldn’t be and will give you sleepless nights. Don’t push your partner/spouse away. Be secure in yourself. Have a healthy self-esteem.

15. “You overthink”
Some people always have to worry. Even when in a romantic setting or when making love, they are anxiously worried. Learn to keep calm. Don’t spoil the moment by always trying to be intellectual.

Israeli military instructed to prepare for Trump strike on Iran: report

Israel's military is preparing for the possibility that the Trump administration will launch a military strike against Iran, Axios reported on Wednesday.

Senior Israeli officials told the outlet that the Israeli government instructed military commanders to prepare for a potential strike during the “very sensitive period” between now and when President-elect Joe Biden takes office on Jan. 20.

Israel is reportedly making preparations with the expectation that they would receive advance notice from the U.S. regarding any military action, but with concerns that such notification might come too close to the attack.

Israel is also preparing for the possibility of a retaliatory strike by Iran, either directly or through proxies in nearby countries.

The New York Times reported last week that President Trump was considering a military strike against Iran in an attempt to stop Tehran's growing nuclear program. The International Atomic Energy Agency a day earlier had reported that the country’s uranium stockpile was 12 times higher than allowed under the Obama-era nuclear deal that the Trump administration withdrew from in 2018.

Trump reportedly held a meeting Thursday in the Oval Office to discuss his options, but Vice President Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller and Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, dissuaded him against such actions.

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz has spoken twice over the past two weeks with Miller to discuss Iran, Syria and defense cooperation.

On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Saudi Arabia with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The main topic of conversation was Iran, Israeli officials told Axios.

State Department officials, meanwhile, told reporters that “all options are on the table,” regarding Iran.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have been high since January, when Trump ordered a drone strike in Baghdad that killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force.

U.S. Central Command head Gen. Frank McKenzie said last week that destabilizing actions by Iran have continued and “increased in scope and severity” since 2019.
