@ we we, So this was how the car was when it happened. Yes, you told me earlier about the incident, but i didnt quite get the pic until now. I saw the car in front of your office few weeks ago. If not for the bonnet and fender with different colours to the body, i would have thought it wasnt your car. Whoever did that job must be good in what he does. From the pictures, i could see that the chassis wasnt really affected. Peugeot maynot be the best brand, but they are so good in designing chassis. Anyone that knows the importance of good designed and strong chassis, would understand what i mean. We thank God for you and your family. Ikenna |

Hi Ikenna, please my car remote (peugeot 406) doesn't work any more as the buttons are broken and I suspect the panel is also damaged. Thanks to my internal car wash (my baby girl's saliva). It's just for locking and unlocking anyways. How do I get another one? Can I get a new/used one and pair with my car? Good Morning. |

Hello House!!! Good to be back, bin away on an assignment nice to see the Lion Lovers still kicking... @ Ikenna Thanks for all the assist on my car O2 sensor earlier, didnt return as early as I hoped so my wife had to change the sensor with my mech. Well my car fuel consumption is ok now. Will still need your contact when I want to change the lower lamba sensor which my last scan revealed was also faulty. Really appreciate you man! |

Hi House! My lion has been mis-firing while idling each morning for the past two days now and when it starts the engine wont rev even with the throttle floored. The problem then goes away immediately the engine get very warm mostly between the drive from home to the office. Am suspecting the culprit to be the plugs but given my relative experience I ll appreciate your informed contributions. Will still change the plugs whatever the outcome though for preventive maintenace reasons or as the culprit so will appreciate any information on the ideal plugs for a fox. Ikenna changed his sometime and posted some useful info on this thread, which av been searching for but cant find that particular post. @ Ikenna no vex if you could share knowledge on this, asked my mech preemptively about the cost of good plugs and he mentioned 6000k for the four, I think NGK brand or something.Thanks. |

The problem then goes away immediately the engine get very warm mostly between the drive from home to the office. Am suspecting the culprit to be the plugs but given my relative experience I ll appreciate your informed contributions. Yes, an ignition issue, but doesn't sound like a spark plugs problem. It could be CTS or even Air filter. The culprit can be found through manual troubleshooting which I can guide you through, but would be patient to go through it? It could take days or even weeks, but it helps me to understand my cars better each time I manually troubleshoot a fault in any of them. Otherwise, I would advice you to scan that car, if possible with pp2000. PP2000 will tell you if the spark plugs are the culprit. Not only that, it will go further and tell you which of the plugs (#1,#2,#3 or #4 plugs) that is causing the misfiring or all of them. If its the ignition coil, CTS, MAP or whatever component that is causing the problem, it will display the faulty component. PP2000 will also tell you how good your fuel pump is. A failing spark plug will give mis-firing symptom sometimes, but most times, the car will rough idle. But since you said the problem goes away as soon as the engine warms, I doubt spark plugs are the culprit, unless tested and ruled out. Ikenna. |

Re: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by wisesystem: 6:16am On Jul 30, 2013 |
Ikenna351: Thanks for the swift reply Ikenna. I definitely need a PP2000 and am making arrangements to get one soonest from Bigz on nairaland. While I ll definately go for a scan am very interested in manually trouble-shooting if you could guide me through. I need the exposure so I can know my lion better, just tell me where to start... For budgetary reasons though, what do you have to say about the cost and brand of good plugs? Thanks. |
Re: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by wisesystem: 8:24pm On Jul 31, 2013 |
wisesystem: Update On My Fox.Decided to be sure of the cause intermittent stutter in the engine so I decided to tacke some lingering issues. changed the lower lamba O2 sensor and decided to get new plugs: GOOD NEWS: Check Engine light disappears and no more antipollution fault warning on display. Also new plugs feeling good while on the move. Global scan with PP2000 revealed no fault. BAD NEWS: engine stuttering continues, observed that the problem no more only occurs while engine is cold as i earlier thought but even when engine is hot. Flooring the throttle does little to help on these occasions rather worsens the problem. Also noticed my steering was getting stiff while driving home this evening though my power steering fluid was well guaged during routine check in the morning. Guys Help!!!!!! @ Ikenna am still waiting for trouble-shooting tips. ope this update helps. |

Opened my bonnet this morning and realised that my upper lamba o2 sensor connecting wire was cut right from the sensor head, looks like the sensor cable wire got caught in the steering rod. well my mechanic gave me a brand new one realising his boy didnt place the wire properly while fixing the lower lamba sensor yesterday. Guessing that was the cause of the issues I had on my drive home from work yesterday, well so far av not experience any of the issues of yesterday but dont want to conclude so fast the problem is over. By the way this thread is so quiet, were are all the Gurus? I feel very abandoned... |
Re: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by wisesystem: 5:39pm On Aug 01, 2013 |
wisesystem: Just got back from the office, still no hint of all the issues earlier mentioned. Looking like the culprit of my car issues was the lower lamba O2 sensor which a scan with PP2000 revealed. since I changed the faulty lower lamba sensor I haven't had misfiring issues. still observing the outcome though and hope the next couple of days would prove me right or wrong. Note that the power steering issue I mentioned was actually when unknown to me the upper lamba sensor cable got stuck in the connecting rod to the steering wheel. |

Ikenna351: Pretty obvious Man. Well that's been my story, I THINK OWNING A pp2000 just went up my scale of preference, wont have believed the absence of an O2 sensor could affect a car so badly, still observing the car though. 1 Like |

Anti-pollution fault and black smoke means excessive fueling, which means one or two of sensors/components that determines the amount of fuel that goes into the combustion chambers is faulty. A failed CTS will give those symptoms (CTS cost 5k). Also a failed oxygen sensor, MAP, wrong connection or even clogged fuel filter would give you the Anti-pollution fault. Solution? Simply scan the car to know which of the sensors that is causing the problems. Ikenna |
