The State Security Service (SSS) Bauchi State Command has paraded a 25 years-old man who has been parading himself as a legal practitioner and staff of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) in Bauchi. The Assistant Director of the SSS in the state, Mr Olu Justin, while parading the suspect, who was identified as Ibrahim Aminu before newsmen yesterday said the arrest followed a tip-off. He added that the suspect allegedly defrauded two men of N193,000, after impersonating as a member of the National Bar Association, Gombe branch.
Mr Justin said items recovered from the suspect include 83 passports, forged stamp of Providence Chamber, Dutse, Jigawa State, and identification cards of the University of Maiduguri and the Nigerian Bar Association, Gombe State branch.

He added that the suspect was also accused of impersonating as a staff of the NIA, collecting money from unsuspecting people on the pretence of helping them to secure employment. Justin said the suspect would soon be handed over to the police, and warned members of the public to be wary of the likes of Ibrahim.  Fielding questions from newsmen, Ibrahim said he is married with a daughter. He said he regrets his actions, and that hardship pushed him into crime.  The suspect, who spoke impeccable English, said he was studying at the University of Maiduguri before he was forced to drop out due to financial problems. He added that he was currently studying law at the College of Legal and Islamic Studies, Misau.

On the passports found on him, the suspect said they belonged to WAEC and SSCE candidates of the school where he teaches. He said though he was not qualified to teach, he was offered the job when he explained his financial problems to the school authority.

This agency no doubt in recent time have taken it upon themselves roles supposed to be played by the police and other security agencies.they remain the reason why I still have confidence that terrorism will soon be nibbed in a box in no distant time...I pray God to provide them and other security agencies the needed wisdom in maintaining peace and unity in the country.

Is good to catch the petty criminals but the huge security budget is to get to the bottom of BH. What is SSS doing in that direction?
