The police in Kogi say additional eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings of 19 worshippers at a Deeper Life Bible Church, Okene, on Aug. 6.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina, who disclosed this to newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday, however, said two of the suspects had died in custody.

Mr. Katsina did not provide details of who the dead suspects are and under what circumstances they died.

Key suspects, who could help resolve a crime, are often pronounced dead by the police.

The commissioner however said the police arrested two of the eight new suspects in a bus on Murtala Mohammad Bridge, Jamata, Lokoja, on their way to the state from one of the neighbouring states.

Mr. Katsina said that the arrested persons were suspected to be among the attackers of the church, who were re-grouping after the attack.

The police commissioner also said that the attackers hatched their plot to attack the church and Okene Local Government Secretariat at their hideout in the Eyika Adagu area of the local government.

"Three persons each were detailed to attack the church and the soldier respectively; the pastor was the target of the attack but because of confusion as they entered the church, they were shooting sporadically.''

He said that the gang also confessed that they had planned to launch another attack on Aug. 19, to disrupt the services and the Eid-el-Fitri celebration before the arrest of its leader.

The police in the state had announced on Aug. 13 that 16 suspects had been arrested in connection with the Okene church killings.

But Mr. Katsina did not say what has become of the 16 initial suspects and where they are being held.

The commissioner also said that two bomb-manufacturing factories were discovered on Tuesday in Abu Limit Estate and Eyika Adagu in Okene and Okehi Local Government Areas respectively.

Conducting journalists round the factories, Mr. Katsina said they were discovered following information provided by the arrested leader of the 21-man gang who masterminded the church attack.

Better Put it,
"Boko haram is a militant arm of PDP".
You may disagree with this, but Azazi knew it.
That is why, Alli Ndume(PDP senator, Borno) would not be prosecuted.
That is why Kabiru Sokoto will be found courting the Borno Govt house in Abuja.
That is why all references made by Ndume on Sambo(VP) will make no meaning.
That is why the Head of Criminals will be the SPECIAL ADVISER TO PDP GOVERNOR IN KOGI STATE.
Those guys will be killed to cover up their ills.
Even if police wants to do the right thing, orders from above won't allow it.
I am not holding brief for Police, but PDP's do or die politics gave birth to Boko Haram and all other militants in nigeria.

Check MEND's history.
Check its activities before 1998.
Check it before 2003.
You will be able to see the link between PDP's issuance of ammunitions to hooligans before elections without fulfilling their promises to the same.
However, those ammunitions can not be recovered back from them.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. . . i wonder o o o o *eyes rolling* too many strange things happen to suspects in police custody these days with little or no explanation. I just hope they get to the root of the motive behind these senseless murders inside the Church and even mosques. I even read somewhere that an aide to the Gov was. involved

Nigeria Police Force knows how to close a case in a perfect way without any further questioning.

I guess they were under threat or the power of money, well maybe both.

This is not a surprise anymore. We had use to series of death or missing of suspects or principal witnesses of some national issue cases in Nigeria. The police should have tell us what brought to their untimely death, it is constitutional for the police to take care of ill heath people in their custody. What are they tortoise in black uniform looking when they knew these suspects are ill, or they just died over night? I beg, all na lie. And soon our leader will soon come to tell us that our country go better. Mtcheeeeeew

Not everyone is clueless like you, So if a criminal is arrested, is he kept in the prison without medical attention or should be taking to hospital for treatment and after which get necessary info. We are not ready to put an end to the Boko haram menace simple, mind you the accuse may even be innocent people or better still pick pocket or ordinary thief, in Nigeria cases are swing within seconds
