February 1, 2012 saw Facebook grow into a real business with its listing on the New York stock exchange, though the excitement was short lived with plunging stock prices and calls for him to step down as CEO. Facebook is estimated to have over 845 million active monthly users and its website features at least 2.7 billion daily likes and comments.

Of these million of users are over five million Nigerians, male and female, young and old who also have active accounts on other social media sites. The number of Facebook users will increase daily as emphasis as shifted from just the PC to the mobile phones which now have increased features and price reductions daily.

The security risks on social media sites are vast with cases of rape, kidnap and death, it is sad that some people have found a way to exploit the technology that has managed to breach the distance between friends, loved ones, to make new friends and connect the world.
