A great question.

The FCT is another north central state with a fancy name but with a governor ("minister") that is appointed. We might as well ask why there has been no southern governor in the north or vice versa.

The answer is simple; Abuja is not the federal capital of Nigeria in the real sense of the word. Abuja is a northern city dominated by northerners and it has been pencilled down as the future capital of Arewa republic in the event of a future north - south split. It will take a president with a strong political will to appoint someone from the south as minister.

Why should a southerner rule over a northern territory ? I for once will not even want any other ethnic group to rule over yoruba territories.Abuja belongs to northerners,so southerners should keep off that axis !

Has there been any northerner as minister of niger delta affairs?

belovedaja: Has there been any northerner as minister of niger delta affairs?

^^^But there's been loads of northerners as minister of petroleum undecided....and besides, it would have to take someone that's clued on to the issues affecting the Niger delta to be an effective minister of Niger Delta affairs; someone that can interact with the different personalities and egos that may or may not affect the relentless exploitation of crude.

The same case cannot be made for the FCT, which is supposed to be the federal capital for ALL of Nigeria and its component parts and ethnicities, with ALL of us having an EQUAL STAKE.....well, at least that's what we were told when they schemed to move it up north in the 70's. The fact of the matter is this whole FCT thing is one big scam, and they should stop pretending......just like this whole Nigeria project is one big scam too.

If we were to say now that whoever wants to, can claim/control Abuja and let others claim/control whatever they find on their land, you'll then see these hypocrites start shouting 'no way!', that it (crude) belongs to everyone and can only be controlled and shared as the federal gov't deems fit.

Abuja belong 2 Guari or Bagi. They are indegen of the area,They deserve 2 be d fct minister. Not Igbo or Hausa.Because a Guari can never be a governor in Igbo or Hausa land.Ibb really did injustice 2 does Guari ppl,by removing them out of Niger state. Now their land is populated by parasite, imagine an Igbo dreaming to rule over a north central land, what a nerve.Go try that 4 Lagos and see wat will happen.

Cos there is nowhere in the constitution where it is stated that the position of minister of the Fct should be the exclusive right of northerners.

why is it called the federal capital terroritory, then?

If no southerner is permitted to be FCT minister, then rename it the northern capital territory and create a southern capital territory...

the country has been long divided by the parasites, the only reason that they are afraid to say its over is because of the oil money

^^^With due respect, you're being too clever by half mate. So are you saying that as the FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY all Nigerians should not have equal stake in the running of the city? You really are a crafty lot.....championing one indivisible 'FEDERAL' republic of Nigeria only when it fits into your agenda. Lagos you mentioned is no more the capital of Nigeria; but that still doesn't mean anyone else besides a Yoruba should not be able to aspire to be governor....whether he gets the required number of votes to win is another issue (and if he sells himself convincingly, maybe he would get enough votes even from Yorubas to win....the key thing is to allow him the space to contest even if you feel he's being a bit deluded wink); the same people that fought for the survival of 'Federal Republic of Nigeria' now want to change the rules midway through the game just because they feel like it.

You only want 'one Nigeria' because you can't live on your own, but when it comes to making the necessary concessions to make that 'one Nigeria' work as a proper nation, you come up short.

I'll repost the statement i made earlier, and would like to know your take on it:
