i doubt if pres gej can reduce the number of parastatals or ministries in Nigeria. he doesnt seem to be courageous enough. remember he promised to reduce the number of committees in january but to date he has only succeeded on proliferating same. https://www.nairaland.com/841255/fuel-subsidy-removal-president-goodluck/2

Re: FG To Scrap Agencies Next Year by mahel: 2:03pm On Sep 20, 2012
lacasa: This will affect the average govt worker thαt struggled ϯo get the employment in the first place who is living on a salary thαt barely meets up ϯo his immediate family needs.

Thαt 's what the govt wants ϯo do, build a skyscraper on a weak foundation

If u really wanna scrap any govt extension,

Scrap the 2 house NA like Senegal did

Reduce the ηo of ministers and special assistants and aides politicians appoint ϯo reward their cronies

Reduce the ηo of Judges esp the Supreme court judges, (they just too much)

Reduce Mr President's feeding costs (abt a billion naira)

Reduce the train of official escorts in President, Vp, Senate, Speaker, executive governors, commissioners etc at all levels

Arrest and prosecute, redeem stolen funds from subsidy cabal, pension scam, oteh, okereke, Diezani etc

Reduce needless foreign trips by d presidency, first lady undecided, govs, committee chairman etc along wt over 100 plus aides dat go on dis fruitless trips etc

Ensure national security, power, agriculture, tourism so the burden of govt workforce wen eventually shed, will automatically diffuse n absorbed by the private sector dat comes in once dose objectives r achieved

Etc

Thαt 's wat Jona should do first of all b4 retrenching workers
ur brian dey work!! Nor b som fools wer der papa don steal money keep 4 dem, con dey shout scrap scrap!!

we expect jonathan to reduce the number of committees he will set up next year and his number of aides. his delegations to international meetings are no good news.

Kslib: Talk is cheap!! If they like, they should scrape no be only scrap, the real problem which is corruption will still be there. Since they don't want to tackle it or resign, they should shut the Bleep up and do wateva they wish..
They just keep nursing stupid ideas that will not reduce the price of gharri..
You got it right, they should scrap the corruption first

Bad idea without providing alternative employment for the thousands likely to be affected. If the FG is serious about saving funds, it knows W̶̲̥̅̊Ђε̲̣̣̣̥яε̲̣̣̣̥ to effect such, charity they say begins at home.

minister of education
Minister of state for education

Minister of health
Minister of state for health

Minister of defense
Minister of state for defense

Can someone differentiate this government lucrative portfolios?

How about Ghost workers?
Nigeria is simply a fraud. Until this money spinning oil resources dried up, Nigeria can never get it right.

Eko Atlantic: Not a bad idea. Plus it'll also be a smart move if they'll scrap one of those two chambers of the law makers.
May be instead of removing subsidy on petrol, it would have been more reasonable to reduce the amount spent in running of agencies and the senate.
Make the presidency seat, House of Rep, a no profit making post, cut the allowances by 50%, make the rich pay more tax, subsidize education, transportation and agriculture for the poor. Then we'll know they have the people they're governing in mind.

Great, Great idea. They will never let this see the light of the day.
Re: FG To Scrap Agencies Next Year by tayejay(m): 5:37pm On Sep 20, 2012
Scrapping agencies will further widen d gap
btw d rich and d poor as earlier pointed
out by an objective and sensible mind.
Bet me, people dat will loose their jobs
are those that constitute the less privilege
and vacancies will still b created and
occupied by d children of d rich n powerful
which of
course is already happening by considering
NNPC recent jobs advert in spite of recent
recruitment and lost of d pples confidence
due 2 its role in d subsidy saga.
Nations wit less population and wealth
dan Nigeria hav more government staff
and are very efficient, majority of our
civil servants are less efficient despite
not enough 2 render services required 2
boost d development of d country, because
such funds meant 2 enable them functn effectively
are highly looted by d management, whom majority
constitute d higher and political
class who are even compensated wit other
better appointments after haven cause d
Destructn of such parastatal, agency or ministry
, yet d innocents ones are sacked 4 non productivity. Wat Nigeria needs is 4
govt 2 create more jobs rather dan create
more unemployment and d masses shud stand
up against corruption. D country must go on
strike 2 overcome corruption because it is d
bane of our development. Pple must
not loose their jobs 2 create more moni 4
looters. D more moni stolen, d more they
still hav 2 legally exttract 2 boost
security 4 dem selves against d oppressed.
President Jonathan shud not subscribe 2 dis
evil plan against d masses because it will
Further cos insecurity, more corruption
and yet d money they are hoping 2 free
Shall never b available 4 d development of d country.
God bless Nigeria!!!

Re: FG To Scrap Agencies Next Year by alphaconde(m): 7:14pm On Sep 20, 2012

VIO or FRSC
Consumer protection council or Servicom
NCDSC or peace corps
NFF or NFA
Ministry of finance or debt management office
Icpc or efcc
Ferma or ministry of works
Coming some more

I think the govt should look for a better way of solving this issue without creating massive unemployment... The same folks praising this initiative will be the same calling Jonathan a failure for rising unemployment indices
Re: FG To Scrap Agencies Next Year by Johndoe100(m): 9:22pm On Sep 20, 2012
1 shortblackboy: please the following should be scrapped:

road saftey

Re: FG To Scrap Agencies Next Year by banki(m): 9:35am On Sep 21, 2012
sometimes i marvel at this government....One day they come up with beautiful ideas wonderful ideas the next day they do something differnt.

I love this policy if its properly implemented, but you see it should start from the top why do we need 2ministers for every ministry? that already is already doing the same function? why expand ministries? ok why have so many special assistants and advisers and spokesmen, ministers and minstries and agencies on media and information and come back and say you want to reduce cost of governance? I went to church las weekend a Deputy governor came to church alone without his wife and children but there was a convoy of 5cars including an ambulance, state press bus and about 6 mopol, and some SSS men.... to sunday service...
this are the things i find funny about this administration because they say one thing and at the same breath do the other, the same government travels with an entourgeof about 50 people? the same government buys new planes and new cars every year? The amount of policemen guarding one man that is just a political party member may be enough to police a whole comunity...

Truly very beautiful idea scrap some of this agencies that are just meant as avenues to siphone money but above all reduce cost of governance and the size of the government....START FROM THE TOP thats where the problem is
Re: FG To Scrap Agencies Next Year by kettykin: 1:08pm On Sep 21, 2012
Rather than scarpping Agencies and the Senate why not the whole Government do away with the Local Government system which has remained a big drain pipe on the economy , uptill today i am yet to see any benefit of having local government system
Re: FG To Scrap Agencies Next Year by thehomer: 1:56pm On Sep 21, 2012
Does anyone have a list of the agencies to be scrapped?
Re: FG To Scrap Agencies Next Year by frank4ryl(m): 10:48am On Sep 22, 2012
saxywale:

True. I still find it hard to believe the FG is arming(giving out rifles) to guguru defence.
FRSC and VIO should be merged with the traffic dept. of NPF.

I dont really understand the differences in their job. we have traffic dept. in NPF which should be strenghtened with the kind of logistic provided for those agencies. we have FRSC, VIO, Traffic (yellow fever) doing the same job. Local vigilante, Civil Defence, Police doing the same job, even in police we have like operation this operation that, Special Protection Unit, Mobile Police, SARS, RRS. We have more like Fire Service, NEMA, ETC. Everything JAGA JAGA yet no job. Nigerian Leaders, I dey hail your competence ooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
