Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura Monday narrowly escaped a fatal car accident in which three of his aides were killed.

This was when a truck with registration number KANO XE 384NSR ran into the governor's convoy as he was returning from Nasarawa Toto Local Government Area after inspecting flood ravage areas of the state.

An eyewitness account who was in the convoy however said the poor state of the road, which was still under construction by the caused the accident.

Governor Al-makura was coming from the area, where he had gone to distribute relief materials to the over 15 000 people who were displaced by flood .

The accident claimed three lives of the Governor's aides while his son, Khalil, who was in the Hilux vehicle sustained serious injuries and has since been operated upon at the National Hospital, Abuja.

The governor, according to a source was visibly shaken over the incident as he remained in sober mood while calling for prayers for the victims.
