ACN Vows To Challenge Mimiko's Election Victory by Monimatic(m): 6:59pm On Oct 21, 2012 |
The Action Congress Party (ACN) has warned that it will further scrutinize the outcome of the just concluded governorship election in Ondo state where the candidate of the Labour Party, Olusegun Mimiko, was declared winner. In a statement signed by the national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, the party said “, our party will study carefully the general details of the results with a view to taking a final position”. The statement however maintained that “Our party believes that there was and still is need for change in Ondo State”. Akande thanked the leadership of the party and general members of the state for their “brilliant performance” in spite of “many challenges glaring lapses in the system and institutional inefficiency in the conduct of Ondo state governorship election”. He further said “Our party has always been and remains proud of our candidate, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and this election has reinforced our confidence in his ability to lead and stimulate life back into the Action Congress of Nigeria in Ondo State”. “Our party will continue this post mortem analysis of the lapses in all the institutions involved in the conduct of the Ondo election”. Mr Olusegun Mimiko of the Labour Party had polled a total of 260, 199 votes. The PDP placed second with 155, 512 while ACN came third with 143, 512 votes in the just concluded Ondo state governorship elections. http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/10/21/acn-vows-to-scrutinise-electoral-process-in-ondo/

Court ke! Even PDP beat them with about 12,000 votes. The court could overturn the election result, but then, it would still fall in PDP's favour first. Then they'll probably go to court again....... Association of Corrupt Nigerians(A.C.N) 6 Likes |

Why did the OP mislead us that A.C.N is heading to court? By the way, the electorates are getting wiser by the day that voting for party rather than the goodness and credibility of candidates is the bane of corruption and underperformance by political office holders. Another lesson here is that no matter how small or unpopular your party is, if your candidate is credible, he stands a great chance of getting the electorates confidence and votes just as witnessed in the case of Mimiko. I don't care whether A.C.N accepts defeat or not, I just wanna congratulate the people of Ondo State for voting right despite the media instruments against Mimiko and political lies of other political parties. I hope other states can take a cue from this. God bless Nigeria! 1 Like |

ACN should be reminded that Justice Salami is no more in the appellate court and the idea of going to court will just be another mis-adventure in futility. The election was free and fair and even the riverine areas that recorded pockets of skirmish and electoral violence, the announced results was in the favour of PDP and not LP, except the ACN is challenging the PDP as best loser. 5 Likes |

it is glaring that LP justly won d electn...challenging d victory is nuffing bt a waste of time. ACN was regretably sidelined even by PDP that i never imagine to pool such an encouraging no of votes...ACN should sheerfuly accept this water-loo and begin to plan against d next election... Notwithstanding that ACN failed this time around, i still remain d stronghold of thier tenets nd veritable way of administratn. Up up up ACN..... 1 Like |

Am very sure the OP has morning sickness; where in the report did ACN vow to challenge Mimiko in court? Even with ur distorted heading - ACN has every right under the principles of democracy to go to court if they are not satisfied with the results. Victory for Mimiko is a victory for democracy and if ACN want to go to court - its the beauty of democracy 2 Likes |

Though the caption seem to be misleading because there is nothing wrong with a party taking a proper examination where they failed and how to amend such occurrences in future elections. Part of what ACN should scrutinise is the problem of imposition and godfatherism. Mimiko's victory is well deserved, a good example of one good turn deserves another. Nonetheless, ACN is a regional problem and its not the woe that has bedevilled Nigeria in the last 13yrs. While showing our angst on a tiny cabal in the SW who are trying to stunt us, we should not be carried away or lose focus on the bigger evil which is PDP. |
