How Has The Ban On Okadas In Lagos Affected You? by acidtalk: 4:15pm On Oct 23, 2012
What has been the Effect of the Ban of Okada (Commercial Motorcycle) on you.

Have you found it difficult getting to your destination due to the non alternative means aside Danfo, BRT and taxi or have you felt at ease walking on the road without the fear of an Okada rider to knock you down or throw you inside the gutter without even feeling remorse.
Re: How Has The Ban On Okadas In Lagos Affected You? by acidtalk: 4:18pm On Oct 23, 2012
Some people have cried out that a journey that usually takes them 30mins now takes them at least 2hrs 30mins.

While some are calling on the Governor to consider the poor masses who have no car and at such make use of only commercial motorcycle, others are insisting the road is now safer and less crowded.

Why do you belong and whose side are you on?
Re: How Has The Ban On Okadas In Lagos Affected You? by Nobody: 4:28pm On Oct 23, 2012
Is Okada banned totally ?
Re: How Has The Ban On Okadas In Lagos Affected You? by acidtalk: 4:44pm On Oct 23, 2012
Driving throughout today from Lekki Phase1 up till Ikeja (Allen and GRA), I could count how many Okada riders I saw on the way. Only courier/dispatch riders and one or two with military guys riding them.

So io think it has great effect on people right now. The traffic is also TERRIBLE!!!
Re: How Has The Ban On Okadas In Lagos Affected You? by acidtalk: 8:49pm On Oct 23, 2012
Will the ban of Okada bring about less Accident victims in authopedic hospitals and will it also reduce the number of robbery cases perpetuated on motorbikes?

This and many more answers we need to know.

Mainland aka Yaba, you can count the amount of Okadas on the road and some were caught. Although heavy traffic today which might be due to fuel scarcity. All in all the roads SMOOTH AND NICE, feels like you are in another country.
Re: How Has The Ban On Okadas In Lagos Affected You? by acidtalk: 9:03pm On Oct 23, 2012
Today actually felt like a Public Holiday.
There annoying and continuous blaring or horns was not witnessed. Didn't have to look left and right all the time to avoid hiting any bike guy.
Moreover, saw a couple of school children walking freely without being scared or too careful that a bike guy was going to knock them into the gutter.

Okada was introduced in Lagos in 1994 prior to that time people made use of Taxis, Danfos and Molues for their means of transportation.

If Fashola insist on banning them, I believe it is only a matter of time before Lagosians adapt and forget about them.

Due to traffic situation on my Badore-Ajah-VI home-work route, driving to work means I'll be leaving home not later than 6:15am if I want to get to work before 8. Since I have alternative in bike, I can afford to set out by 7 and still get to work before 8. I consider that convenient than driving(driving in traffic is a hell of work for job - I just don't have the patience).

Only to get to Ajah on Monday and no bike was willing to go to VI. After waiting for like 20 minutes, hopped public transport. Needless to say I got to work late, 8:30.

I'm not sayin dey shdnt ban bikes but alternatives shld be provided lyk tricycles. Those hailin dis development have cars n it doesn't affect dem but wat abt d poor masses? Dia were so many ppl @ d bus stops 2day, no means of transportation. Ppl had 2 trek far distances. Its rly unfair. Alternatives shd be provided before such drastic laws r enforced.

it was kind of frustrating yesterday at oshodi...best option was to chill for train to avoid traffic..wink

Traffic was really bad. Dere should be more regulation, and not total ban.

I got a new bike 100cc this year july and I collect all the needed document for my private bike. The law is good but how many people can afford highway queen of 200cc engine capacity? Am self employed (contractor) and I have to inspect what my workers is doing in 2 or more sites every working days. BRF go kill many people ooo. I don't have any choice than to sell my small car that is not useful to me on working days and use the money to buy dirty bike of 250Cc engine capacity.

I really do not understand this post.
Is there really BAN on Okadas. CAPITAL NO!
There are only restrictions, If you are the type that ply Major highways and Bridges depending on Okada, then you are affected. Come to think of it, why should Okada go to roads like Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Oworoshoki -Oshodi expressway, Lagos-Ikorodu expressway, Agege motor road, Funsho Williams avenue, Eti-Osa Lekki Coastal road, National Stadium fly-over, Dorman long brigde etc. @ the first place.
I really do not think Fashola hates the masses for these restrictions but likes us , If you are the type that believes in African time and immediately you noticed you are late, you look for the fastest means to get to your destination, then you think of Okada on highway then you are more affected.
Muslim festival is few days away, you will notice 2 men on a motorcycle with bags on Lagos-Ibadan express way, what will come to your mind @ first is “where these men are going”.. Answer. Oyo state, Kwara State, Ondo state. Then what comes to your mind secondly is “why on earth should people risk their lives to this extent”.
A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE. LET US ALL SAY NO TO OKADA ON HIGHWAY!

Some people are just writing stuff and most of them have not even tried to read the new traffic law. They base their comments on what they read and hear.
Please try and read the new law and see how it affects everyone.

Was trying to go the GRA over the weekend I had to trek from PWD Bus Stop to my location because there were no bikes and tricycle dont go there either.
There are no commercial buses allowed in GRA Ikeja. So How do you cope?

From this list, that's like everywhere, so where are they allowed to ride.

#laughing# who says banning and restriction is different with the list of these areas bike wouldn't have to ply?? Huh? So, we can only take bike from one street to the next one or what does it mean sef? This is complete BAN of okada! N̶̲̥̅Ø̶̷̩̥̊͡ other word for it.

Its okay tho, I like the fact that you don't have to look here and there watching out for okada while walking or driving.

Lagosians.....like every new introduction people will miss what you had before but adjust with time. Okadas have been banned in port harvourt for a while now. The peace, the bliss, not having to check your blindspot all the time or struggle on already narrow roads with honking, impatient, dare devil bike men. Seeing a bike pass you is so unusual and its basically dispatch men and private motorcycles who ride carefully because they are not rushing to quickly deposit one customer and pick another. Safer, better and more peaceful. Thumbs up Fashola!

from this list...It is obvious that okada is banned from moving everywhere cos I stay in surulere and all minor and major roads are mentioned here. so it should be "OKADA BANNED IN LAGOS" not okada restricted

You just read my mind.... Lolz. na to go buy a fuel saving car like golf or corolla now ooo if one lives in Lagos.
Transport fare of napep go sky rocket and robbery especially people that move at night.

Sanity would be brought on roads though, less okada accidents. Reduction in breakage of rear lights and side mirror of cars. And walking is good exercise.
