Nigerians Five Year Economic Blue Print To Develop South Africa by macjive01: 3:19pm On Nov 02, 2012 |
The newly elected president of Ohaneze Ndigbo, South Africa Chapter, Mr Smart Okeugiri as announced plans for his administration to build an Igbo speaking school and Igbo cultural merchandise market in South Africa, reports Nigeriancompass.com. the proposed International market Maintaining that Igbo are largely business-oriented, the leader of the South African branch of the Igbo group expressed hope that the International Market and Special School, on completion, would, among other things, foster unity, strengthen business ties between Igbo and their South African counterparts and promote export and import trade with the South African government. This development follows the completion of the mandate report and draft of the five year economic plan of Igbo in SA. The report It covers Igbo communities in the nine provinces of South Africa, namely, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Northern Cape, kwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Free State, North West and Limpopo. The aims of this exercise is for the umbrella body to (1) have an accurate gauge of the numeric strength of Ndigbo in South Africa (2) harmonize our collective struggle for economic integration (3) identify tangible challenges facing Ndigbo peculiar to the South African environment and, (4) come up with feasible five-year development plan for Ndigbo. After touring the provinces, it became apparent that Igbo communities are strikingly similar in the sense that what is obtainable among Ndigbo at Mpumalanga, for instance, is also what goes in Limpopo. Igbos live together, trade together and worship together. The same town union found in one province is replicated in the other eight. Such scenario convinced the Panel to lock on a particular province as case study for the rest. Chairman and members unanimously picked Gauteng, seat of national Ohaneze Ndigbo South Africa. On-the-spot assessment constituted the basic methodology. The Panel also consulted records from the government of South Africa, Igbo town unions, local government and state associations; as well as private persons. Oral interviews from countless Igbos were entertained and incorporated into the report. read the rest here http://www.igbolandforum.com/index.php?topic=592.0 |

macjive01: Nice development , but should they rather not invest that money in Lagos ? Did you say Lagos? If they invested it in the SE, will that be a crime? You develop another man's country, while your father's land lies in ruins. In future, they will change their laws that will be unfavorable to them, putting them at the receiving end. Anyway, gr8 idea but.... |

macjive01: Lagos is the economic capital of Nigeria, having investments in Lagos will reap more benefit, promote the Industrial capacity of the country and unite the people ^^^Macjive nwanna, methinks you're speaking tongue-in-cheek ; as a people we need to come together and develop at least one city in the south east to an int'l commercial and industrial status. With the new Enugu int'l airport, Asaba cargo airport and proposed Ibaka deep sea port (thank God for a proactive governor like Akpabio) we really have no excuse not to think 'home' when looking to invest anywhere; all we need to complete the picture is constant power supply and a good road network. |
