Originalsly: Sad. Bad roads are everywhere and no doubt is partly to be blamed. My concern is the truck carrying the container. If the trucks are not fitted to carry containers why are they allowed to especially when the roads are terrible? If this truck was fitted the entire truck would have rolled over. I guess there was no chains or straps to secure the container....who knows...maybe the container was shifting all along until it eventually slid off he truck. An accident that was waiting to happen....not the first nor would it be the last.

The issue is the Bad road, come to apapa you will see even the container falling with the truck when it is properly latched.

solidbroda: Nigeria is the only place that, before goin out of your house, You say "bye bye" to everyone, just in case you do not return. If police men don't kill you, container will, if not, the bad roads, If not, the robbers. Plane might explode, even in your house, police can just come in and shoot you.

Very sad reality indeed

Re: 3 Crushed As Container Falls On Car In Lagos by FlamingGun: 3:09pm On Nov 22, 2012
It is not so much the bad roads as the fact that there appears to be no regulation requiring containers to be tethered securely to the flatbed truck! As long as elementary safety measures are not enforced, this will continue to happen. Very sad indeed. Logging companies do the same thing with timber and every time there is a mishap, many souls perish.

We are very long on calling on God to help us! He already has by giving us the brain to think, to write laws and regulations!! God will not come to enforce laws. Humans must. Nigeria needs to wake up to enforce laws and regulations.

Re: 3 Crushed As Container Falls On Car In Lagos by Babamide(m): 5:46pm On Nov 22, 2012
Pergrace: 99.1% of trailers in our naija roads carry these containers UNFastened while on top speed.I wonder why the Road Safety marshals can't impound them.
That is the main issue to be addressed. If we had a functional rail system, there would be less trailer wahala and even the roads would last longer.

The condition of the road contributed to the problem. The government needs to fix the potholes

This accident occured as a result of Bad road, one could see the container still fastened to the trailer body. Our Goverment just stand by and watch while Nigerians die on highways everyday.

Perfect example of what draconian okada ban can never achieve or prevent. If okada means accidents on the road, what do the many gullies and potholes on our 'roads' stand for?

Exactly the kind of things those pretenders in power will never want to do. Before you know it, you see them blabbing about how traffic and state of roads are causing them sleepless nights.
