Sattors: In Esan language in Edo state it is called Otien and there is another type dat look exatly like dis and also more sweeter called Omumu. Yeah Omumu is brown in colour and it's very sweet. we use to have both close to our former compound and as children then we use to wake up early in the morning to pick up the ones that fell of the tree at night. Lovely memories. |

THe closest name is african star apple, you have to include the african because, the star apple is another fruit. It is highly tropicalised and so doesn't really have it;s own english name but it is refered to as the african star apple. |

bisiswag: Otien is what most people in Edo call it, not Ishan/Esan and the word is not originally an esan word, let's just leave it as an Edo name and not try to cause division by tribalizing it because if you do, you'd discover that it's a bini name for it. |

I think d nigerianised-english name for it is cherry. Chai back in those days, the skin was a very good source of chewing gum, while we(girls) also cracked d seed and used dat white stuff inside d seed as earrings. |
