Lets do more than just social anger on this issue. how will a rogue be honored while heroes languish in obscurity. its not a shame yet until we do nothing and that criminal of a he-goat is honored come December 12. this is the contact of NANS - lets picket it with letters showing our disapproval.

Obviously, it seems the guy that nominated him is eyeing Labaran Maku's (being a former student leader at UNIJOS) position as Instrument of deceiving the Nigerian populace.

Africa my Africa, Africa of Proud warrior savanna, Africa whom my grandmother sings..............

What will be our future in Africa is supossed enlightened student (future leader/ ruler as we currently have in Nigeria) will honour an ex covict (not based od political victimization)?

You see what the youths are doing to themselves. Soon they will be the one to complain that there are no jobs, No security, leadership is bad and what have you. Those m.orons will forget that they have sold their future over a couple of cash at one point in their live. They will forget that they have once honored who is not to be honored. We youths are no doubt the one that encourages this bigger m.orons to continue with their madness. But one day, just one day. lipsrsealed

lekanolas: The All Africa Students Union (AASU) has picked former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George as the winner of its 15th edition of the Africa Leadership award.

George’s nomination was based on recommendations by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the ratification by the executive council of AASU.

Disclosing this was the Nigerian representative at AASU and Project Co-ordinator of the award,

Olufemi Lawson, who said that George was selected from among the many nominees for the 2012 award based on his commitment to youth development and his defence of democratic institutions.

The award would be conferred on him on December 12, during which a distinguished leadership lecture would be delivered.

AASU is a regional students organisation, headquartered in Accra, Ghana with over 54 African countries as members.

Past recipients of the ASUU bi-annual Africa Leadership Award included former Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Kofi Anan, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Afe Babalola, a former minister from South Africa, and Nobel laureate, late Prof Wangari Maathai among others.

If this news is true, then the federal government should send a powerful delegates headed by IBB and OBJ to the families of Oyenusi, Lawrence Anini, Monday Osunbor, George Iyamu, Sina Rambo, Rondo Rondo, Osisikankwu and Otokoto respectively to apologise to the families with huge financial compensation , including the GFCON awards to the heads of each member of their families. If person like this Criminal could be hornored with an Award of any kind in Nigeria today. This is the reason why I don’t have regards to the so called Nigerian students of nowadays. These are the cultists that rewarded their chief sponsor with a criminal Award. Can we have the names of the Stupident or Student leaders that issued out this useless and meaningless Award? Look at their reasons, that he has been empowering and supporting the youths. Who are these youths, apart from the Armed Robbers, Ritual Killers, Kidnappers that are using the Nigeria universities as their dens. The ladies that participated in the Award are these ones the graduate with their Abuna/handouts. Cultists honoring a Thief imagine that.

The present day student union is corrupt and has lost its credibility. Gone are the days when student union was respected and was seen as bright leaders of tomorrow, I mean the time of Emeka Ojukwu in Kings College Lagos, Wole Soyinka in University College Ibadan etc. Many Pan African Nationalist that brought about Independence in their various countries were once strong members of student union movement, Nelson Mandela, Patrick Lumumba, Nnamdi Azikwe, Kenneth Kaunda etc.

All of you in Nairaland should listen attentively. Corruption is a Nigerian, It is in our blood even in the blood of children yet unborn. Every body is corrupt. You can not tackle high scale corruption without tackling first corruption in individual homes/families. In fact a time will come when we'll see it as a normal way of life. For now, there is know drastic measure to it other than to start training your children how to be on the right part & pray to God that money should circulate in Nigeria because any individual that does'nt have money would be tempted. If u like, match from Lagos to Abuja, corruption will not go because you!! are corrupt.
