Pharaoh Perished in the Red Sea

Exodus 14

Introduction- In our last lesson we learned about how Israelites left Egypt, the dedication of their first child, God become the Pillar of cloud and fire for their journey and Moses took Joseph bones as they leave Egypt. In today's lesson we will be learning about how Pharaoh and his people perished in the Red Sea, Moses separated the red sea and the people fear and believed God and Moses.

Today’s Study

The Lord spoke to Moses to tell the children of Isreal to camp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the see. By Baalzephon. Then Pharaoh would think the children of Israel are stranded in the wilderness and he would hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he follow after the children of Israel and Pahraoh made ready his chariot and charge his people to chase the Isrealites and he overtook them by the camp of Pihahiroth before Baalzephon. When the Israelite saw Pharaoh, they were so afraid and they cried to the Lord.(Exodus 14: 1-10)

Then the children of Israel asked Moses if he had brought them to die here sin there is no grave in Egypt and they had told him to leave them alone. Then Moses told them not to be afraid and be still to see the salvation of the Lord and he assured them that the Egyptians, which they see today, they will not see them again and the Lord shall fight for them. Then God asked Moses why the are crying to him? He should instruct the children of Israel to go forward and command him to lift his rod and his hand toward the sea and divide it and the children should walk on the ground of the sea. Then God promise to harden Pharaoh’s heart the more and the angel of the Lord went from the front to the back of the Israelite between the Egyptian and Israel to give darkness to Egyptians and Light to Israel so that the Egyptians do not come closer. (Exodus 14: 11-20)

When Moses stretched his hand, the Lord made the see to go back with a strong east wind all through the night and the sea was divided and there was dry land. Then the Israel went through the sea and the waters stood like wall and the Egyptians follow them to the middle of the sea and when it was morning, and when the Israelites had cross over, the Lord made the Egyptians chariots of horse wheel to rumble hardly on the soil and God commanded Moses to stretch out his hand again and the sea returned on the Egyptians and cover them up and Israel walk on dry land and they saw the great work which God did and they fear the Lord and believed the Lord and Moses. .(Exodus 14: 21-31)

Reflection

God can use the most dreadful things to make you rely on him. It is sometime a process of refining us into God’s destined plan. Many times, this exercise is hard, difficult, troublesome and unpleasant and we don’t want it either. Like many of us aspire to be great, greatness does not come by easy doing, but through tough and difficult experience or reshaping and reconstruction of ones identity. “3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.”(Malachi 3:3)

The Israelite were lonely in the camp, and not long Pharaoh and his men were coming, fear set in, then blame came on why Moses brought them to wilderness to kill them, there is no doubt they would have been tired, they were hopeless when they look at their front, it was red sea, at their back it was Pharaoh the enemy and by their fight and left unlimited wilderness. Like we always experience, in the wilderness of our life, there is loneliness, fear, tiredness, hopelessness, uncertainty, grumbling, blames and insult.” 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.”(Isaiah 48:10)

Every Christian will definitely go through this kind of life wilderness and some of us might be going through this wilderness right now, but I can assure you, if you cry to God like the Israelite did, God will ask you why do you cry, and ask you to use what’s in your hand to part the red sea of your life. The Israelites triumph and overcame their enemies just by obedience and trust in Moses word. When we trust God and do his will, he has promised us thus“11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.”(Malachi 3:11)

My prayer to you today that your enemies will be stranded in between the red sea and no one will be able to rescue them
