Tribalism as it were is fast becoming an issue in my beloved country(Nigeria) and d quicker we find a lasting solution to this gigantic problem the better for Nigerians!

But bro, the moderators especially jarus will water down your efforts down. He will even go to the extent of closing this thread if he sees it, cos, he hasnt seen it yet thats why it still strives. Jarus is the number bigot on nairaland and yet he is a moderator, in these case what do u expect bro. Nothing but tribal fight galore. Hey my brother, let us forget about this biafra issue of a thing, the war has come and gone. Casualties and lost counted, we have to move on bro. These is the reason why i hate history as a subject in schools. Although history helps us to recount the past so that we dont make mistakes, but, human beings use history as revenge, what a misplaced priority. I registered on nairaland in 2009 and i have never for one day cursed awolowo, tafawa balewa, sarduana and other leaders from other tribes. I got pissed of with berem because i have noticed that she indirectly mocks the igbos and our leaders with the same yoruba guys doing so. You, i see how you defend your tribe, even going to the extent of calling seun's bluff. To imagine that berem is married and everytime she's online looking for one lover or the other, to the extent of denigrating her tribe and people because she really needs a lover. The politicians of all tribes are united with a single purpose of looting Nigeria. The citizens are divided. Trying to claim some sort of group ethnic superiority, when today's world competitive world only recognizes individual brilliance. Nigerian's are displaying the symptoms of a deprived population fighting over meagre shared resources. The truth however is that unless you are a direct relative to a politician, it does not matter whether the Governor or President is from your region. You will likely benefit nothing.

As per Nairaland, i have long concluded that it is just part of their business model. The e-tribal wars drive traffic like nothing else. We know all the tribal derogatory terms, but the site finds words like PPPorn more offensive and have software that removes such immediately. No censorship of aboki, ofenmmanu or Igbo. There is no flag button to warn censors of abusive language. Nairaland is using the same tactics as the politicians are using: Divide and conquer.

I was pleasantly surprised when Seun stepped in to stop the bashing of Chinua Achebe, by a tribal motivated campaign. This shows that there is still some sense of responsibility in the forum. I would advise the owners to begin to clamp down on the tribal abuse that goes on in this site. Most human beings are moderates. Most sensible people do not like what is going on on the site. Topics are derailed with tribal bashing all the time with no consequence to the perpetrators.

As a business man, I think the site should make adjustments before a competitor comes up with something better and devoid of tribal trolls. You have to be pro-active. I think the site should occasionally do customer surveys to find out what the users think.
