The Jonathan posters were pasted in strategic locations in Abuja.

The opposition Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has lambasted President Goodluck Jonathan over the president’s posters that were pasted in strategic locations in Abuja at new year, describing the move as an attempt to rig the 2015 presidential election way ahead of time.

The spokesperson of the party, Rotimi Fasakin, in a statement Wednesday said although the president has the right to contest for the presidency; the message: ‘No vacancy in Aso-rock in 2015’ is of grave concern.

“Is this not an early warning that results of the 2015 Presidential election have been written and kept in wrap just for the ‘formal’ announcement?,” the statement asked.

The statement also said Mr. Jonathan is trying to toe the path of former president Olusegun Obasanjo who in his desperation to hold on to power declared an election a ‘do or die’ process.

The CPC said the posters and the message contained therein are a sign that the ruling party is disturbed by the impending merger of the major opposition Parties in the country.

The party accused the PDP of trying to overheat the polity and use the opportunity to “unleash a very capricious onslaught on the opposition”.

It said whatever the PDP hopes to achieve by the posters and the message will be defeated by Nigerians.

President Jonathan, through his spokesman, Reuben Abati, has denied being behind the posters.
