A student of the University of Maiduguri has been hurt in an exchange of fire in the metropolis between the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation RESTORE ORDER and Boko Haram militants.

A statement by Lieutenant Col. Sagir Musa, the JTF spokesman, said the incident occurred at about 5:50 am on January 4 at Gwange when terrorists attacked a JTF location.

“During an exchange of fire, a taxi was caught in the cross fire; unfortunately a stray bullet hit one of the passengers who is alleged to be a student of University of Maiduguri. The injured student in the taxi was escorted to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where he is receiving medical attention and responding to treatment,” the statement sa
