luvinhubby: Who assesed and awarded the job to the contractor initially, what was the competence & track record of the company before now, the governor should equally investigate the award process to avoid future occurance.u are pointless my dear. If checking track record before awarding contract of minor project of this kind, then wat ll be fate of new construction firms. |

Contract are projects that have start and finish dates. If the contractor does not meet the schedule(time frame) and other constrainst as agreed from the onset with the sponsor, then the project is failed and he should me made to pay. If we imbibe this methods with dealing with contractors, they will definitely seat up and work wonders. But its all padi padi government. |

How did things become this bad? Mere statements of "sacking" of a contractor, who was dully engaged by state govt officials, is being celebrated on NL? The present contractor has not moved out of site and new contractor has neither been engaged nor moved to site. What then is the essence of the celebration? These days it seems some sycophants will celebrate Fashola for farting in public 1 Like |

You can as well change the topic to "FASHOLA WITHRAWS CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT" fashola dont have power to sack any independent contractor only CAC can denial such company of its existence. #topicmisleading# contractor is not a commissioner, nor a government worker but an independent entity. |

Sincere 9gerian: How did things become this bad? Mere statements of "sacking" of a contractor, who was dully engaged by state govt officials, is being celebrated on NL? This is exactly d reason why you are not taking serious in previous threads and it goes to show that you have a phobia for anything Fashola if after d statement and nothing happens with time then you have every right to discredit him....but for now, the people of the area is taking the governor by his words.. |

Re: Fashola Sacks Contractor Over Slow Road Construction by smartg(m): 5:08pm On Jan 16, 2013 |
There is no reason for delay in constructing the road that has been awarded already, am sure its this kind of contractors that has kept most of the roads in Nigeria as abandon project. if gov fashola had fail to sack the contractor, before you know what is going on, the road will become an abandon project. Thanks to fashola for his action this time. |

Crapy excuses. What a load of lies and public ego massage. 35 months?! Was the contractor not paid mobilisation fee? How come the Ministry of Works and iInfrastructure not indicted by the Boy Boy Governor? Are they not suppose to have supervisors attached to each project from the Ministry? The man is just a gallery playing Boy boy Governor. Let him publish in a National daily the name of the contractor and how much was paid to them thus far vis-a-vis the Bill of Quantity BOQ of the project. Liars! 1 Like |

luvinhubby: Who assesed and awarded the job to the contractor initially, what was the competence & track record of the company before now, the governor should equally investigate the award process to avoid future occurance.Do you mean the governor should have asked for the contractor's years of experience? Then how are we going to encourage local contractors? |

abhosts: What about the Lekki Expressway? Why has Fashola not Sacked LCC despite the terribly slow pace of Work? Which part of Lekki Expressway are you talking about? You see, now i know why some threads degenerate into abusiveland instead of nairaland. Can you imagine what you have just said? |

Dee60: WHAT ABOUT OZUMBA MBADIWE STREET IN VI/LAGOS? SHEER INSENSITIVITY TO LEAVE SUCH A MAJOR ROAD CLOSED DOWN FOR MORE THAN 12 MONTHS. CohenJane: CohenJane, I sincerely hope our friend dee60 can lay his hands on those books you have asked him to dust. You also seem to be so close to government to know when they are are running projects onsite or offsite. Your comment is a clear call for practising project managers to be on their toes with understanding government projects and also a call to government to involve certified and professional project managers in handling of their projects. My line of thoughts is for the sponsors (the governor, his executives, assembly members) and stakeholders to be actively involved through having their own project teams to monitor the projects. This way, everyone knows what is expected from the Contractor at every point in time. This will serve as a check and balance for their excesses. |
