The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) on Thursday said it has awarded the rehabilitation of Lagos/Badagry Expressway to three firms.

Mr Tayo Aluko, the Federal Road Maintenance Engineer, FERMA, South-West Zone, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Aluko explained that a "special repair contract" was awarded to the firms to fix and repair the failed sections of the road.

He disclosed that the rehabilitation of the road would begin next week.

"Special repair contract on the Lagos/Badagry Expressway has been awarded to three contractors and they would move to site next week.

"By next week, there would be a lot of activities on that road.

"There are some critical locations that have been earmarked for intervention. All those locations that cause bottlenecks along that road would be repaired," he told NAN.

He explained that part of the mandate of FERMA was to carry out routine maintenance on federal roads-- through direct labour or contract awards.

Aluko said that fixing and repairing of the failed sections of the road were given to indigenous contractors.

I hope they ain't coming to do patch patch work.the heavy traffic on that road needs quality road rehabilitation. No be to come pour sand sand and use cement plaster am.
