Is APGA a political party or a member of the PDP conglomerate. The only governor that would have given a life to it has joined to merger. Adieu APGA, hold Okorie, Umeh, Massalla and Obi responsible for your demise! 5 Likes |

take dat: Is APGA a political party or a member of the PDP conglomerate..... GBAM!!! Even Obi is willingly handling over to the PDP come the next election, and whoever emerges as the APGA candidate is just wasting his precious time. The SE politics is still in its doldrums. It is an open secret that APGA,LP,PPA,ANPP etc are all branches of the develish PDP created to divide and rule the people. The only real opposition parties are ACN and CPC . To be frank am weary of this elements in APC because they can be moles, hope they won't be given any significant role. Sai Buhari\Fashola 2 Likes |

I also think APGA is dead as a party. People just use the party to get to a position but the party has no vision whatsoever. They've not grown for so many years and they seem not to care. Like someone said, APGA especially the Peter Obi's faction is just a subsidiary of the PDP. How can you call yourself an opposition if you keep dining with the ruling party. |

Annie Okonkwo comment is more or less a prediction of where we are heading i.e a two main Party Nation as is the case with the UK, USA, et al. Looking at issues without sentiments, the merger that created the APC also signify that we may be moving beyond the days when there will be 200 mushroom Political Parties everywhere with only 1 (the PDP) having the power, number and resources to monopolise power at the centre. ACN, CPC and others who want to take on the PDP have now merged . Sooner or later, Pro-PDP factions of the APGA and Labour will have no choice but to coalesce into the PDP or face diminishing political returns. Even at State level, guber and legislative positions may bounce back and forth mainly between the APC and the PDP in future. There are really no small Parties anymore. CPC has now gained overnight clout joining APC and ACN has become a monolith teaming up with others. the pro-PDP APGA and Labour Party will need this strength too. They will die if they don't move on because the political climate of Nigeria, with the birth of the APC, has changed for good. Within this new climate, the likes of APGA and Labour would have reached the pinnacle of their growth ability. They either join the PDP or APC or have their influential mover-and-shakers poached till they "die". 4 Likes |

Re: APGA Is Dead – Sen Okonkwo by PointB: 10:44am On Feb 13, 2013 |
APGA, and by extension other small/regional parties, can only die if they lose grassroot support. As long as they keep identifying and supporting the best candidate from the local population to represent them, they stand a survival chance. The reality on ground now in any case is that APC is peopled mainly by one chance politicians, with no shred of common ideological footing, except of course the desire to grab hold of power at the centre to for the sake of sharing national cake. Once the sharing/allocation formular is not acceptable to some of them, expect them to gravitate to another party or form new one. We have seen this happen several times, in Africa. That a man who intend to build a house has garnered enough bricks and mortar does not necessary means that the house has been build. It will therefore border seriously on precipice of naivity to raise so soon in a applause of dawn of new era of two party state, as nothing concrete is in place. APC as far as Nigerians are concerned are bunch of hyenas who have gathered to scavenge. Now the jury is out whether they would stick together in thick and thin. If I were a betting man, I'll bet one buck that these pack will collapse as soon as they realise that they cannot get what they desire from the new party. In other words, the era of two party state is yet to come. It is too early in the day to write the obituary, let alone bury APGA. 1 Like |
