Other documents = attached


The cover-letter will be the driving force for the recruiter to read your CV.
some CV will not get opened if the cover-letter is not impressing (remember they have very limited time with a whole lot of mails to process)

As the creator of this thread, maybe you should attach the template or whatever you are asked for on the first post so they can download on their own. I am saying this so that people will stop posting their emails here. It is dangerous

if you are sending an unsolicited application, your coverletter should be as a composed message. If it is in reply to an advert, follow their instruction. Some firms will say 'send in your coverletter and resume/cv as one ms doc.,others would say as two attachd doc. Just follow instructions.
When they are silent, use the composed method of coverletter and attached Cv.
Like a user mentioned above, except they specifically asked for it to be in ms form, use pdf.
