Re: Nigerian Guys Are Not Romantic (true/false) by Onchedu(m): 9:02am On Dec 31, 2010
It's difficult to be romantic when its obvious the one with whom U should be romantic is indulging romantic advances from other people and sees nothing wrong with that.

Anyway, romance has a general description of what it should be and an individualistic description. Perhaps this camerounian babe in question didn't find her definition and appreciation of romance in the Nigerian men she surveyed.

Effective communication nurtures romance and romance that comes from effective communication nurtures the former.

For me, i think some Naija men are romantic in their own way . . if u base your definition of Romance on wat u see in movies or in europe, u prolly wont get wat u want cos they have a different approach to romance. e.g . . dont expect flowers from a naija man who was born and bred in naija . . . dont expect him to open d door for you . . cos u wont have known bout dat gesture if u neva watched a movie . . . they prolly will do things ud neva expect and if u rily want to b fair, u'd see it as their own way of being romantic.

bottom line, dont compare our naija men to europeans cos we have our own unique style of being romantic. Have an open mind in ur relationship and u'l def appreciate ur man more and find romance in things he does dat u never will, if u keep comparing him to Europeans! wink

Well said.

@OP: It depends on the person's definition of romantic.

Who told you we don't like romance? Keep in mind, we're talking about a culture where people are taught to suppress themselves sexually undecided.

As long as Naija women are only interested in money there won't be much romance.
Money and romance don't mix.
Re: Nigerian Guys Are Not Romantic (true/false) by MrsEve2(f): 12:44pm On Dec 31, 2010
Hmm, there are NON-NIGERIAN girls on this site as well and we AGREE WITH THEM.
Re: Nigerian Guys Are Not Romantic (true/false) by switdick(m): 12:46pm On Dec 31, 2010
My point exactly is that should romance be limited to the girls only? So u say the girls like romance and the guys are not romantic! Hmmm way2 go, how many guyz have u been with?

Funny enough its the poor Nigerian men who are always on about money and spending, because they are so scared to spend on a girl, and they dread her asking. mtcheww.

It seems like the one who brags about getting free nyansh at a club is the poorest. They justified it by saying I don't pay for nyansh. No, your broke arse can't afford it.
